Case in point: School officials in Seattle are now waging a war against the evils of Easter and it’s eggs.
Mynorthwest.com tells us which came first, the chickens or the idiots:
A sophomore at a local private high school thinks an effort to make Easter politically correct is ridiculous.
Jessica, 16, told KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson Show that a week before spring break, the students commit to a week-long community service project. She decided to volunteer in a third grade class at a public school, which she would like to remain nameless.
“At the end of the week I had an idea to fill little plastic eggs with treats and jelly beans and other candy, but I was kind of unsure how the teacher would feel about that,” Jessica said.
She was concerned how the teacher might react to the eggs after of a meeting earlier in the week where she learned about “their abstract behavior rules.”
“I went to the teacher to get her approval and she wanted to ask the administration to see if it was okay,” Jessica explained. “She said that I could do it as long as I called this treat ‘spring spheres.’ I couldn’t call them Easter eggs.”
Funny, in their haste to save children from the horrors of the Easter egg these “educators” have laid one of their own.

I heard Jessica telling her story on Dori Monson's show. The best part came at the end when Dori asked her if she brought the "Spring Spheres" to school. Jessica replied that she did and when she presented them, the teacher said, "Oh look, kids, they're Spring Spheres!" and all of the kids are yelling, "Yay!! Easter eggs!!".
Kids say the darndest things!

Bunnies don't lay eggs, they lay other bunnies. The eggs are for coloring in delightfully gay pastels, maybe the arts and crafts that are being pushed aside had something to do with that, but I doubt that. How long do you suppose coloring eggs has been going on? How much of that time was it specifically for Easter? Faberge comes to mind. So here we have a load of things virtually completely unrelated to Jesus' resurrection. Bunny. Egg. I never got it. But I do remember being unaffected by eating those hard boiled eggs more than a week after easter and they weren't refrigerated, they stayed in my basket of goodies in my room. For some reason I wouldn't do that today.
I have had it. I am calling for a Crusade against the Seattle Teachers Association.

If the school didn't want any trouble, they should have just banned the eggs due to their supposed-religious connotations. But that also would mean they should ban other "religious" things and have basically a no-tolerance policy, which, from other reports of that school, isn't the case.
I'll say it: religion doesn't belong in a public school. Because if you allow one in, you then must be "tolerant" and allow them all in. ...though, whether "Easter eggs" are actually religious or not is a whole other debate.
The eggs have no supposed religious connations. That is why this is stupid on a lot of levels. Their fears were based and representative of their own ignorance, intolerance and stupidity and nothing more. Other than to mention (Jesus did) that a parent will give an egg to a child that ask for it and not a scorpion, so to explain that G-d Almighty will not withhold good things to those who ask Him for good things, there is no other mention of an egg in the Bible (that I can think of at this point in time) that has any special meaning. I don't believe that eggs being religious symbols or not belong to another debate. They belong on this debate, because we know the REASONING behind the stupidity. It was religious intolerance, but the symbols ARE NOT religious in of themselves and that is a serious problem.

In public schools they should approach religion the way GOVERNMENT should approach religion which is :
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
"Congress (in this case Public Schools) shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..."
WHICH means that the PUBLIC school does not have to be named or called by any religious name and the PUBLIC school does not have to establish any religion within the confines of the school building or school system. Public Schools do not do that, they don't have to and they shouldn't. PRIVATE schools can and should do it, if they feel like it. So a public school does not have to, nor shouldn't say we are a Jewish public school. That presents a lot of problems for muslims families that would for some reason rather send their child(ren) to a public school.

Public schools SHOULD not restrict nor prohibit nor be intolerant against established religions and their practices WITHIN the confines of the schools. If the "religion" in question promotes violence, hatred, sexual malfunctions and dysfunctions and so on and so forth then this is not a peaceful religion and the safety of the students should trump the practice of this "religion" or else the perversion of a real benign religion. Why? because obviously people have a right to liberty and pursuit of happiness, and if the practice of a malevolent "religion" or a perversion of an established religion is afflicting that right, then their eternal rights of being free of oppression should trump it. Example if a school official wants the students to pray five times during the school hours to Allah specifically he is infringing the students rights to exercise their OWN religion the way they see fit and it is establishing a religion in the school which is in violation of the first part of the amendment.
Most religions are benign and tolerant, so this shouldn't be a problem on a day by day, year to year basis. So, if a student wants to pray or if a teacher wants to pray or if a school official wants to pray then he or she should be able to do so in freedom. The expression of a religion should never be restricted, unless there are good reasons to do so and the good reasons to do so are far in between and rare. If an atheist (or whoever else) would rather not participate he or she doesn't have to. They can remain quiet and peacefully and respectfully let others practice their religion in peace, remove themselves from the area, or those that want to practice can remove themselves to a specified area within the school, and the religious students, teachers or school officials should not violently impose their beliefs on others. It is also very possible to keep G-d or Deity as the reason for worship and not include Jesus or Allah in prayers. Schools can and should allow religious clubs within the schools so children can attend and be with like minded individuals and if praying for the protection of the players and not include any unique name of a Deity a person can pray over the protection of the players on the football field without a problem. So... religion can and should have a space in public schools. Having knee jerk ignorant reactions is not the way to go, because in essence they are VIOLATING the first amendment rights of the students, officials, teachers and parents.
Well, they could have banned the eggs for the cholesterol they contain. Even if they WERE plastic eggs, because plastic eggs symbolize cholesterol, and even a symbol of cholesterol could cause hardening of the arteries.

I have been without a burger (and chocolate) for Lent. I am going to be real with you, I know it is not good to eat burgers in excess, but a burger here and there? Yummy! Although I got to admit I cannot really assess its ability to provide cynicism to the eater. I will eat a burger in a couple of weeks and make a test run.
Hey KQ, it's not just the fattening foods but the attitude that goes with the food. You gotsta have the "A", and of course, the gameface helps! Cynicism is hard to keep up without a large caloric intake and we are talking about a BIIIIIIIG bloated gubment, so you need a lot of calories. I usually go big with my fries and drinks because I know I'll need the extra fats and caffeine to really get in the Big G Zone. Of course, you need to work out a little, you know, just to get the ol blood pumping and all...master the Zen of Cynicism! It helps to sleep a lot too!

You don't have to be a Christian as this is a secular celebration and yes, it is indeed very stupid. It is also anti-Spring, anti-children, anti-candy, anti-families, anti-sunshine and anti-rainbows.
Now I ask you what do these morons have against spring, candy, sunshine and rainbows? They are soulless fools. Spring is awesome and so is candy (yum) and sunshines is good for you (it makes you happy and has Vitamin D) and rainbows are beautiful. What is wrong with people? As for being anti children and anti families I am not surprised. The educational system has been design to minimize family impact on society and children (in general terms) now are stupid and full of rage and I say the schools are at great fault there.

The students are lied to, being told they may not pray, and may not have a bible. Lies from satan. But the children are intimidated because the (false) correction is always out of hate, not out of love. 'Obey your master'. Schools don't teach creationism. Christian parents please support your teachers and leaders that are Believers. How do you know who believes? Ask them where they go to church. If they say they don't, invite them.
