  The issue isn't about whether public figures should be up for ridicule or not. The issue is whether a picture is grounds for making judgments about a person. If (and when) Obama says something stupid, I'd be one of the first people mocking it, because people control what they say, and it reflects who they are. A picture (unless backed by other evidence) does not.

  There's no apples and oranges flaw. Either extrapolations can be made about a person's character from a picture or they cannot. It doesn't matter who that picture is of.

There was nothing there to compare to Obama about because it is not an equal situation. You could have used another public figure of similar or equal standing as Obama to make whatever point you were trying to make. Using Mothers and linking them to sexual things was disgusting and insulting and I find it surprising that you don't understand that nor see that nor find it necessary to apologize to people about that... it tells me a lot about you.

    As far as making judgements upon someone based on a picture... there are others... but whatever lets concentrate on this one. There is a thing called body language which DOES express what someone is more than likely thinking and emoting with their bodies so in many ways it can be used as a matter of judgement upon the state of mind of the person and what the person is all about. Now in this case it shows that Michelle is enjoying the situation whereas Obama is recoiling. It is possible to make judgements and jokes UPON a public person based on that. Also CONSIDERING previous pictures AND coupling them with previous videos and statements. It may not necessarily mean that he is gay, but the possibility can be discussed. It is also a joke... you know what a joke is right? You can OF COURSE disagree but again staying Obama focused whereas insulting Mothers and posters is not good form.

    The Mother thing was UNNECESSARY... plain and simple... You could have made your point by pointing out to us a picture of Bush doing or posing in a certain way (or anyone that you dislike) without bringing Mothers and insulting posters. Your comparison failed and it was insulting and that is the final point.

      I have no use for this troll and heartily advise everyone here to stop responding to this idiot - he is, by far, the most insidious troll I have encountered here. Even Donavan does not stoop this low - he may be extremely liberal and stirs things up occasionally, but he does not revert to this kind of sophomoric, immature and childish behavior.

      P.S. The "Borg" are from StarTreck - a "collective" or "hive" if you will, who were connected intuitively to the central command - they were instructed what to do and how to behave, react, and conduct themselves from that central source - basically a "liberal".

        I agree with you. It is fun to destroy trolls, but after a while it does get boring and taxing and once trolls are not feed they go away. I realize I spent way too much of my time on this troll so I will stop feeding it as well.

    The point is that you can have points of views but you have two options to leave if it offends your sensibilities SO MUCH... OR... you can stay and pose your case WITHOUT INSULTING fellow citizens who ALSO have rights to express THEIR points of view. This is what I am talking about we have a disagreement, but once you insult (or attempt to insult) people and/or their Mothers, ALL credibility of argument from you is gone. You have not garnered respect but instead ire from people WHICH IS appropriate based on YOUR OWN DECISION to insult others (and their Mothers).     Like I said in another post, this is a blog where the blog writers can do whatever they like AFTER ALL it is a free country, with that said you can agree or disagree with their post, HOWEVER one thing the blog writers are not doing is MAKING YOU read it. So if you read it and you are offended, you are welcomed not to come back. If you go to KOS or to Media Matters (and others) you will find SIMILAR or even WORST posting, pictures of conservatives/republicans/anti-liberal people in it. I am quite sure it is quite possible that you do not find anything wrong with that. If you do great, but I am thinking not based on your stance.

    Now the point is that in the end if those other people want to do similar or worst postings about people they hate or dislike THEY CAN DO IT. I don't have to read it, I don't have to participate one way or another. If I choose to be offended, then I should be ready for people letting me know in one way or another that this or that site is not for me and that I should leave.     Do I think the picture makes a statement about his character? Hell, no. Nobody here is that shallow. You know that -- you just wish that we could show him more respect. So do we, actually. It is just that we cannot respect the unrespectable.

    I think his actions make all the statement about his character needed for me to dislike him intensely. If you are looking at him as an 'action hero', then you're on the wrong blog unless you want to either flame or be flamed.
