Team USA kicked Iran’s ass in the basketball world championships. The final score was the United States 88, Iran 51.
But on the political correctness scoreboard the score was Iran 1, USA 0 because the Team USA dancers were required to wear long pants in what was called a “nod to Muslim law.”
The Associated Press uncovered the cover-up:
[In] a nod to the Iranian supporters in Istanbul — which included minister of sports Ali Saeedlou earlier in the tournament — dancers were ordered to cover up for their performances during the game. Islam prohibits women from exposing their skin in public, and Iranian officials had turned their backs when the dancers performed in earlier games.
The dancers wore long pants Wednesday.
This, of course, is in sharp contrast to the way the Obama administration normally drops its pants for the Iranians.

Why don't they drop a few million copies of Playboy over Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, etc. so their boys can get a look at what they're missing? Follow that up with a few million portable gaming systems and other fun gadgets.
Well in all reality the men are not missing out on anything. The men give themselves permission to do and see whatever they want.
Turkey is actually not a backwards place, but Iran and Afghanistan (and others are).

Really, the philosophy ought to be simple. If a house burns down with a koran in it, or if a goat herder has a heart attack, dies, and his goats eat his koran, there is no sin. If a non-believer burns a koran, since they are not a muslim, it isn't the Koran to them -- just a bunch of paper. It only becomes sacrilege when a muslim burns it.
Same goes for cartoons of Muhammed -- a non-believer has no islamic understanding of it, and so it's just noise.
However, that would take courage on the part of their religious leadership to bring that point across. Currently, they see value in getting people to wear dynamite underpants, and whipping the ignorant and stupid into a frenzy works for that.

One of the major tenets of Islam is that even speaking against or questioning the koran is punishable by death. It's built right into the system and non-negotiable. Same goes for destroying or in any way desecrating one. Ditto for doubting, speaking against or insulting Islam or mohammed ( cursed be his name). Ignorance / non-belief is no defense.
Exactly!!! The koran reads like that scene in Mel Brooks 'History of the World Part One' when he's looking through King Louis desk for a pardon... "Execution, execution, execution, execution,... tough guy..., execution, execution, pardon! Ah-ha! I found one at the bottom!"
Skin or spandex, whatever, they still look hot. Keep in mind, this tourny is being held in Turkey. Basically, it is a muslim nation, not officially, but for all intents & purposes, it is.
In the constitution it is deemed a secular country so its Islamic aspects are basically cultural. With that said it is meant to be an all encompassing form of life. I don't mind being respectful of the culture where I was invited to do something. I just think it is hypocritical for them to get mad when they are not very gracious towards the guests to their countries and THEIR cultural leanings.
There are three things about Muslims and their book o' learnin' that everybody needs to be aware of:
1. It is perfectly acceptable for muslims to lie their a$$es off to "infidels" in order to advance their religion.
2. In the Koran, later passages supercede earlier passages if they are in conflict with one another. Guess what, the later passages are the ones where Mohammad went bat$*&! crazy and decided that the entire world must live under his (sharia) law or die.
3. When Muslims say they wany peace they are not lying. However, they are taught that peace will only occur when we all live under sharia law - until then - no peace. Simply, that means that their beheadings and suicide bombings are A-OK because they are an avenue towards peace in their minds.
Say what you will about Christianity and Judaism - while there are issues in these religions, they are mostly due to the hand of the human leadership and not the true teachings of God. The Koran and Islam on the other hand? THey are messed up beyond repair.
That is the truth as I see it.

You are grossly generalizing. The Black culture as it where has embraced many different cultures and adapted them into their story. One can argue embraced (in some parts) the bad parts of the other cultures (example: Italian mob/gangster culture), but that is an argument best left for another time. All in all though it is not factual to say that blacks in general have embraced Muslim identity as MOST blacks would tell you that they are in one way or another Christian or Judeo-Christian G-d believing people.
In the 60's many Blacks were associating with Afro centric themes that were not in any way muslim.

Not so much. I know plenty of black people who are not muslim and do not take on muslim names, and feel that embracing islam is embracing the only modern religion that still sanctions slavery. What you are referring to is a fad, and like all fads, runs out of steam.
You have to realize that 'modern' is in regards to it being practiced at the current period in history. A more fair term would be "medieval', but 'atavistic', 'brutal', 'savage', and 'barbaric' also come to mind.
Really, their problem is their religion needs something like the Reformation, but I don't know -- Christianity and Judaism both have a core that you can reform to, and an original language that can be interpreted in terms of the current culture -- not sure what they can reform to that isn't something straight out of the dark ages, and even if it did, there doesn't seem to be any desire to do so.
The guy on Hannity day before yesterday had an interesting point about the various translations, some of which are apparently less bloodthirsty.
That is an issue. The core of the religion is actually being practiced by the fundamentalists who can be the ones that turn to terrorism to bring the words into practice. So all in all those so called moderate muslims have watered down the core of the religion so in all reality moderate muslims have transformed the core of the religion into something less fundamental.
