• What the hell does this say about the country?

  With 4.575M total viewers in the 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. hour, the reading of the Casey Anthony verdict propelled HLN to its best ratings ever. HLN peaked shortly after the verdict was read with 5.205M total viewers.

  Every trailer park in America was watching HLN?

• A Pornstar is born.

  • Yup, I was just thinking her next stop will be Playboy. Maybe she can get a new tramp stamp to commemorate her 3 year stay at the Crossbar Hotel.

    • I wouldn't be surprised if Playboy does ask her to pose. Or the other one with that guy in a wheelchair? Someone is going to ask her to do something pornographic. We live in a sad world.

• Hey guys, did you hear about the verdict!?!?!? Why no coverage?....its a HUGE DEAL!

  • Because we couldn't care less about it.

• The chloroform and neckbreaking Internet searches. The chloroform all over her car. Multiple people talking about a stench of death coming from her car. The tow lot guy had experience with about half a dozen dead bodies in cars and he said that's what her car smelled like. Though I don't know if I fully trust George Anthony, his experience had him knowing a dead body when he smelled one. The sniffer dogs smelling Caley's body all over their back yard. If I'm on that jury she's gonna due time for at least one of the three top charges. Otherwise, we'd have a mistrial, because I'm not budging.

  • There was a lot of circumstancial evidence. I think that they made the wrong assumptions about the jury. The jury probably expected clinchers like a witness or a confession. However the prosecution never proved how Caley died nor did they link Casey directly to her death. They probably think she could have done something, but they weren't sure because of the lack of concrete evidence linking the Mother to her daughter's death.

    I can only hope that this woman does not go around making money out of this. I hope she has the decency to just dissappear. How can she go home to her parents after all that she put them through?

    Also her Mother could be arrested for perjury on the stand. it is a mess...

• Is abortion now legal in Florida up to 3 years after a child's birth?

• My jaw dropped when they read the verdicts. I'd have bet money such a fast verdict was not a good omen for her. Boy was I wrong.

• What really boggles me is that no one can find anyone else to even CONSIDER prosecuting, except for the grandfather who has been pretty much ruled out as a suspect. Will they keep pursuing the murderer and bring justice to the little girl who's life was brought to an end by some cruel act? No matter what the defense lawyers say, the case WAS ruled as a homicide, not an accident. The jury seems to have forgotten that the body was found with duct tape, last time I checked, no one "accidentally" goes swimming with duct tape... but that is beside the point.

  I feel terribly that she got away without any charge for murder. Although when looking around on the internet I found that the defense did quite a crappy job, although I am still a full-on believer that she is guilty. What saddens me is that if new evidence is found she cannot be retried. This really brings me down quite a few notches, even more than I was earlier when I saw that she was acquitted. Although I do enjoy the fact that she is still a felon, SUCCESSFULLY charged with check fraud, obstruction of justice, and a few other things if I'm not mistaken.

  The only bright side I can find in this is that one day justice will be served in the court of God (if that's not your belief that's fine, but it is mine). Also that Casey Anthony will be faced with a life of heart ache. No one will ever forget Caylee Anthony (may she rest in peace), and I guarantee that Casey Anthony will be forced to remember her every day for the rest of her life.

• Unreal that she got off on the murder rap, but then OJ did too.
  I haven't watched much of it these past 3 years, only because sweet little Caylee is the spitting image of my daughter at the same age...

  I believe she did it and unless they find some new evidence to charge her with a different crime, she won't be tried again. That being said, if she gets out of prison in one piece, the eyes of the law will forever be upon her. They will get her sooner or later for SOMETHING...just like OJ.

• I have been living, a term used in the loosest sense, about 100 miles away from where this all happened for a few years. The news has included something about the little girls disappearance and death practically every day. Avoiding the disruption of the news wasn't too hard, but it seemed pretty clear going in that the prosecution had no hard, tangible evidence. The defense used every scumbag trick in the scumbag book. We are all pretty sure that she did it based on her lying. Her lies are the only thing the people have been able to substantiate. She'll 'write' a book after doing her yawn for felonious fibbing.

  • Yes the prosecution did not do a good job. They assumed (like I did) that everyone and their Mother knew that she did it, and the only true questions was to give her death or not. They didn't even seem to have done much in proving child abuse nor that she could have accidently killed her through neglect or abuse. They fumbled it. Their assumption caused what I believe for justice to be served. That and in addition as you so well said of the defense attorney's scumbag moves (that he never truly substantiated either as I heard in the reports) made them do what they did. The fact that they (the jury) didnt come to the podium either to state as to the reasons for their decisions is very telling as well. Well I hope that this ends soon. I saw that whole situation and changed it when they started repeating themselves.

    • You are exactly right. The prosecution underestimated the ability of the jury to hear the truth and to know that they had NO HARD EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER to prove her case. The prosecutors were so sure it was a slam dunk that they forgot to PROVE their case. They really thought that a jury that would have to live with killing Casey Anthony would ignore the fact that they couldn't even prove Caylee was murdered. If they had been able to prove that it WASN'T an accident they would have gotten a conviction. They badly overreached and missed because they thought the jury would ignore the facts and convict on emotion. They showed great courage as this was a very tough case. The prosecution claimed things that weren't provable--they said that there was duct tape covering her mouth and nose ignoring the fact that the remains HAD NO MOUTH OR NOSE and there wasn't one scintilla of DNA on the tape. The prosecutors thought the jury would ignore the fact that they had no E-V-I-D-E-N-C-E and that's an insult to the jury and to the Constitution. That wasn't the case and the jury showed them that proof beyond a reasonable doubt is still the standard in the United States of America.

      • That is a good point. Emotionally to me she is guilty. Logically to me she is guilty, but in the eyes of the law without emotion and through stringent laws she is not. Logically to me she is guilty of something... even if it just simple neglect, however they couldnt even prove THAT. They (the prosecution) overreached they could have gone for manslaughter and prove that not only through neglect or abuse the child died. They made too many assumptions and did not follow the rule of law. This is why I still believe in the jury system, however I just dont think that justice for the little girl was served.

    • And what makes it so much worse is that she can't even be retried if new evidence comes up due to Double Jeopardy.

      • There are ways around double jeopardy. You can still charge her for the murder of her daughter, just not under any of her previous charges. Perhaps if they didn't try to throw 5 types of murder at her and hope 1 stuck, the DA would be in a far better position.

        • They would have fared better had they not done this as a capital offense.

• Wow.... NOT GUILTY for all important counts. Just guilty for lying. She could go free in a few days or in a couple of years depending on what the judge does on Thursday. This woman disgusts me, but the system did what the system did. I do believe in the judicial system of this country BY FAR the best in the world. However, she is now free and giggling her way out of court, yet her child is still dead and dumped like garbage. I do believe that the girl did not receive human justice today, but she will receive divine justice at some point. Divine justice trumps human justice, and all I can say right now is that she needs to live right from this point on. All I hope is that Casey is bowing down and praying to the right Deity and be thankful that she is free and that she lives right and purposefully from now on and hopefully never bring another child into the world again. If she wants to go out and live her life and have fun do whatever she needs to do, but make sure that she doesn't hurt anyone else.
