Ron Paul: If enhanced pat downs are good enough for the American people, they’re good enough for Congress

Ron Paul has had his best idea ever – the American Traveler Dignity Act.

His simple theory is that the best way to get rid of X-ray screenings and enhanced pat downs for airline travelers is to force congress to experience the same sort of humiliation when they travel.

We like the concept, but let’s get serious. Paul’s bill will get passed about the same time Congress starts using the same medical and retirement plans they force on the rest of us.

  • A couple of things...

    1. It looks like most TSA employees should be registered as sex offenders.

    2. Janet Napolitano should be forced on live television to go through one of these new scanners. I want to know once & for all what her actual gender is. My guess is hers is bigger then Obama's.

    3. This looks like yet another step toward the left's wet dream of a police state. This is gonna get worse before it gets better.

  • I agree. Airlines should hire private companies to do security and the airport so have two security lines the airport first and then the airlines right after getting to the actual waiting area for the planes. Get competition going trust me companies will make sure to go for what actually works... dogs, profiling behavioral patterns, etc. The best one gets the contract. Then have the private company have access to important data concerning terrorist movements and have them sign whatever they have to sign for confidentitality. Rely less on technology and more in people. Hire veterans. Have the military overlook and help train. hello?

No corrupt person gets rich when you do things right that is the problem. he is right about that as well.

I will go through the machine becuase I dont travel very often, but in the end this is unnaceptable... those things do record and save those images. It is absolutely disgusting and the minute Congress gets treated the same indeed they will stop.

  • Why stop at the TSA treatment?

How about Congress MUST go with the health care they just forced upon us?

How about the Congress MUST use the retirement plans that we all have to use?

How about the Congress MUST go by normal accounting?

  • Enough of this crap. Hunt down and kill the terrorists before they kill any of us. If the government of a defined nation-state ordered their troops to fire artillery at us constantly, we wouldn't just sit on our butts even if we managed to block all their shells somehow.

    • That used to be true. Under this administration we probably would sign some sort of surrender admitting everything was our fault. We would then pledge billions of dollars and promise to stop doing the things that offend them.

  • If Barry's wife and two daughters had to get felt up everytime they traveled , things might change.

As I see it , the only person that might actually enjoy the "enhanced " pat downs would be Barney Frank and his type. They might even go for the cavity search or more. Just sayin.

    • I'm thinking that just having Napalitano strip searched each time she flies would end this crap. But I pity the poor sucker that has to do THAT search.

  • you can lay the formation of the TSA at the feet of goerge bush, along with the 250,000 employees of the useless Dept. of Homeland Security. additionally, michael chertoff, has a vested interested in the company that makes the body scanners, as his consulting/lobbying firm represents, the manufacture. this were purchased and ordered under bushes watch and they're just now getting implemented.

    • You forgot to mention that George Soros also has a vested interest in the company that makes the body scanners. Or did you conveniently forget that little detail?

    • It's always about Bush, isn't it? But Bush has been in our rear-view miorror for 22 months now, it's your nut-boy and his gang running running the show.

What we have now is theater of the absurd, it started under Bush and has gotten worse under Obama. The only way it can be brought under control is by a program of sensible profiling. Failing that, every member of Congress, the federal judiciary and the White House should go through the same pre-flight security as the average American.

  • Eric Holder was partially right, the Obama admin. is cowardly when it comes to race. That`s why we are profiling things, shoes, liquids, underwear, instead of looking for terrorist`s.

    • The whole thing is a complete joke. I think the entire TSA was thought up during a drunken poker game between congressmen. "I bet those dipshits will stand an extra 50 minutes in line because of that shoe guy!" "No way! You're on! "

Security experts have said it helps nothing. Someone can walk in with a bomb in a suitcase and get all the people waiting in line at security or ticketing. On busy days that mass of people is more than a jet liner load.

The Israelis do it right. They profile.
