Cancel your vacation plans: Predictions for ice free Arctic summers pushed back. Again.

Damn it. We were so sure our investment in a summer resort in the Arctic was going to pay off in a big way. But now the predictions for an ice-free Arctic have been pushed back. Yet again.

The BBC has the new, improved ice free prediction:

Scientists who predicted a few years ago that Arctic summers could be ice-free by 2013 now say summer sea ice will probably be gone in this decade.

The original prediction, made in 2007, gained Wieslaw Maslowski’s team a deal of criticism from some of their peers.

Now they are working with a new computer model – compiled partly in response to those criticisms – that produces a “best guess” date of 2016.

Best guess. That’s a highly scientific term that means “making shit up as we go along.”

        • I don't know canuck. Barb, being a lady, may have a little trouble writing her name in the snow so you might have to help her.

Sorry Barb, I could not help myself! It's that smartass streak I have trouble controlling that makes me do it. lol

          • Ha! Canuckian women are very good at writing our names in the snow.

But I think it has something to do with drinking lots of beer, a national sport here.

  • Liberal scientists first asked, "how can I theorize something, ie make it up, so I can get more grant money?" Universities are full of liberal scientists because it is easier to get grant money from liberal governments than it is to make a real living in the real world market place competing with real scientists who follow scientific principles, ie. are really curious and challenge all theories. Like Obama, they also bow, but to their king, The aL Gore.

  • Consensus - that's another scientific term which means I found some other dumbasses who believe in my best guess.

  • The scientists went on to say...The South Pole will melt sooner then that, it being south and stuff, and the south being hot and things.

    • It's ok. I wasn't concerned when they said it would happen right away, and I'm not concerned now. Nothing has changed.
