Solyndra for Dummies: the whole story in five cartoon panels. So easy a president can understand it. “Very stimulating.” – Crony Capitalist Magazine.

Woman bit by rat while waiting for NYC subway
A hungry rat chomped on a straphanger’s foot as she waited for a train in a NYC subway station, transit sources said. Well, Mayor Bloomers is too busy hunting down the real danger to public health – excess dietary transfats – to worry about minor threats like rats. The NY Daily News, a very liberal newspaper, went out of its way to emphasize that rat attacks in the subway are “rare”. Bet that made the victim feel better.
Citizen Ticketed For Directing Traffic After Traffic Light Fails In South Pasadena
After a traffic light failed causing a mile-long backup, a citizen stepped in to direct traffic and received a ticket for his trouble. Wasn’t there an old song that went “It is better to ticket one little candle than to let it stop drivers from cursing the darkness?” BTW, this is a good one: “South Pasadena Police Chief Joe Payne said he did not have the man power needed to staff officers at Fair Oaks and Huntington Thursday and that is safer to allow traffic to back up.” In other news, a new synonym for “moron” has been found.
Krauthammer: Obama is no Harry Truman
“Barack Obama is no Harry Truman,” Krauthammer said. “It’s not that complicated. Obama is in over his head.” From where we sit, he’s no Jimmy Carter, either. Maybe Merton Melnick…. Who’s Merton Melnick? Exactly.
Al Gore wants to borrow your Facebook and Twitter accounts
Help Al Gore create spam storm by lending him your Facebook and/or Twitter accounts! Seriously, it’s for the children the Climate Reality project! The real climate crisis is how to get it thru these nitwits’ thick heads that we’re not buying their crap so they just shut up and go away. Al can tweet until he’s green in the face but we won’t be taking him seriously until he sells his oceanfront mansion and moves to the top of a mountain.
Remembering 9/11: Astronaut’s picture from space
Astronaut Frank Culbertson snapped a photo of smoke streaming from the WTC wreckage on 9/11/2001.“I didn’t know exactly what was happening, but I knew it was really bad because there was a big cloud of debris covering Manhattan,” Culbertson said in a new video released by NASA for the 10th anniversary of the attacks. “That’s when it really became painful because it was like seeing a wound in the side of your country, of your family, your friends.” A larger image plus more pics at the link.
White House spams reporters’ inboxes after Obama’s jobs speech
White House spams reporters’ inboxes after Obama’s jobs speech“The White House really wants you to know that the $447 billion jobs plan that President Obama outlined in a speech to a joint session of Congress Thursday night has support–that is, from unions, liberal groups and other Democrats.” Unprecedented, a broad base of public support, sounds like everyone from the liberal to the very liberal is behind it. That’s everyone, ain’t it?
We’re living in Utopia!
Star Trek took place 350 years in the future. Imagine what 2011 America would look like to people living 1658! Utopia! Today’s “underpriviledged” American lives better than any king did in 1658. So why isn’t this “utopia”? “Let’s face it, our evolutionarily programmed drive to dominate and control other human beings will always drive us to invent new problems as a pretext for dominating others.” Utopia will never be achieved because it’s really just a pretext for control-freaks to obtain power.
NY Times discovers Sarah Palin not as dumb as the NY Times thought
After 3 years, NY Times discovers Sarah Palin is an anti-establishment populist. “She made three interlocking points. 1) the United States is now governed by a “permanent political class,” drawn from both parties, that is increasingly cut off from the concerns of regular people. 2) these Republicans and Democrats have allied with big business to mutual advantage to create what she called “corporate crony capitalism.” 3) the real political divide in the United States may no longer be between friends and foes of Big Government, but between friends and foes of vast, remote, unaccountable institutions (both public and private).” Exactly.
YUM Brands Trying to Mooch off the Food Stamp Program
Should food stamp recipients be able to buy taxpayer-financed meals at fast food restaurants? One restaurant company thinks so.When gubbermints start givin’ out free stuff, all sorts of people get in line. Many may think it’s a bad idea but see others getting free stuff at their expense so they join the line. Soon everybody’s on line, and that’s when the whole mess implodes.
Trumka’s 9/11 msg: extremist small government posse is the new enemy
Trumka: The “unity” of 9/11/2001 all gone thanks to the “small governement posse” and the Koch Brothers The 10-yr anniversary of a national tragedy is a good time to rehash all the Democrat talking points in one convenient, easy-to-carry little rant. This guy would have you believe the Tea Party is Karl Rove, The Koch Bros. and a few paid trolls and 90% of the Americans still working rely on his union to ensure those great bennies he won for them keep coming. What happens when his meds wear off?
DCCC Said To Be “Panicking” About Possible Weprin Loss
Bad press and close polls have Nancy Pelosi fretting about a Weprin loss in NY-9.Weprin sounds like a weak candidate but this is one of those districts the Dems can run a dead dog in and win. Then again, a dead dog is probably a better candidate than Weprin. Regardless, we’ll believe he’s a loser when and if we see it on election night.
EPA using taxpayer money to encourage environmentalist groups to sue … the EPA.
The EPA believes it exists to serve leftist environmental groups, not the public. The EPA bureaucrats subvert the will of the people to impose their own desires through judicial mandates they engineered. Obama’s same old new “jobs” plan is unneeded, just defunding the economy-killing racket known as the EPA will improve things in a hurry, and save a bunch of money to boot.
Chuck Schumer: Why can we be like we were after 9/11/2001?
Schumer: We didn’t exploit the tragedy to renew debates about the size or role of government. We confronted challenges first — and considered the politics later. Chucky longs for the the halcyon days of 2001 when we didn’t waste good crises, we just went out and spent money like there was no debt ceiling. But now, thanks to those damn Tea Party racists, voters are demanding folks like Schumer actually count how much money they’re flushing and fret about how many overpaid “assistants to the chief administrator’s assistant” are larding up government payrolls. Sorry if gubbermint’s no fun anymore pal, but your way of “confronting challenges” has created a much bigger challenge: the gargantuan bill for your miserable stewardship is coming due.
“Detroit represents the greatest failure of this president.”
As America’s first black president, Obama had a unique opportunity to tackle the inner city’s chronic crime by personally connecting with people to transform a family culture of dependency. This high-profile family man could have taught by example the importance of family and security. Instead, Obama’s orgy of welfare spending has only exacerbated Detroit’s problems – further dooming a generation of black children to violence. Teaching by example? That’s blaming the victim. Besides, if there’s no checks being written, there’s no way to reward your cronies, is there?
Social security is NOT a Ponzi scheme (it’s worse)
Three reasons Rick Perry is wrong about Social Security being a Ponzi scheme. Here’s one: participation in Ponzi schemes is voluntary. Not so with Social Security. If Charles Ponzi were alive today, he might call his cons “non-compulsory government schemes.” Then again, if Ponzi were alive today he’d be a national Democrat and get praised for his schemes instead of prosecuted. Friedman was right about SS not being a Ponzi scheme, but he’s still an idiot.
First 2012 Presidential debate questions revealed
A devious blogger has obtained the list of questions the media will be asking at the first 2012 presidential debate. A sample: To President Obama: Who is your favorite Beatle? To Republican: Why don’t you go jump off a bridge? A big one.? Unexpectedly, the Republican candidate’s answers will be disrupted by a guy with a mustache making farting noises off stage. Pity, that.
Reuters: New Jobless Claims Increase Unexpectedly
The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits rose unexpectedly last week, further evidence of a weak labor market just hours before President Barack Obama unveils a plan on job creation in a major address to Congress. The word “unexpectedly” returns unexpectedly just hours before President Barack Obama unveils a plan on job creation that is not expected to do crap. What the world really wants to know is if the sun also rises “unexpectedly” in Reuters’ worldview.
Why Truman can’t save Obama
Obama fancies 2012 being a rerun of Truman’s 1948 comeback but there are important differnces: for instance, Truman didn’t force a health care plan the public hated down their throats. Sure, Obama may have fancied himself as Lincoln, FDR, Reagan and now Truman, but the reality on the ground keeps pointing to Carter. As Yogi Berra might say, it could be deja-lose all over again.
Sen. McCain calls for ‘Fast and Furious’ hearing
Sen. John McCain is asking for the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee to call the U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder; the Homeland Security Secretary, Janet Napolitano; and the ATF’s acting director, B. Todd Jones as witnesses in a hearing on Operation “Fast and Furious.” Tom Coburn (R-OK), Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Rand Paul (R-KY) are on this committee so it could get interesting.
Reuters whines: U.S. safer 10 years after 9/11, but at what cost?
Ten years after the September 11 attacks of 2001, the United States has altered the balance between freedom and security, turning an open and casual society into an ever-vigilant one. But at what cost in lost liberty and dollars? We don’t care for it either, but if the leftist multicultural cultists didn’t insist we let every no-luggage-carrying bozo with a sob story from countries that hate us in here, we might not need all this security. If you don’t stop them at the border, then you better stop them in the streets and airports.
Hoffa questions patriotism of Apple Inc.
Jimmy Hoffa on CNN: “I think businesses are sitting on money. Look at Apple. They have $76 billion in their checking account. And they’re not spending it.” Yeah, Apple’s capital ain’t for them to allocate according to the needs of their business, it’s for making Jimmy Hoffa and Barack Obama happy! Hoffa goes on to whine that Honda (a Japanese multi-national) has an obligation to build plants in the US instead of Mexico. In Hoffa’s mind, apparently everyone’s duty is to serve him and his political allies.
Wisconsin ObamaCare Backers’ report finds the plan bends cost curve UP
Whoops! ObamaCare Backers in Wisconsin Produce Report Showing That the Health Care Overhaul Will Make Health Insurance More Expensive. There’s only one thing to do: make writing reports about ObamaCare illegal.
NBC picks Packers over Obama in Milwaukee
The NBC affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, WTMJ TV announced yesterday they will not be airing Obama’s jobs speech at 7 PM EST Thursday night. Instead they are opting for their own pre-game coverage of the Packers Saints game scheduled to kick off at 8 PM. Milwaukee discoveres one can indeed get too much of a useless thing. Obama will need to start scheduling his speeches against the 3 AM Super Juicer infomercials if he wants to get an audience. No guarantee there either, those Super Juicers are pretty cool.
Why not more stimuli?
Why Krugman and the Keynesians are wrong: The problem isn’t as simple as low aggregate demand. The core problem is that the economy needs a microeconomic reset, where supply (production) and demand (consumer) are brought back together through an undistorted and smoothly functioning price system. That means the government has to back off, not become more active. Well, the stimulative crack hasn’t worked in Japan. But hey, two centuries of failure proved nothing to these fools, why should two decades make a difference?
