Delusions of adequacy: Eleanor Clift and Bill Press say, “U.S. auto industry stronger than it ever was”

Eleanor Clift and Bill Press actually claimed on PBS’ McLaughlin Group that the United States auto industry has never been stronger. No. Seriously.

There’s the intellectual equivalent of an arms race going on in the land of liberal television. Except the competitors seem to be racing to see who can say the dumbest thing possible.

MSNBC’s Ed Schultz got out to a big early lead, but Newsweek’s Eleanor Clift is coming on strong and liberal radio host Bill Press is keeping pace.

On Friday, for example, Clift and Press actually claimed on PBS’ McLaughlin Group that the United States auto industry has never been stronger.

No. Seriously. That’s what they said. We realize you doubt that anyone could be that delusional and still maintain a regular gig on network television, but we herewith submit the following transcript and video clip as proof.

Good lord, what morons.

Press: Then there was the auto bailout. Our auto industry is stronger than it ever was today. It was a George Bush program continued by Barack Obama. If he had not continued those two programs, we’d be in the toilet still today.

McLaughlin: (dumbfounded) You say the auto industry is stronger than it ever has been?

Press: Yes, it is.

Clift: Yes, it is.

Buchanan: No, it is not.

Crowley: No.

Press: GM reported its first profits, John.

McLaughlin: I know that. I know that.

Clift: Well, General Motors now has a nice fat share of the market in China. They have recovered, excuse me, and millions of jobs have been saved.

Why stop with millions, Eleanor. As long as your fantasizing, why not make it billions of jobs? Maybe even trillions of jobs.

The only question is, how do you keep yours?

Lib talk show host Bill Press says “Palin’s crosshairs means pick out your gun and go after them”

Here’s failed talk show host Bill Press on Sarah Palin’s little crosshair images and how they caused the downfall of America as we know it.

With all the choices they offer us it’s difficult to select the worst of the liberal talk show hosts.

Olbermann and Schultz, of course, get nominated day in and day out. And every once in a while liberal lunatic Mike Malloy says something remarkably horrifying. But always in the running is former head of the California Democrat Party Bill Press, who is also rumored to have a radio talk show. (It’s only rumored because no one can be found who has actually heard the show.)

Schultz: Bill Cunningham, radio talk show host out of Ohio, who’s a severe righty, is saying that he is going to be broadcasting from The Tan Man’s–John Boehner’s–office on Election Night.

Press: Well, first of all, I checked. It is legal in the House for members can allow broadcasters to broadcast from their offices, I’m sorry, I’m sorry to say … But I’ve got to tell you, Ed, so it’s legal to be there, but if I were Bill Cunningham I’d stay home. Because once the results come in, it’s going to be like a morgue in Boehner’s office. You and I, you and I ought to broadcast, Ed, you and I ought to broadcast from Nancy Pelosi’s balcony. That’s where the party’s going to be.

Just picture Bill Press liquored up on some taxpayer-purchased booze stolen from Pelosi’s personal government airplane, a few deflated balloons and a whole lot of deflated egos.

Bill Press is an idiot, says talking about God is inappropriate at a “sacred” spot

Yes, while discussing Glenn Beck’s Washington, DC rally, the former head of the California Democratic Party and current unsuccessful talk show host, Bill Press, actually said that it’s inappropriate to talk about God in a sacred spot.

If it weren’t Bill Press, we would say this quote is so mind-numbingly stupid that it couldn’t possibly be accurate. Well, that and the fact that it’s been memorialized on video.

Press: I think this says more about the American people than it does about President Obama. I think it just shows once again that the American people are spoiled. Basically, spoiled– as a people, we are too critical. We are quick to rush to judgment, we are too negative, we are too impatient. Especially impatient. We want it all solved yesterday, and if you don’t, I don’t care who you are — get out of the way. And again, basically spoiled. To the point where it makes me wonder if it’s even possible to govern today. I gotta tell you, I don’t think Abraham Lincoln — who certainly didn’t get everything right the first time — could govern today. I’m not sure Franklin Roosevelt could govern today, the way we are again. Just about like spoiled children. And it’s Americans, and it’s the media, and if we don’t get instant gratification, then screw you is basically our attitude.

Press is right. Americans are too damn spoiled to know what’s good for themselves. That’s why it’s good that socialists like Press and Obama are willing to make those decisions for them.

Another Democrat senator wants the Fairness Doctrine back

Bill Press’ floundering radio show seems to be the place where Democrat senators go to say stupid things. Last week is was Senator Debbie Stabenow who wanted the Fairness Doctrine. This week it’s Senator Tom Harkin.

“…They are just shutting down progressive talk from one city after another,” Press said. “All we want is, you know, some balance on the airwaves, that’s all. You know, we’re not going to take any of the conservative voices off the airwaves, but just make sure that there are a few progressives and liberals out there, right?

“That’s why we need the Fairness Doctrine back,” Harkin responded.

We hereby propose the Congressional Fairness Doctrine. Here’s how it works. Each state gets two senators. If a state elects one stupid senator, an additional intelligent one would have to be appointed to serve simultaneously.

Only problem is New York, Massachusetts, and California would end up with four senators each.

Liberal talk radio dies in DC today

The air seems a little cleaner in the nation’s capitol today. Lib talk radio is dead in the District of Columbia.

WWRC-AM had marketed itself as “Obama 1260,” proving that the FCC doesn’t consider stupidity to be sufficient grounds for revocation of a broadcast license. The station has now flipped to a business talk/news format.

Losing affiliates is nothing new for Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz, Bill Press, Ron Reagan, Rachel Maddow and Lionel. But the loss of the Washington, DC market is a particularly harsh blow for liberal talk radio, because the format is rapidly running out off major markets in which it can be dumped.

Miller, often referred to as the rising star of libtalk, has lost market after market and now retains affiliates in just 11 of the top 50 markets. Like many lib talk stations, WWRC ranked dead last in the Washington, DC ratings, 30th out of 30 stations.

As of today, Miller, Schultz, Press, Reagan, Maddow and Lionel are on the street, where they will presumably organize protests and carry picket signs calling for the re-introduction of the Fairness Doctrine.
