House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) admitted something that seems obvious in retrospect – Republicans were so pissed off about the way ObamaCare was passed that they refused to budget on the debt ceiling.
But his interpretation of the budget deal varies considerably from ours.

Hoyer, speaking on CNBC, said he thought part of the reason Republicans have refused to compromise with Democrats on the debt-ceiling package was because of how House Democrats pushed through the Obama administration’s healthcare law.
“I think that’s accurate,” Hoyer said Friday. “I don’t think healthcare was handled the way it should’ve been, but let me tell you why: There was an openness to compromise, but the Republicans said, ‘Look, we don’t like your plan, we’re not going to go there at all,’” Hoyer said.
Steny, dude, far be it from us to intrude on your fantasy with a note of reality, but if there was no openness to compromise, the budget would have been slashed.

Well the Prez was thrown a life-preserver and a possible reelection ticket with this POS bill the House passed and the Senate passed and Ho Bama signed. As usual, the f***ing commies in the Repubics caved and gave the F***head-In-Chief just about everything he wanted including a golden pass to try it again for another four years. The Repubics, ie., Boehner, McCain, McConnell, and whoever else is responsible for this travesty are going to be primaried and hopefully defeated by God fearing, electorate fearing, Constitution respecting conservative Tea Party candidates. Rosen up your bows and get your loud speakers out of the closet...we're going to start going to Townhall meeting all over America and MAKE out voices heard! Union thugs and bullies aside, it's about time these Marxist f***ers got a great big dose of their own medicine!
You watched Trump last night didn't you? He makes sense and shot up several percentage points in my book.
No, I think I heard him on either Hannity, Savage, or Levin, but I liked what I heard. He's too much of a liberal for me so I would never consciously vote for him unless it was a lesser of two evils situation.
Greta interviewed him last night. Pretty straight forward stuff. Don't spend more than you take in. Stop giving away stuff if you aren't making enough to cover your own bills. Stop defending the world free of charge.
I'd like to see the defense dept. bill these ungrateful mother fkers for every bullet we expend defending their sorry butts. Bill them 500K for every American trooper that dies in their god forsaken shithole countries. Bill these countries for everything, they can certainly afford it since they have no defense budget to worry about. Make them pay up BEFORE we pack up and go home.
The liberals, back when it was Bush's war, always claimed that Iraq was a war for oil. Of course, now that it's Obama's war, they don't say that any more. But when they did, I always asked, so where's the oil?
Here's a compromise: you can raise taxes back to Clinton-era levels if we go back to Clinton-era budget levels. (and no ObamaCare.) Deal, Democrats? Didn't think so.
I can't believe it took someone this long to bring that point up.
That big sh1t-eatin grin on his ugly mug is just begging for a bunch of five.
Yup. There are several puke face dog spoor that get a mugshot on IHTM but this puke face and bill maher have a certain thing going on that just inspires that in some of us.
bill mahr has an excuse for being the way he is, he's (LMFAO!!) an entertainer.
That looks more like a grimace rather than a smile; maybe his hemorrhoids are flaring up.
Upon closer inspection it is plain to see that his hemorrhoids have flared right out of his shirt collar!
Progressives demand compromise and civility when they're out of power, whine when they don't get it, and forget what the words mean when they're back in power. It's up to us to make sure they continue to whine.
No compromise on the debt ceiling meant not raising it. Period. Not one dime. Not even having a meeting to "cut a deal". Tell Obama to go fly a kite when he "ordered" congressional leaders to the White House for a meeting. Force the federal government to live within existing revenues RIGHT NOW.
There is enough revenue to pay the interest on the existing debt, and all the big programs that these politicians have made people dependent upon (SS, medicare), as well as keeping the military funded. All this talk about "default" was a bunch of Bravo Sierra.
Yes, it would have been painful for some. Many who are employed in the federal bureaucracy would have been affected. Deciding on which federal agencies get the axe. Right now. But It would have been better to endure some pain now than having to deal with a lot more pain later. The laws of economics cannot be repealed. Not even by a supermajority in the US congress. They just postponed the inevitable.
I'd say the Repubs compromised with the Cut Cap & Balance...but then they just caved, collaborated, aided and abetted by passing whatever "supercongress deal" we ended up with.
He's still in denial of the big picture. AMERICA is pissed off about how the healthcare bill was handled. The Republican party is merely the cock that WE THE PEOPLE are wagging in their faces ( yes Madam Pelosi, I'm wagging my cock in your face, you hot little bitch). ;)
Alrighty then. O.o
you hot little bitch

Hehe, yeah, just like that. The correct word was haughty, not hot!!!
Can i say that here?
You just did.
Steny, screw you and your revisionist history. You owned both houses of congress and the presidency for over a year. The gasbag in chief announced to the world "I Won!" (Translation: we don't need no stinkin' compromise, assholes.) You crumbs wrote the damn bill and didn't read it. Eff you. You passed it, you own it, and all the economic destruction that went with it. It's all yours. Choke on it.
I still remember when they walked to the Capitol to have the vote on obamacare, Pelosi with gavel in hand and the plastic smile on her botox-laden face, walking right by all the people outside who were protesting.
The arrogance and contempt they showed throughout the entire "debate", closed door meetings, not even considering any ideas other than their own, even after the nationwide revolt at townhall meetings in the Summer of 2009 in opposition to obamacare, "We need to pass the bill so we can find out what's in it", and then all the celebration and applause when they got the 218th vote in the House, bought the 60th vote in the Senate (Ben Nelson is up for reelection in 2012 btw), and then the "big f***ing deal" when the Teleprompter signed it.
Whaddaya think Steny? Ya think that might have probably pissed some people off? Maybe just a little?
[shhhh. I think Buck's holding something back. Let's get him to say how he really feels]
Well, Steny, something ending with the phrase "...and the horse you rode in on" comes to mind when I think of you and Congress.
Compromise like free speech and tolerance is a one way street for Liberals/communists.regressives.
