Are America’s youth suffering buyer’s remorse yet? They gave Obama their votes en masse and he’s given those youth unemployment en masse.
New stats from the Bureau of Labor Statistics tell the grim tale:
“The unemployment rate for young Americans has exploded to 52.2 percent — a post-World War II high, according to the Labor Dept. — meaning millions of Americans are staring at the likelihood that their lifetime earning potential will be diminished and, combined with the predicted slow economic recovery, their transition into productive members of society could be put on hold for an extended period of time.”
“The number represents the flip-side to the Labor Dept.’s report that the employment rate of 16-to-24 year olds has eroded to 46.6 percent — the lowest ratio of working young Americans in that age group, including all but those in the military, since WWII.”
Not to worry, because The Greatest President In History has this all figured out.
He’ll give half of them college scholarships and pay the other half to enlist in the Obama Youth Brigade.
Problem solved. Let’s play golf.

Why are all of you blaming illegal immagrants? I'm 17 and the only people im upset with are 50+ baby boomers who ruined the economy, send my friends to die in the midlle east, who stay in the workforce for so long there is no work for me, and besides, illegals take menial labor jobs, as immigrants have always filled, the jobs that are disapearing are minimum wage jobs that the youth usually fill, but are being kicked out by baby boomers who are still paying minimum balance om theyre credit cards and struggling to figure out why they have no money, and then they complain that the current youths are lazy, we cant be hard working if theres no work for us to do.

Yeah the jobs are menial. But they used to pay -- and they used to not suck, because they paid. Now they don't pay -- and the people that hire the illegals expect society to pay the extra costs (health care, etc.) that they aren't. The illegals won't complain -- they won't unionize -- they live in fear of getting deported, and so they are taken advantage of left and right. This problem is one that costs young people in particular.
This article is spot on. Right now over half our youth is unemployed, but it is also important to consider the jobless rate for this demographic in 1989 when it was at its highest point ever, almost 73%. The leader during this time was a great second term president, Ronald Reagan.

16-24 year olds?! I hope that they would be concentrating more on SCHOOL and EDUCATION than working. Could this number be high because their parents are providing a financially stable upbringing and therefore, they don't HAVE to work? I actually wish that number was higher, wouldn't that mean that the unemployed 25-30 crowd would get their jobs? Now, I agree with the illegal immigrant topic that someone else raised above me, but let's get these kids educated and interested in forming a better society that we can all appreciate!
The situation is reaching a boiling point in this country, civility will be lost soon. Pelosi is running the country, her agenda is being pushed through her son Barack .. period.

Broken stats are broken. My money suggests that these numbers also include young people in higher education. Which pretty much means these numbers don't mean shit.
Not all young people are lazy. I feel that a lot of young people especially in inner cities do work or want to work. These types of situations can make people especially if they are young do stupid (and illegal) things. I have to wonder if we are seeing more petty crimes in the past year and half....?

Do you live in an area/state that votes overwelmingly democrat? Who know, places that tax the crap out of you, & the people you work for, forcing them to pack up & flee the area, Like Detroit? Michigan? Or someplace like that? That has more to do with it then voting McCain, that's my guess.
ahhhh yes, but that would mean he would be going against the leftist congress who are planning to give blanket immunity to all illegals-and are even starting to demand that be tied to the "health care" bill. he doesn't need to create 8 million jobs, when he can buy 20 million votes!

BTW, I would like to see legislation to make it illegal for people on the dole to vote. If you are an able bodied person, & you are not working & paying taxes, you really should'nt vote. You will have an interest to vote yourself more benefits by electing people who pimp welfare up the wazzu. Working poor who get assitance in some forms would not be affected if you can really prove you are working regularly. A bit of food assitance or help with the heating bill is one thing, but welfare as a lifestyle needs to end. Also, Multi generational welfare families are not what we had in mind when we decided to help our poor. ACORN sees these people as their bread & butter.
