File this one in the folder labeled “Least Surprising Things That Have Happened This Week.” NPR has whipped out its corporate cookie cutter and used it to replace disgraced CEO Vivian Schiller.

If NPR is trying demonstrate in the wake of the video scandal that it embraces a diversity of viewpoints and is not the left-wing outlet it has been portrayed to be, its first move after the resignation of president and CEO Vivian Schiller isn’t a particularly good start.
After Schiller announced her resignation on Wednesday, the NPR Board of Directors promptly named Joyce Slocum as NPR’s interim CEO. According to a statement from NPR, Slocum’s appointment was part of a CEO succession plan adopted by the Board in 2009. Slocum, however, appears to be just another Democrat.
According to data from the Center for Responsive Politics website OpenSecrets.org, Slocum has donated $3,480 dating back to 1999 — all to Democratic candidates.
This barely qualifies as news. News would have been if they had hired someone who had even once in his or her life donated to a conservative. Or someone who would even admit to knowing one.
Yeah, if that were to happen NPR would be forced to do one of those “We interrupt this broadcast for this special news bulletin” announcements.

Of course the taxpayer still needs NPR. I mean, what would you do without NPR since nowadays there are only 500 other channels to watch or listen to.
Even people in the regions where they were supposed to be so concerned about get satellite or whatever. NPR is a dinosaur and it should not be funded by us anymore.
What was the original purpose of having a taxpayer funded media in the first place, wasn't ABC, NBC, CBS, et al., enough? So who cares if they change the windowcase dummy, she's still plastic banana, good-time, rock and roll BS?

Liberals are extremely narrow-minded, it would never occur to them to appoint someone who actually held a different point of view. Evidence of this is the 'conservative commentators' NPR will have on their channel, these commentators use 'conservative' as a moniker, not as beliefs, they're job is to act like the foil in a comedy routine, they will emphasize superficial differences in language for example, but ultimately they are all in heated agreement with each other - boring.

Are you even surprised at her appointment? The administration has to make sure that the propaganda machine is still running smoothly.
Let NPR stand on its own. If the people want to listen to it, then their revenues will go up. If they don't NPR will become just another failed government experiment that was a complete waste of TAX PAYER money and it can on the scrap heap with Air America.
I don't care who they appoint or hire. The comments made about me, a TEA Party member with a college degree, who is pro-choice, worked for county goverment (that was unionized) and not particularly religious, extremely insulting and I will never listen to, nor donate to NPR again. And I will encourage everyone I know in the TEA Party, no matter their political persuasion, to do the same. After the firing of Juan Williams, I suspected this was the attitude of the organization...the nail is now in the proverbial coffin. Defund NPR from the taxpayer dime...buh-bye.
I think Mrs. Slocum from "Are You Being Served" would have been a better choice, and I am unanimous in that.
