Why has President Obama spent more than $1,000,000 to prevent the release of his birth and college records?

• Personally I would agree to go direct to Boehner - but I can't find the legal reason to bypass a sitting VP unless the whole ticket is overturned...

  Anyhow - like so many work problems we were ALL distracted by the excess information - the answer to "Why has President Obama spent more than $1,000,000..." (or any politician!) is that IT IS NOT HIS MONEY ! ! !

• This is such a FASCINATING Question whether it is hypothetical or real -
  If this presidency is illegitimate -
  1) Can you impeach an impostor since he isn't actually president? and
  2) Since Biden CAN produce a birth certificate, would the running mate of a fraudulent president still be the replacement?

• This may sound like a stupid question... I am not into politics that much so I don't know how it all works.... but how does someone hold a government office without at least once showing his/her birth certificate? Obama held a government office before he was elected to be president. For every other job in the world, your birth certificate is required, so wouldn't you think for a job as important as president, especially since the NATURAL CITIZEN requirement is in place, that he would have to show proof that he is a natural citizen? And I thought that since his mother was a citizen at the time of his birth, that automatically made him American? My brother was born in a different country but because my mom was a U.S. citizen, he had the same rights as a citizen. Just random thoughts, from someone who doesn't really know much about the subject, sorry if it sounds stupid. lol

  • I think that a birth certificate would be needed to show proof of identity, not citizenship...plenty of foreign born people can and do hold public office... Cabinet positions, Governors, Mayors. etc, although the few i'm aware of are also naturalized citizens. Also, one does not need to be a citizen to join the US Military...I think they have to serve their time (honorably) that they signed up for and then they are fast tracked to citizenship, but I could be mistaken.

    Now, I would think that it would depend on the policy of the government (state, local, federal) on whether they just 'look' at it and say, "Okey-dokey, looks good to me" and hand it back, OR do they keep a copy...some may keep them for a short time and then shred it...who knows. Plus, how many government paper pushers know that a COLB isn't the same as a BC? (I'm referring to the average joe getting a gov't job).

    Twenty years ago, I do know that Social Security kept copies of marriage licenses for 6 months, then shredded...not even micofiched...probably enough time to process the claims and investigate any discrepancies, etc.

• For the sake of the argument, let's say that Captain Zero was born in Hawaii and it really is legit.

  Why oh, why then, would he spend the time and capital to keep it from the public?

  What could possibly be embarrassing for him? There really are only a couple of reasons that are plausible to cause him to create jobs for people to suppress it.

  -That his race is listed as 'white'?....who cares? The black community claims him in their column (as does Barry in the 2010 Census), so he's got that vote.

  -That his religion is listed as Muslim?...I know it's controversial, but who cares? I care more if he's LYING about BEING a Christian.

  -That at the time of his birth his mother was unmarried and it is stamped, ILLEGITIMATE...some states did that back then and nobody these days cares much about that...but it also blows holes in the 'my parents were married' thingy.

  -That a different man is listed as the father OR "name not given". BIG deal if it is either one of those, as it would prove he lied and perpetuated a fraud (Dreams of My Father, The BS Edition).

  Something is going on, but what is the big issue about refusing to release ANYTHING that has a paper trail from the moment of his birth. All I know is that if it were anything else that required proof as to your place of birth, the COLB would not suffice, even in a court of law.

  • When we finally got Gore's college records we learned that he had flunked out of a couple colleges. And when we finally saw Kerry's we found out that his GPA was lower than Bush's.

• The fact that he has paid lawyers, doesn't mean he is paying lawyers "to keep his birth certificate and college records secret." That's just silly - so why do you want to believe it? There is not a shred of evidence for that. I know, because I've been trying to figure out why so many people on the Internet say it. I guess you're all just repeating after one another.
