Paul Ryan sets fire to the pile of kindling known as Harry Reid’s budget plan

Here’s the deal. If we can’t have Marco Rubio’s baby, we want to have Paul Ryan’s baby. Both of these guys offer a superior gene pool for little Ronald Reagan Ryan or Ronald Reagan Rubio. We’ll be fabulous mothers and raise the kid right.

Here’s Ryan explaining the faulty logic behind Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid absurd budget plan:

“Let’s pass a bill to cover the moon with yogurt that will cost $5 trillion today. And then let’s pass a bill the next day to cancel that bill. We could save $5 trillion.”

Don’t know about you, but Ryan is getting us kind of hot right now.

    • Didja see "The question conservatives can't answer."? OMFG what a bunch of pretentious twats.

    • Every time I have read a "WTF?" article in the last 3 weeks, Amanda Marcotte has been the author. Hrrmm...

    • You can just hear the bong bubble while she was typing that.

We used to have a text generator that would generate random text for our employee reviews -- you'd click a radio button for good, average, needs improvement, or whatever, and it would generate a sentence of corporate-ese on your review for your employee to ignore. It was loaded with a list of buzzwords and phrases, and would make it look like you spent time being sincere in your employee evaluation.

They replaced it with a row of radio buttons to the effect of "good, average, needs improvement", as nobody ever read the garbage it generated except HR drones, who mentally translated it into "good, average, needs improvement" based upon the first two or three words.

Now I know who bought that software. Wonder what the real radio buttons are behind it?

      "psycho, wacko, out-to-lunch, blame Bush"?

      • "We used to have a text generator that would generate random text for our employee reviews ..."

I have an "artist statement" text generator that is very similar to that.

It's called the Arty Bollocks Generator - For use with funding applications, exhibitions, curriculum vitae, websites ...It is absolutely brilliant. A paradigm of pomposity, as it were.

  • We're NOT gonna cover the moon with yogurt? This is going to evoke a stinging rebuke from Comrade Krugman regarding this country's divisive unfair meanness to lunar yogurt conniseurs. When are going to stop harming possible moon creatures who only wish to eat healthily????

  • come on guys! don't you know you are supposed to spend money to make money? *ROLLS EYES* Prince Harry is an elitist, arrogant idiot who filibustered his own bill. If he didn't have the unions using their thuggery to get him reelected he'd have gone the way of Alan Grayson. He can't stand on his own.

  • So I've been thinking it should work both ways. I'm gonna claim a few hundred thousand of capital loss on my income tax because of the money I didn't make in the stock market this year. Or I could argue a capital loss because my 1 dollar lottery ticket failed to return that 135 mil jackpot. If challenged, I'll just have Harry explain how this must be OK.

  • As usual, Ryan's got it right. We're not saving jack s**t. That's like the little lady coming home bragging about all the money she saved when in actuality she just spent $1,000.00...

    • The more you spend, the more you save! This is one of the basic principles of Progressive economics.

      • Reminds me of when we moved my in-laws several years ago. As I was packing up the garage stuff, I found 82 rolls of toilet paper stored (all different brands). I asked my mother-in-law (who I love dearly) why the two of them needed 82 rolls on hand. She said "because they were on sale!" I told her "they're always on sale!" I still rib them and we all still laugh about it. Wish I could say the same thing for the debacle that is about to be voted on!

        • When my wife and I were newlyweds, she had this thing about spending $20 on something but saying she saved $40 because it was on sale or clearance or something. And it would come out like this: "Guess what! I saved you $40 today!" And I would say "No, you didn't save me anything...you spent $20. I have $20 less than when you went shopping."

It took me years, but I finally got this pounded into her. The ONLY time you save money is when you budgeted to purchase something and it cost less that what you had planned. Waiting for it to go on sale, using a coupon or finding an unadvertised markdown allows you to save money on it.

Governments do not think in this fashion. They do not save money. Ever. They always spend what they are given. If something costs less than what was budgeted, they use the difference to get something else as well. Example: I am sitting here at my place of employment looking at 215 computers that a state agency purchased at the end of the fiscal year because they "had to use the money or lose it." They don't really need them, but they got them anyway. We have stored them for weeks now and may not actually deliver them until Christmas. With that line of thinking it's no wonder we are in this debt and budget situation. God knows I can't run my own finances that way.

        • A number of years back , we had moved from a home that we had been in about 18 years. In going through some boxes , I came upon a "LARGE" amount of ice removers for the cars . 12 dozen to be exact. 144 to those who are lacking. 144 f--cking ice removers.

I asked my wife , where did all these come from ? " They were on sale , 75 cents each. They were nice , real nice. So I stood out on a large intersection , handing an ice remover to who ever would take one . FREE , zilch , nothing. About an hour later , most had been disposed of. I kept a dozen , but that was still too many .

I also found "ALL !!!!!!! " the Easter baskets that my wife had saved , for all those years , for 5 sons+ . " Oh , I kept them just incase the boys wanted them ". ............... And so it goes. My advise , be careful what you pray for, ............... the end.

          • I think that is so sweet! Handing out the ice scrapers! I know exactly what she was thinking, though. You find one you love and you'll never find a replacement for it when you need one. Of course a dozen might be a bit much- especially if you live in So Cal. lol
