America’s top ten local talk show hosts: #6 – Mandy Connell/Louisville

Mandy Connell
84 WHAS/Louisville
Monday-Friday 9-noon EDT

We continue our Top 10 Countdown with #6 today We resume with #5 on Monday.

We asked Mandy to describe her show and she said, “My show is a snarky commentary on politics with healthy doses of Real Housewives of Anywhere updates. My strongest suit is drawing parallels between two seemingly unconnected things to drive a point home in a unique way. I’m conservative, but a lot of liberal progressives listen to the show, which I take as a compliment … I’m nice to people in the business because you never know when someone who used to be an intern will wind up program director at the station you are dying to work for. Well, I’m nice in general, but especially because of that.”

If we were you, Mandy, we’d start being very nice to Robin Bertolucci, the programming genius at KFI/Los Angeles. She’s a very important person.

Here’s Mandy taking a whack at people who take smoke breaks at work:

  • Mandy is a has good talent but I think she needs to work on being more personable. she is no Francence.

  • Her show should come with a Government Warning: Listening may become addictive. Sneaks up on you - and WHAM. Limbaugh's awesome. But given a choice, I now prefer to get my daily ration of current events and commentary from this very bright gal with the infectious laugh and a devilish streak 6 inches wide.

  • I live in Danville, Kentucky and listen to Mandy Connell just about every day. I like her but she's not my favorite talk-show host. I listen to her on AM 840 while I'm waiting for the Dr. of Democracy to hit the airwaves.
