“Enjoy the Ride” is a commercial produced by the Western Australia Office of Road Safety.
They abandoned the typical threatening and frightening approaches and tried to show drivers that there’s a better way to look at driving and life.
Don’t get us wrong. We’re pretty sure everyone completely ignored this commercial and continued driving like maniacs, but we still like the way they turned the problem upside down and inside out and came at it from a whole new direction.

Perfect! I am breathing right now!
Nice commercial, but they forget one thing. IT'S AUSTRALIA. Half the flora and fauna is busy trying to kill and eat the other half. People need to speed in order for them to get to the coast to get off natures "was in a bad mood day she created oz". So, to all survivors hop in the car, roll up the windows and head for safety. We'll take you in and in no time those nasty accents will be all gone.
:)
I think this video has a place airing in the MSM!
I didn't take it so much as an anti-speeding commercial as a general health concern commercial. "You're making yourself sick by being in such a hurry, now chill out before you become a burden on our health care system!"
Still, it was well made without being preachy. It leaves the decisions in the hands of the individual but makes a decent proposal for why it might benefit you to slow down.
For some reason though I'm now craving shrimp on a barbie.
Nice commercial. Too bad speed itself doesn't cause accidents, as has been proven with decades of data if anyone cares to look. Reminds me of the old days when people warned of blood in the streets for raising the U.S. highway limit above 55mph -- like it was before the 70s gas shortage and when we had much crappier cars.
One main thing I got out of the video is that since "speeders are filled with anxiety over being ticketed by cops," etc, then what we need to do to make people calmer, safer drivers is to raise speed limits so cops will stop ticketing people who are otherwise-safe drivers.
Okay that was rather long. I am sure they could have made the same point in a minute and a half. Overall they make great points and they are right on everything they said. People do need to slow down on all aspects of our lives especially those that can lead to an accident if in a hurry.
KQ, my friend, if it's any consolation, I repeatedly breathed in deeply while reading your post slowly :o)
Rueben you are aware that your chosen avitar is an avowed communist who was personally responsible for thousands of deaths right?
Rick, that blue ring ain't a halo, it's gun sights and that blood ain't tricklin' from a runaway blemish, it's a bullet hole. Note, also, the closed eye lids.
The only good Che Guevara is a dead Che Guevara!
Rick: Look a little more closely at Ruben's avatar.
Good for you!
I didn't get the point, I had to fast forward through the last half of it 'cus I need to get to work, and I think I missed something.
Well no wonder they have a problem. The problem isn't speeding, the goofy bastards are driving on the wrong side of the road!
touche Bruce
hang on, isn't Bruce a given name very commonly found in Oz?
i reckon you should leave the comedy to Obama
Actually I liked it. No nanny state. No YOU are evil for speeding. No global warning tripe. Just a novel approach to an age old problem.
