When Harry met Barry: No wonder these guys want “Don’t ask, don’t tell.”

Have you ever seen The Tao of Steve? Apparently Harry Reid has. The film’s protagonist lives by a strict set of rules that enhance his potential for sexual conquests.

The first rule is “Women can smell an agenda.” In other words, by pretending you’re not buying what they’re selling, they’re yours. For example, maybe you could disagree with something they say.

Hmm. Politico reports:

Obama irked Reid when for the second time he used Las Vegas to highlight poor economic decisions, saying, “You don’t blow a bunch of cash in Vegas when you’re trying to save for college.” Reid fired back, telling Obama to “lay off Las Vegas.”

The second rule is to do something great, “thus demonstrating your…worthiness.”

At times Obama questioned Reid’s approach, but he ultimately trusted that he knew his caucus better than the president did. And Reid ultimately got the job done, passing a health care bill in a dramatic Christmas Eve vote hours before Obama jetted off to Hawaii with his family for the holidays.

And the third rule is “play hard to get.” So it’s not surprising that we would find Obama

…blindsided last week by Reid’s decision to abort a bipartisan jobs bill…

So just how effective is the message of “The Tao of Steve?” According to Politico:

Obama and Reid plan to cling to each other through the storm.

The two politicians will be by each other’s side at three events in less than 24 hours.

Cling all you want, gentlemen. It’s a don’t-ask-don’t-tell-world and in the immortal words of Sgt Shultz, we zee nozhing.
