Outrageous! California students sent home for wearing American flag T-shirts on Cinco de Mayo

Black is white. Up is down. In is out. Patriotism is un-American.

NBC Bay Area has the details of this insane story:

On any other day at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Daniel Galli and his four friends would not even be noticed for wearing T-shirts with the American flag. But Cinco de Mayo is not any typical day especially on a campus with a large Mexican American student population.

Galli says he and his friends were sitting at a table during brunch break when the vice principal asked two of the boys to remove American flag bandannas that they wearing on their heads and for the others to turn their American flag T-shirts inside out. When they refused, the boys were ordered to go to the principal’s office.

“They said we could wear it on any other day,” Daniel Galli said, “but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it’s supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today.”

The boys said the administrators called their T-shirts “incendiary” that would lead to fights on campus.

So that’s where we are in 2010. Displaying the American flag in the United States on a foreign holiday is now a bad thing.

Political correctness run amok.

  • Request for proper consideration and Respect;....Do NOT celebrate "Cinco-de Mayo"
I am asking both individuals and corporation / company/ Media, and Public Entities to finally do "The Right Thing" and do Not celebrate, or participate in a fake and manufactured "holiday". Furthermore this so-called Mexican (1862), celebration shows a Great Disrespect to those 200 Americans of 26 years earlier (then Cinco-de-Mayo), that were Murdered by Mexico under General Santa Anna....... Let me explain;....
In 1836 at a Missionary compound, that we all may know as "The Alamo", in a land called the Republic of Texas, 200 Americans stood alone protecting the rights of Texas to become a state in the young America of that time period. Mexico didn't want that and sent over 1500 troops to destroy this compound and squash this (American) dream! Unfortunately they did overrun this compound and killed all,......even those who wished to surrender!!! Mexico then piled all the Americans' bodies into piles and burned them beyond recognition. This Desecration violated ALL principles of warfare and rules of Honor-in-Battle. This performance of violating Human Rights angered Americans all over the existing America, that the cry of......"Remember the Alamo", rang through-out the land and Americans joined together to repel Mexico out of Texas, and years later Texas became the 28th state of these United States.
......Now this so-called "cinco" Holiday ( in 1862), that everyone celebrates is really nothing but a war skirmish that Mexico had with the French, and Yes they did repel the French Troops on May 5th, of 1862, but a few weeks later the French returned and conquered Mexico,....so what is there to celebrate, even for Mexicans?? The fact is that even Mexico doesn't celebrate this so-called day, as a National "holiday", because it means little to Mexicans, so why does America embrace this meaningless day to America, and at the same time, ignore our past Heroes who died at the hand of Mexico? Why are we doing a disservice to our fellow Americans, who died protecting this country, and why are we spending more time with a "Fake' day called "Cinco-de-Mayo", then actually respecting those who Died at the Alamo???. Why would any American want to "Raise-a-Glass" to celebrate with those who desecrated American bodies?? ........WHY do we now??? Is Mexico more important to our History then our own American history???........Are we ashamed of being American?
Please STOP this Dishonor to Americans and our History, and show Respect for those who died creating this country, and not those who showed Disrespect to this country.....stop This FAKE day called Cinco-de-mayo, and................."REMEMBER THE ALAMO". ...........I Thank You

  • Tess,
While you go on about how great the welfare states of Europe are, please remember this: If it were not for the american and canadian military presence
(mostly american) the social welfare state that you rave about would not be possible. Being able to mooch off the americans for your security has allowed you slacker Euro-types to cut defence spending in order to create the huge welfare state. Guess what, the bill is coming due and it's starting in Greece.
So, good luck with that! Never mind the hordes of muslims that you have encouraged to move to your great social paradises to fill the jobs the fat lazy Euro trash won't do, hell, you're even too lazy to make babies to replace yourselves. So you can have Euroarabia and the wonderful nanny state.
Don't let the door hit you or your mexican trash buddies in the ass on the way out!

  • tess, you sound like you must be french, were you or your parents collaborators like most of the population?

    • They probably were... Tess parlez vous Francais? Oui? Est-ce qu'on doit parler Allemagne en France? Non? De Rien!

(Tess do you speak French? Yes? Do you HAVE to speak German in France? No? You are welcome!)

      • I'm going to help you two out, a little bit, regarding dear tess:

        https://www.ihatethemedia.com/conservative-bumper-stickers

"...let me tell you that I’m also 50% white and 25% black and 25% muslim. I’m Catholic and a Humanitarian. I support Peta, Unicef and Greenpeace."

Check out the link and you'll see her going back and forth with administrator--chastising him for his spelling while committing plenty of her own errors.

Oh--and after reading that snippet of her describing herself do you really need to hear more? LOL!

  • Gee, how very insensitive of those "retarded red neck kids" ( sounds like RACIST HATE-SPEECH to me) to choose not to participate in a MEXICAN holiday. Did they violate any requirement in the school curricula or school rules MANDATING the wearing of specific apparel? Was there any LEGAL requirement for the students to observe this particular FOREIGN holiday? Where can I find it in print and publically published?

I checked several various printings of AMERICAN calendars and I didn't find "Cinco de Mayo" included as a US holiday, but only included as a small-letter footnote marked ( Mexico ), the same as October 11 was marked "Thanksgiving Day ( Canada )". I've never noticed us celebrating CANADIAN Thanksgiving day on Oct 11 in the US. Well shucks, guess it must not be an AMERICAN holiday.

If the oh so patriotic MEXICAN students feel that their MEXICAN holiday is so important THEY are quite FREE to observe it appropriately. ( Usually celebrated with lots of cerveza and tequila as a show of solidarity by US college students ) They are NOT FREE however to criticise those who do NOT wish to participate, or who express a lawful contrary attitude, nor are they free to DEMAND others observe it.

First Amendment rights, baby, FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND EXPRESSION !! Civil rights laws apply equally to ALL LEGAL citizens. Deal with it.

  • Hey barajas you stupid fat grease ball, American kids can wear an American shirt any day they want to because this is America, if you think mexico is a paradise why not go back there you piece of sht. Fks like you love to use the word racist a lot while in the next breath calling anyone else names.

  • All you mayonase spreading racists are A-Holes and Ill tell you why ... those red neck kids knew damn well it was cinco de mayo that day, then why even wear the US flag on you if you know it is like taunting all the Mexicans at that school. I dont know if the principal is white but his name sounds like he is, but i do know he was scared of all the mexican parents that would show up if he didnt do anything about these retarded kids. Might as well show up to school with the confederate flag wrapped around you.

    • Actually, idiot, it was the assistant principal Miguel Rodriguez that made it into an issue. Not exactly a "white person's" name.

And who gives a crap about cinco de mayo anyways? Most Mexicans I know don't even consider it a holiday.

Maybe it's just for those of you that are racist and need a reason to spread your brand of hatred.

  • So what they won a battle but their victory didn't last long, the French came back a year later and kicked their butts. They should be thankful to us that we came to their aid to win the 3rd battle with the French. They have some nerve to spit in our faces like that. We were there fighting side by side with the Mexican army to defeat the French. The comment from the girl; "“We could have ignored it, but the fact that they did it to us last year — see that is disrespect toward us,” she said of the students. “And they want to do it again and plan it out, they plan it out. They think it’s funny. It hurts us. We are just as equal as they are.”

Where is the disrespect? We helped Mexico win! We have every right to display our flag as well and to be recognized.

    • No one remembers the US when we help other countries win their wars. Yes so the students were cheeky in doing it. However it is the country USA, it is not Mexico so they should be able to wear the flag on any day. That little girl doesn't get it. She is able to celebrate it ad nauseum not just EXPECT everyone else to do so or to embrace it like she does WHILE she celebrates it IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY.

      • Well ... the US doesnt remember who helped them in their American Revolution either so don't judge. America wouldn't have excisted if the French didn't help America in the Revolution. America was too busy planning to rip off land from Indians, French, and Mexicans.

        • Excuse me?! The US DOES remember who helped the US during the American Revolution. Museums, history classes and books, documents on display and monuments are displayed that showcase the cooperation received from France (amongst others) on the Revolution. So please stop talking out of your ass. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Also America would have so well existed without the French help. It may have taken longer but there would have been success. With that said even though French help was helpful in the end, France wouldn't be France without America's help twice in two major wars and that is without considering tourism as well as the fact that US (especially Texas) saved France's wine industry.

          • I'm not so sure about existing without the French, for the British would have strengthened their hold on their colonies after a failed revolution. Granted, they (the Brits) would have evenutually failed, but I believe we'd be a monarchy then but I digress...
Anyway, we do acknowledge that the French (and somewhat the Spainards) helped us. What country is tess from?

          • The French weren't the only helping the US. A lot of European countries hated England primarily for their naval control. They would have been happy to see England fail. They were Swedes if I am not mistaken who also participated. It could have been another nordic country. A lot of individuals from many different European countries either came here to fight alongside the Americans or they sent funds. In any case, it is not BECAUSE of the French solely that US won it is because the US wanted to win and right was on their side. It would have taken perhaps longer but it would have happened. Overall I am not dismissing the French contribution, however it is not as if we haven't paid it back (several times). It seems she is from Portugal.

          • Couldn't have said it better, KQ. My eyes popped wide open, at the absurdity of his statement...

        • Thumbs up, Josh! Why did The USA join world war second? Economic reasons, chérie- . And they gained a lot with that! For further information, feel free to ask me!This question is for Kimmy. It looks like she knows nothing about her country! Besides, no country is completely evil, nor completely good. I do not believe in the altruism of any country whatsoever...there is always something behind the curtain!
Oh, The statue of Liberty was offered by France, and the Declaration of Human Rights on which your Constitution is based, was drafted and written by The French!

          • I actually know more about this country than you Tess. If you are a US born person that is saying a lot and if you aren't and you live here legally you should be ashamed of yourself for this country has done a lot for you and you take it without being thankful (and the same goes if you are born here) and if you jumped the fence you shouldn't be opening your mouth. If you are not even living here, you have no idea what this country is about if you only go by the news of the MSM of your country which I am sure is extremely biased and ignorant. you are obviously a reflection of that.

You are also an ASS for assuming that I don't know that no country is completely evil nor good. No kidding! Really?! Duh! What an idiotic and unnecessary thing to say.

You do know that the person that took us into WWII was a Democrat right?!!! You did know that right since you know soooo much! And also I am sure you KNOW because you are so smart that the major reason for going into WWII was a little thing called PEARL HARBOR...? Yes I am sure you knew that Tess since you are so smart and stuff.

The statue of Liberty was a gift from the French yes and your point is? US gave blood and time to them, recognition like that is no problem. However French arrogance is such that they seem to forget it a lot.

The Declaration of Human Rights ???! Whatever...

          • Hey, cut her some slack KQ. I'm quite impressed with the 3rd grade level of knowledge she's exhibiting... And she even through a french (intentionally not capitalized, for the curious) word in there to put an exclamation point on her feeble attempt to display arrogance.

Oh--and the tard has made it a point, in other posts, that she doesn't live in America.

          • This is the first time I read her crap so I wasn't sure about her living here or not, thanks.

If anything it is the Magna Carta (England) that inspired a lot of Revolutionary documentation.

I really want to know what planet this people live...

  • I saw on O'Reilly there was a debate at the school over this issue. I don't know if you have the videos. In any case I didnt see the whole thing but every person from the Mexican side that came to talk were the actual kids not adults nor parents (like it was in the case of the other side). I had to wonder, how come most (if not all) were speaking on the Mexican side of things were the students/kids? Where were their parents? I had to wonder do their parents speak English or else are they (in some numbers) here illegally and wouldn't dare go to the school to speak in behalf of their children? or are they mostly one parent homes and couldn't take the time to go?

One of these insolent children actually said that the school board were stupid and ignorant. What I dont understand is that if it is true that she and the others value their American sides, why would they get so offended over US citizens wearing US flags on US soil? Would they be okay if US citizens wore US flags on Mexican soil (no matter what day it was eg July 4th)? If they would be ok with that then why get mad? Cinco de Mayo is not a US holiday. It is an international heritage day that they had the right to celebrate in their own way, they had no reason to pay attention to what others were doing. I feel that this was just an excuse to get mad and stupid.

  • I grew up next to the Canadian border, most of the families where I am from are French Speaking/Canadian, yet in our schools we did not celebrate Canadian holidays, we were not taught french in elementary school, we didnt learn all about Canadian culture. We learned that at home, but it remained very seperate from our school system. Canada is less than 1/2 mile from that shool.
All this is the overly liberal, democratic state of Vermont. And yet there were no issues. Why, oh, because this is AMERICA. The latino community needs to calm the F down over everyone being so "polictical correct" to them. First off, if your living in the country because you want a better life, be f&*ing proud to be in this country. Our troops do not die for this country to protect whinny freeloading pos!!
Dont like somewhere wearing the AMERICAN FLAG?? Go back to where you came from and tell everyone how much of a whinny b*&ch you were in the US and couldnt handle it!
