Republican Congressman Mike Pence defends the Tea Party by doing something Democrats are loathe to do – he quotes the Founding Fathers. (Of course, libs think Franklin Roosevelt was the Founding Father, so it’s not surprising that they don’t quote Thomas Jefferson).
“Yesterday we learned of a new effort by Democrats in Washington to attack American citizens who speak their mind and peaceably assemble as ‘extremists or radicals.’ Demeaning tea party citizens, or other Americans who are simply saying ‘no’ to runaway spending, takeovers and bailouts, is beneath the dignity of a great political party and it smacks of desperation.”
And Pence was just getting warmed up.

and that is all it is... fear of loosing the power they have accumulated so far. People who fear to loose power dislike dissenting voices. It is always interesting to me to see how George Bush handled dissenting voices. He had a it is what it is attitude. Not so with liberals. There is a whiff of desperation there that is intriguing.
Whatever both of you have been imbibing, can you please share with the rest of the class?
Dubya handled dissent by not allowing it to be seen. "Free speech zones" setup well away from any rally or appearance, people being excluded from public appearances because of the t-shirt they happen to wear? Any of this ring a bell?
Apparently populist movements are based on the square footage (both of the individuals and the landmass they occupy) more than actual numbers. "Real America" is a minority of the population of the country, but getting the publicity at the moment.

Ok Necronomi-Kimmy, when the left can have a protest rally that does'nt end up with rioting, arrests, & millions of dollars in property damage, then I'll treat them like adults. "Free Speech Zones" are play-pens for people who cannot handel the concept of conducting free speech in a civil manner.
The difference between last the 9/12 rallies or Beck's 8/28 rally compaired to any WTO meeting, or G20 summit, with hundreds of riot police & paddy wagons full of violent leftist protesters is very telling. Plus tons of garbage & thousands of man hours of clean-up time left behind by the pigs of the left, not so much form the right. It says everything I need to know about the supporters of either political side, & helps me decide who I want to stand with.

Re populist movements and "real Americans":
Don't be too quick to disregard them. The dis-satisfaction of the average middle-class taxpaying American ( the biggest voting block ) is growing.
On the economic side, in addition to now being saddled with an impending multi-trillion dollar tax debt to pay for the several stimulus and bail-out bills, they also face the spectres of potential or actual unemployment; of 401-K's becoming 201-K's; of huge energy and food cost increases due to Cap and Trade; of NEW taxes that were not authorized by Congress per Constitutional law but created by mandates and directives, with the force of law, issued by various Departments and alphabet Agencies.
On the social side, they are revolted by the increased attempts to legislate an "anything goes" morality by giving special preferences and protections to certain splinter groups; they are disturbed by the socialist dogma, revisionist history - both world and American, "alternative lifestyle" propaganda, "Gaia-ism", multiculturism etc being promulgated by the government-reguilated public schools ( Google home-schooling to see the increased %); they are angry about a President that not only refuses to stop the influx of ILLEGAL ( note the word) immigrants (including many drug smugglers and potential terrorists), but reports the State of Arizona to the UN for Human Rights violations ( this may become the over-saturation point). Those are just a few points of contention.
Among the goals of the Tea Party is the restoration of a LIMITED Federal government whose authority is ONLY that which is set forth in the US Constitution, all other authority going back to the several States of the Republic.
I don't know about you, but I'm tired of a Federal elite political class that RULES the people of the US instead of being ( as envisioned by the Founders) public servants that do ONLY what is necessary to promote the PUBLIC good, ensure domestic peace and tranquility, defend the country from enemies BOTH foreign and domestic, and otherwise stay out of the way so that each person can enjoy their unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (within a reasonable civic framework), unhindered by government over-regulation or intervention. Sound reasonable to you?
I am willing to bet free speech zones as it where did not begin with Bush, but regardless considering the hatred of the man it is not a bad thing to assume that he received a lot of dead threats by peace loving progressive liberals. With that said when the media wanted to hear dissent from Bush there was ALWAYS a camera there to promote it even if it was at these so called free speech zones. A sof rpeople being excluded not so there was never any exclusion UNLESS the person became violent or vocal to the point where there was DISRUPTION of the proceedings which is rude, but again being rude is not something that liberals like you look down upon.
You got that right progressive liberals are the minority but they are the ones with the loudest bark and they have control of the main stream media that is a problem. It is not good when the small amount of people are controlling the majority of the people with dissenting point of views.
