President Senator Marco Rubio makes his first speech on the floor of the Senate

mark rubio

Tuesday may go down in history as … well … historic. That’s the day future President Marco Rubio offered his first speech on the floor of the Senate.

Yeah, well, maybe we’re getting ahead of ourselves just a little here, but we love this guy. His speech was built on the theme of “The New American Century” and highlighted what he called “the American miracle.”

“Indeed we do now stand at a turning point in our history,” Rubio noted. “One where there are only two ways forward for us. We will either bring on another American century, or we are doomed to witness America’s decline.”

Telegenic. Smart as a whip. A Reaganesque speaker. Hispanic. Conservative.

Ready for your close up, Mr. President.

  • You are right if the parents where naturalized before Rubio or Jindal where born. I have seen Jingal's birth certificate and his parents was Indian citizens, so he would not qualify. I'am not sure where I read it, but Rubio's parents at the time of his birth was not naturalized, which would make him a citizen, but not a natural born citizen. Which is a shame becuase I think both are great men. I've read the treaty of the canal zone and it specifically said Colon, Panama was not part of the canal zone, and the Hospital was not military, which makes McCain only a citizen. Obama I have no idea what he his.

    • Some parts of Colon were considered CZ areas. It is really weird how it was all set up. In any case, it is a very muddled issue indeed.

  • Natural Born Citizen means being born in country of parents who are citizens. Don'nt believe me do a little research into history. John Jay First Supreme Court Justice of the United States, four Supreme Cases, in Jan 2011 a Supreme Court Justice of New York State and the main framer of the 14th admendment all gave that as the definition. Rubio, Obama, McCain and Jingal are not qualified to be President. McCain because he was born in Colon, Panama which was not part of the canal treaty. Polititians lied to us when they vetted McCain, he was not born in the canal zone. Why didn'nt they vet Obama?

    • "Natural Born Citizen means being born in country of parents who are citizens."

It should completely mean being born IN the country FROM US citizens (born or naturalized). If Marco Rubio's parents are not born and/or naturalized citizens he doesn't qualify (shouldn't). I do not believe that LEGAL immigrants (naturalized citizens) should not aspire to mentor their children (born in the US) into political service and if it leads to the Presidency. I think that would be bad and I don't think the framers of the Constitution would disagree.

So the question is: Are Rubio's parents legal immigrants who became US citizens? If yes there is no issue here for him to become President.

So what is the answer to that question?

The same goes for Jingal. He was born in the US that is one down. Are his parents legal immigrants who became US citizens?

Obama... only one parent was US born. The other parent as long as I know wasn't a US citizen (he wasn't naturalized). In my opinion, that does disqualify Obama even if he was born in the US (which is suspect).

I don't know about McCain. There are parts of Colon which are under the Treaty. Especially if he was born in a US military hospital and I heard that he was. He qualifies as two parents being born US citizens and he being born under US treaty territory so to speak. That would take care of the in the country bit. However if it is true that he wasn't born in a US treaty territory then no he does not qualify. However he qualifies more than Mr. O, because he is a citizen (there is no doubt of that), both his parents were/are citizens and he was born (possibly) in a US treaty territory.

Why didn't they vet Obama appropriately? Because Obama is black and the press and those in the know wanted a black President to prove to the world that we are no longer racists. There could be many other reasons like Obama being the perfect tool for the Progressive movement.

  • Kimmy, it DID bring questions from the MSM. Don't you remember?

"What kind of lunatics are you, questioning the citizenship of our Messiah?"

    • Yes you are right about that. Obama had to win no matter what. The media had to prove that the US is not a racist country anymore... and yet we are talking about race more now than 10 years ago... why is that?

      • Why? Because Obama is The Great Divider, that's why. He, himself is a racist. So is Michelle who has always supported Black Separatism. Just look at the Obama/Holder DOJ who closes blind eyes to New Black Panthers with billy sticks guarding a polling place in the 2008 elections... or their internal policy of applying racist protection to minorities only. Read Obama's books and (long history of) his love of America hating radicals.
While Rubio speaks from his heart love of America, Obama speaks from his heart of his great disdain for this nation and it's glorious history. It is my own personal hope to see this America loving young man in the Whitehouse one day. You want to talk about a 2012 "Dream Team" of candidates? How about Allen West and Marco Rubio?
West would cure the notion that Obama has poisoned the well for future black presidents...in fact, I don't see him as an African American, I see him only as a rock solid conservative, patriot. Rubio is just the consumate poster child of American exceptionalism. I would vote for those two all day long (isn't that what the Democrats/Progressives do?)

    • There are no issues. The only possible issue is if his parents are illegal and not citizens on their own (naturalized). If is parents are citizens naturalized or born, he is more than eligible since he was born in the USA as he himself said in his speech.

      • @KimmyQueen - just to clarify your point. It doesn't matter if his parents were citizens or not. HE was born in the US, which makes him a citizen under the prevailing laws that have been in place since the 70s. This is why there is such a controversy about illegal immigrants having "anchor babies". ICE cannot deport the parents of a newly born US citizen because that would be cruel. Hence there is a push to remove the "birth in the US automatically makes you a citizen" - removing the concept of "anchor baby"... Even if his parents weren't naturalized prior to his birth, he would hold dual citizenship, one of those being a US citizenship.

Just thought I'd point that out...

        • Okay that is the reason why I asked the question/made the comment. Overall any child from an illegal immigrant who is born here can be President and I dont think that is appropriate that is just how I personally feel on that. So I think that needs to change. However based on that alone yes he can be President. My only hope is that his parents became citizens the right way, that way the media will not have something to hold on him.

      • I understand that perfectly and so were tens of thousands of children of non-legal, non-US stock, born here as well, does that qualify them to run for the presidency when they attain to the age of 45?

        • Right. The only thing to ask if his parents are US Born or US naturalized. I do not believe he should be disqualified because his parents are LEGAL immigrants. If they went about it the right away and gave birth to him here he should qualify without a problem. If they themselves were born here (or one of them were and the other was legal immigrant) he should be fine too in my estimation. If they were both illegal immigrants then no he shouldn't qualify even if he was born here due to the whole anchor baby issue that I am truly against.

  • neither is obozo a natural born citizen and it isn't stopping him from ruining our nation.

    • Well Rubio is eligible. However that is true that Obama's possibility of not being eligible didn't stop him from becoming President, nor did it bring questions from MSM.

  • I am confused. Are his parents American citizens (even if naturalized)? Was he born in the USA?

He is cute. He gained a bit of weight though he needs to watch it.

  • Sorry Marco-bots...HE IS NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN RE: ART.2, SECTION1, CLAUSE 5, based on Emerich De Vattel's The Law of nations, which is mentioned in said US Constitution. Same goes for Bobby Jindal.

    • "No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

Tell us EXACTLY, just what the hell are you blathering about?

    • Actually, Marco was born in the U.S. (Miami, Florida) - this makes him a natural born citizen by the very definition of the phrase. I'm actually amazed that you would get on a website and post something so obnoxiously stupid. BTW - Jindal was born in Baton Rouge, LA... and is also a natural born US citizen.
