Looks like 2009 is going to be a big, big year for Sarah Obama, the President’s grandmother.
First she attended her definitely, positively, absolutely non-Muslim grandson’s Presidential inauguration in January. Now it’s been announced that she will attend the hajj. According to FreeDictionary.com, “at least once in a lifetime a Muslim is expected to make a religious journey to Mecca and the Kaaba; for a Muslim the hajj is the ultimate act of worship…”

US President Barack Obama’s paternal grandmother, Sara Obama, will perform haj this year along with her son Syed Obama, a private TV channel reported on Saturday. According to the channel, Sara and Syed will also visit Dubai before going to Saudi Arabia for performing haj. Sara (85) is an active participant in welfare and charity programmes. The channel said performing haj is one of the most desired wishes of the US president’s grandmother. daily times monitor.
Grandma’s trip is being paid for by Kenyan property tycoon Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim, who will also accompany her on the Hajj.
A few weeks ago, we reported that Kenya’s Christians and Muslims were battling for the soul of Sarah Obama.
Looks like the Muslims won.

Last year I walked a 1200 km pilgrimage path around the island of Shikoku in Japan. It's a Buddhist pilgrimage. The participants, though, can come from any faith or none - the spiritual aspect is up to the participant. Anyone who walks such a path as, for example - in Spain: "El Camino", the Haj to Mecca for Muslims - even of those in mediaeval 14th century England memorialised in Geoffrey CHAUCER's "Canterbury Tales" - deserves respect - not the sneering I have stumbled across in this blog in search for the meaning f Mim as a term for grand-mother! Barack OBAMA's grand-mother merits respect!

Apparently you have never read a history book. Islam is, and has been the most insidious sect of all for forcing itself on others. Perhaps you should listen to what the Imams say every day about bringing this country to its knees and forcing islam and sharia law on all of us. With as uneducated a statement about the motives of muslims as you just made I hope you get a real nice burka to wear while you become the chattel of some ignorant muslim sheik. I really don't like the way you addressed the issue, and I also don't like the way people are thinking of it. Obama's grandmother is of a different religion, and she's just practicing the demands of her religion. Nothing is wrong with that. And the fact that she went to Hajj doesn't mean she asked for charity. It is perfectly okay that after he was voted US President, she would ask him for the one thing she wanted to do. And yes Islam doesn't force itself on anyone. The link you posted proves nothing. It wasn't Islam what killed those pastors, it was people just like you and me. They made a mistake, probably a HUGE one, but a mistake nonetheless. And you know what, it's really possible that whoever killed those pastors were people pretending to be Muslims just so people like you would believe them and talk in this way about Islam. Islam is a religion just like Christianity and Judaism, and it should be respected not taunted. Its rules are a bit different, a bit more demanding, but people in the religion feel happy doing them. So just, respect people of all different religions and know your boundaries, because in the end it doesn't really matter. I have friends off all religions and we are extremely close because we all respect each other's religion.
