Robots writing more news stories than you think

RobotWriter.jpg
Robots writing more news stories than you think. Yesterday, a robot broke the LA earthquake story, for example. By 2030, they expect 90% of news stories will be written by robots. It’s a conundrum for the profession of journalism: how will they convince robots that nothing is Obama’s fault and Tea Partiers are racists?

Michelle: ‘There Were Actually Laws in America that Allowed Discrimination Against Black People Like Me’

Michelle: ‘There Were Actually Laws in America that Allowed Discrimination Against Black People Like Me’. Yes there were. And they were deplorable, disgusting and the shame of those that feel the state has the authority to establish two, or more, sets of rules for America. Unfortunately those people are still with us. And our beloved First Lady is married to one of them.

Thousands of Puerto Ricans look to leave as island enters 8th year of recession

Thousands of Puerto Ricans look to leave as island enters 8th year of recession. “People who live off government support here are doing better than those of us who work and pay taxes.” From each according to their ability, to each according to their need – the Constitution sez so in the Santa Commerce clause.

White House pushes “wooden skyscrapers” as a solution to global warming

White House pushes “wooden skyscrapers” as a solution to global warming. Hmmm… wood is made from trees and trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and replace it with oxygen. So maybe making everything out of wood is not really the best idea if carbon dioxide is a problem. But it’s a great way to suck up to Big Lumber.

California gubernatorial candidate has an interesting past

California gubernatorial candidate has an interesting past. “Glenn Champ is a man with a past — a criminal past — and he wants the voters of California to elect him governor because, as a criminal, he can deal better with politicians.” And he’s a registered sex offender so he’s qualified. “We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office.” – Aesop

First openly gay House Speaker resigns after FBI raid

Fox_FBIRaid.jpg
First openly gay House Speaker resigns after FBI raid. For four years, almost every headline about this guy started out with the words, “First openly gay House Speaker.” Now the headline simply says, “Gordon Fox resigns as House speaker…” Suddenly, sexual preference (and political party) is irrelevant.

Soros and Lagarde’s IMF vs Putin’s Russia – The Ukraine coup and the war for the world…

Soros and Lagarde’s IMF vs Putin’s Russia – The Ukraine coup and the war for the world… “…an alternative take on the Russian/Ukraine ‘crisis’…” Hey, how come the Democrat-Media complex doesn’t bloviate about Soros’ influence in politics (which is much greater than the Kochs’.) Maybe “Soros” has too many letters for them to remember. Keep it stupid, simple.

Seattle socialist Sawant challenged face-to-face about minimum wage

Seattle socialist Sawant challenged over minimum wage: Recently small business men and woman took the city council member to task over her war on small business, prosperity, employment and the middle class through a push to price fix wages. From the exchange it seems likely that Sawant has never run anything ever -with the exception of other people’s lives. (video at link)

The Washington Post’s suspect attack on the Koch Brothers

The Washington Post’s suspect attack on the Koch Brothers. “Maybe it’s a coincidence that this particular reporter is blowing the Koch brothers influence all out of proportion on a hot button environmental issue, right as the Democratic Party is ramping up a multi-million dollar ad campaign against them. Maybe it’s also a coincidence that Tom Steyer sits on the board of the Center For American Progress where her husband works.” Ummm, right, whatta coincidence…

Astronaut Steven Swanson hitches ride on Soyuz

AstroCosmo.jpg
As Russia and U.S. butt heads in Ukraine, astronaut Steven Swanson hitches ride on Soyuz. He’s supposed to blast off Tuesday with two Russian cosmonauts but, if Putin says no more rides for Americans, there will be no way for astronauts to reach the International Space Station because another one of Obama’s brilliant decisions was ending the space shuttle program… which sucks for Swanson but sucks even more for astronaut Rick Mastracchio who’s already up there and won’t have a ride home.

Mandates never work: The case of auto insurance

Mandates never work: The case of auto insurance. “…it is a fantasy that a group of legislators in Washington, DC or Albany, NY can wave their magic wands and make everybody do what they want.” The aim is not to actually fix anything, it’s to create opportunities for rent-seeking and power-grabs while making the rubes who voted for the idiots feel good about themselves.

The boom in smuggling to avoid cigarette taxes

The boom in smuggling to avoid cigarette taxes. “More than half of the cigarettes sold in New York State are smuggled in from other places to avoid the Empire State’s taxes on smokes, which have soared nearly 200 percent since 2006…” Tax-happy, “laws are for the little people” politicians encourage this kind of thing – crap rolls downhill from the top.

Beijing hotel workers already ‘fed up’ with Obama entourage in 3400-square-foot, $8,350-per-night suite inconveniencing ‘pretty much everyone’ – and the first lady’s mother is ‘barking at the staff’

Beijing hotel workers already ‘fed up’ with Obama entourage in 3400-square-foot, $8,350-per-night suite inconveniencing ‘pretty much everyone’ – and the first lady’s mother is ‘barking at the staff‘. We’d make an educated guess that the White House staff are probably having a party about now, chanting “Free at last! Free at last!”
