We are all Diamondbacks now

We are all Arizona Diamondbacks now

Oh, how the libs are howling about Arizona’s new illegal alien law.

They want to boycott the state. They want to boycott the Arizona Diamondbacks baseball team because its owners support the law. They want Major League Baseball to pull its All-Star Game from Phoenix this summer.

That’s why we say we are all Diamondbacks now.

Visit the official Diamondbacks store. Buy a Diamondback cap or jersey or mug.

Show your support for the state. Show your support for the team. Show your support for the law. Show your support for America.

  • That really is a shame that they are wanting to pull the game and everything from the state just because of some law that not all of the people in the state are supporting. I think they are trying to do that pull too quick, and just aren't thinking things through. Really is a shame. I hope that they change their minds

  • While I agree with most of the points in Matthew h Harrison's response to the silly, poorly written rant above, I would like to point out that the right-left paradigm is a trap. One only need look at the financial policies of the last several administrations to see that while social issues ebb and flow, taxes, on the surface seem to rise and fall, the nation is heading in one direction only: a downward spiral away from freedom putting all of the people's labor into the pockets of the banking elite. Those who feel Obama has any people's interest in mind are deluded, same same Bush. Soveriegnty needs to be protected, at least at this point, but at the same time the inflamed racial tensions that are arising now are a product of a controlled media designed to create divisions among the working stiffs of all nations, meanwhile the Chases, Morgans, Rothschilds, Rockerfellers of the world will continue to profit no matter what, constantly funding both sides of every conflict. Please don't fall prey to the false left-right paradigm. It is a control mechanism. Avoid all party lines. Think for your self, and dig deep.

  • Benito,
Your contention is dead wrong. This law is simply a mirror of federal law.
It is a state's attempt to address an issue that the federal government is responsible for but refuses to do.
As an immigrant, I have been required to carry ID and produce it on demand
by federal statute- this has been the law for 50 years or more. Because you sneak in, build a life, have kids, does not all of a sudden negate the requirements that the soveriegn nation has in place to control immigration across its borders. Go try that crap in Mexico if you are from any other southern country. And take your damn mexican flag with you! this is America, love it or leave it.
BTW, Johnson was a huge failure, his great society has stolen trillions of$$ from producers and created a welfare class that has destroyed the black and brown and white families. Never mind the failure of his foreign policy in Vietnam.

  • Illegal aliens are free. They are free to come into the country undocumented and thus breaking our laws and they are free to go back to their country if they are being mistreated or are victims of discrimination in this country.

If I am not treated well somewhere be it a hotel for example and I am a PAYING customer, I did not make a mess, I was not noisy nor interfered with the freedom of movement (and other rights) of other hotel dwellers I do have the right to complain with the hotel management. I can demand to be better treated and even ask for my money back or get reinstituted something because of the troubles that the hotel caused me while I stayed there. I also have the right to leave that place and make sure that everyone I know (and beyond) knows that place treated me badly. If I want to take it further I can sue the hotel. However if I want to stay in the hotel and I am still willing to pay the price to stay there, I have all the rights to demand that the hotel changes hands to someone who knows how to treat its customers well and demand that the hotel treats me with the respect that I deserve as a paying customer.

If I stayed at the hotel for free (without invitation) and/or made a mess and/or made it hard for other hotel dwellers to enjoy the hotel, etc. If the hotel treats me badly it is probably because I am not a paying customer and/or did things that were against the hotel policies, therefore I don't really have much right to complain here after all I am not living up to my end of the circumstance that I willingly put myself into. However REGARDLESS of what is going on, even under these circumstances I am STILL free to leave the hotel that treated me badly even though I wasn't paying the hotel (and/or did other things).

I don't have to stay in a place that treats me badly. If I am a paying customer (and/or I am behaving correctly) I have all the rights behind me and with me to make sure the hotel does what is right by me. I have the rights to ask for positive changes and I even have the right to leave. If I am not a paying customer (and/or I am not behaving correctly), then I got no rights to complain nor EXPECT anything good from the hotel. I have no rights to expect changes that should make my stay easier or better HOWEVER I do still have the right to leave.

  • I hope that every American, regardless of where he lives, will stop and examine his conscience about this and other related incidents. This Nation was founded by men of many nations and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and that the rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened. All of us ought to have the right to be treated as he would wish to be treated, as one would wish his children to be treated, but this is not the case.

I know the proponents of this law say that the majority approves of this law, but the majority is not always right. Would women or non-whites have the vote if we listen to the majority of the day, would the non-whites have equal rights (and equal access to churches, restaurants, hotels, retail stores, schools, colleges and yes water fountains) if we listen to the majority of the day? We all know the answer, a resounding, NO!

Today we are committed to a worldwide struggle to promote and protect the rights of all who wish to be free. In a time of domestic crisis men of good will and generosity should be able to unite regardless of party or politics and do what is right, not what is just popular with the majority. Some men comprehend discrimination by never have experiencing it in their lives, but the majority will only understand after it happens to them.

    • Benito,
this is not a conscience issue. This is a law and order issue. When immigrants enter illegally and work under the radar or off the books, they are then easy prey for exploitation.
I am myself an immigrant, I want to assimilate and have. I embrace america while keeping the important aspects of my heritage alive.
The Arizona law is a mirror of current federal law. By federal law, I'm required to keep ID on me at all times.
Let me make this clear, AS A LEGAL IMMIGRANT AND A FUTURE CITIZEN, I AM OFFENDED BY THOSE WHO ENTER ILLEGALLY AND OVERBURDEN OUR SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS BECAUSE THEIR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN IS A SHITHOLE RUN BY WHITE DESCENDENTS OF THE SPANISH WHO DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ASS ABOUT THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE AND SEEK TO EXPORT THEIR ECONOMIC PROBLEMS TO MY NEW HOMELAND. Mexico is a rich country that has been exploited by the ruling class and there needs to be fundamental reform there, not in America. Never mind the open civil war going on between the government and drug cartels. this is not a worldwide struggle, but a struggle to re-assert America's right to self determination and control of who enters our country, just as every other sovereign nation has. If you want to live here, come through the legal channels, that's all anyone has been asking, soon to be demanding that the big porous sieve that is the southern border be closed so that the violence does not spill over and that CITIZENS can live in safety and peace. Go protest in Mexico City and see how far you get, the mexican government treats illegals into its borders like so much trash.

      • “All Men are created equal”! The founders had it right, when attempting to form a perfect union and they also knew that they were not there yet but knew we one day would get there. Lincoln moved us forward as did JFK and LBJ. This Nation was founded by men of many nations and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and that the rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened.

It is my contention that this AZ law is not constitutional and will fail when challenged (unless they add more amendments), pretty funny for this so called perfect law.

        • Yes all men (and women) are created equal. yes the creation of this country was for the purpose of creating a more perfect union. UNION is the word here. EQUALITY is the word here.

There is no union when people come into the country and do not assimilate nor adapt the country's laws, regulations, holidays, language etc. When a person comes into this country and does not want to consider themselves an american first there is no union and that causes rifts. It is that person's fault of bad stuff happens to him or her or if they feel "unequal".

True equality is based on the premise that the person has obeyed the laws of the country which include coming here legally paying taxes and working so as to not burden the other citizens of the state and country. The NORMAL people are the ones that obey the law the abnormal people are the ones that disobey it. The abnormal people have no right to call for equality when they are not obeying the laws WHICH would make them equal in the first place.

The law is the same as the federal law the only difference is that the feds did not enforce and Arizona is.

        • Hey Benito, yet another liberal that will not answer my direct questions to you. You know where they are on the other thread.

But for your convenience, here it is again:

"I’m curious. Since you don’t believe in borders or citizenship laws, what would the cap be for people would be able to go around any waiting list and just come on over to live in the U.S.? Don’t answer me with question, or with some answer about equality. I want a number. 500,000 a year? One million a year? Ten million? Unlimited?

Oh, and please explain how you arrived at that number."

The last lefty who didn't answer my question got banned. Just sayin...

        • Have you read the AZ law? Have you compared it to the U.S. law? You should add that the rights of every man are diminished when law breakers do not get justice. It is still against the law to enter this country without permission.

Yes it is a crime to be an illegal alien.

  • Deb, Really? It is their chance to come to the Land of Opportunity. It's their dream to play in the states. And as far as the Valdez spill, get your facts straight, it's fully recovered in Prince William Sound, with record fish harvests. really, don't you have a polar bear to save from drowning???
    Fruitcake.
And Montana, don't sully the name of our great state with your wacko, lefty rant, you douche.
Right on Matt, couldn't have said it better.

    • Untrue. The Prince William sound has never recovered and probably never will. have you been there lately? I have. It truly is an ecological disaster. I am a marine biologist.......But, I still do believe we can continue to drill for oil off our coast as long as there are more safety measures. We are oil dependent, and until we can find an alternative that will be viable for all of us, we still need to drill to keep the prices down. Oil is a commodity that sells on the commodities exchange. The less dependent we are from oil, the less we help finance terrorist countries. But we are many years away from that. Probably 10 to 15 years away.

  • Maybe MLB would not be so paranoid about opening their camps in Arizona if they were more willing to pay Americans to play ball, instead of importing poor, ignorant boys from places like the Dominican Republic. The immigrants are getting taken, and don't know it. The Visa/green card system is completely bypassed to let these guys in the country. They have no concept of what their pay really is, because at home they have nothing. Sooooooo They will do anything asked of them, never complain, and if they don't make it, are flushed right back without a thought.

    • I am sure if there is a white person who is better than a Latin ball player, he will receive his due and play major league baseball. And there are a lot of good American and Canadian baseball players. But your racist and bigoted comments make me puke. America is the best because they hire the best. Whether it is a chemist from Germany to doctors from India. It doesn't matter what race or part of the world your from. What matters is that you paid and entered the country legally like everyone else. Furthermore, these Spanish ballplayers put fans in the seats which then creates jobs, taxes and revenue to the city or town in which they live in. And if the ballplayers are being taken and are being used then flushed out of baseball, that is their own problem. what do you care? As long as their here in America legally is all that matters. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Besides it's nice to see the Latino ballplayers who have talent through hard work becoming multi-millionaires, while poor white trash like you, will always live in a trailer park. Say hello to the drug addict who lives next to your trailer home for us. Peace.

      • I agree with your comments 100% If they are here legally they know what is what.. They are not being taken advantage of. There is no way they are out there playing ball and not here legally. Importing good people to do the work is not a bad thing, it is the matter of making sure they are here legally and that they are abiding the laws of the land.

  • Matt - We're in Auckland & LOVE it... NZ is not perfect and tad too gung ho UN, but the climate is wonderful, people are very nice and there are even some conservative voices here, too, fyi... Its small enough where the people press their government reps for accountability (now there is a concept, eh?)... Our latest big fight: stopping an ETS tax plan coming 1-July which will make NZ-ers pay about $3000 more annual cost of living (in energy and petrol tax). ACT party is fighting this ...
