I caught this one on FB a few weeks before finding IHTM, a wife posted it to our troop homepage. The little girls unwrapping their daddy gets me everytime!
I remember when my husband came home from Iraq. His coming home ceremony was being hosted at a large church, the auditorium was packed. We were able to watch our soldiers, they had a live feed on the projector screens, come off the plane and they were being greeting by what must have been everyone in the airport. As they continued filing through the line of greeters I saw my husband! My heart nearly jumped out of my chest and I began crying sitting there, seeing him for the first time in almost 6 months.( He had come home for 12 days after spending 6 months overseas, our daughter was 9 days old when he left to go back) I wanted to jump into the screen and hug him and never let go! It was a very special day.

I'm so glad your husband is home, safe and sound. Thank you both for your sacrifice to your country. Our gratitude is deeply heartfelt and we wish your family many long happy years together.
Thank you Barb, my family and I appreciate all your support. It means so much to know there are so many who support our troops and their loved ones. :) It does so much for our military's moral to know they are supported.

Memorial Day has a very special meaning to me and I am getting a little article written for our local newspaper, like I do every year. I take great pride in being a veteran of our armed forces and I shake the hand of every person in uniform I see every day.
Babydoll, give your hubby a hug for me and tell him I said welcome home! If he is on deployment again tell him I expect him to be here for Veterans Day or I'll send him an electronic kick in the ass! Memorial Day is the day we remember those no longer with us. Veterans Day is the day we honor those still with us. I want to see him with us, you, in November so I can give him an electronic salute.

We do celebrate Veteran's Day by going out to dinner, usually to a place where he eats for free ;) Lol!
If ya'll ever make it to New Mexico I'll point you to several restaurants across the state that will treat the entire family to a great meal just because your husband got home safe. The day does not matter, next Saturday is a good day as any for the fine folks that run these places.

Thank you! It got to me because you DO expect humans to be excited at a loved one's return, however for an animal to be thus excited and joyful is just amazing. He IS obviously a good furry daddy to the point of being imprinted in her mind to miss him like this.
