Bill Press is an idiot, says talking about God is inappropriate at a “sacred” spot

If it weren’t Bill Press, we would say this quote is so mind-numbingly stupid that it couldn’t possibly be accurate. Well, that and the fact that it’s been memorialized on video.

Yes, while discussing Glenn Beck’s Washington, DC rally, the former head of the California Democratic Party and current unsuccessful talk show host actually said that it’s inappropriate to talk about God in a sacred spot.

Somebody want to get Press a dictionary so he can look up the meaning of the word “sacred”?

  • I think he is right, that if you bash someone 5 days a week, you cannot stand up on another day of the week and pretend to be civil. That is just fake. Plus, what I got from the context was that he objected to the use of the Lincoln Memorial as a platform site for a religious/political "camp meeting". I personally don't think the site was meant for that either.

    • Perhaps the site wasn't meant for that, but it has been used for that BEFORE that is the point, if it is okay back then and it is then considered sacred ground, why can't it be okay for Glenn to do it?

      Now as far as the five days a week barb, this was not about Obama per se, this was about the country. In fact people prayed for Obama and his administration during the event or right before the event ended. It is possible to say that this event was actually not necessarily an extension of his shows, it was something altogether different because the concentration was on the people not on the administration. It wasn't an anti Obama rally at all.

    Because I notice how the Dums all run to the churches around election time to give speeches....but without worrying about that pesky Separation of Church and State...

    Did anyone else notice that Obama looked like he had a stick up his backside during that speech tonight? And that he seemed to leave his "black preacher" accent at home? I guess that is what Big Dummy Harry Reid meant when he said he could speak without the "negro dialect" when needed.

    • Yes, the word "God" is indeed in the "I Have a Dream" speech several times. Dr. King said that he dreamed of a day when "all God's children" would gather together and say "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

      So, I suppose that if he is consistent in his views, Mr. Press would have found Dr. King's speech inappropriate as well.

  • I may be showing my age here, but I remember when Bill Press had a show on KFI radio in Los Angeles. He was an idiot then, too. I used to listen to him and Rush every day, and that is about the time my political beliefs were molded and given definition. I heard both sides of the story, and I accepted one, and rejected one.
