James Murdoch Resigns From News Corp. Board, Citing “Disagreements” Over Editorial Content. They must have gotten tired of him trying to turn Fox into MSNBC. Maybe they can dump Juan Williams, Geraldo, Judge Nap, and Donna Brazile now.

Embattled union honchos’ lavish spending exposed: Villas, four-figure dinners, $60,000 cigar bill

Embattled union honchos’ lavish spending exposed: Villas, four-figure dinners, $60,000 cigar bill. Remember this next time you pay your union dues. It’s a racket.

A December 2015 Gary’s Sales invoice issued to ‘UAW c/o [UAW Official A]’ for a $13,046.91 purchase that included an order for 12 boxes of Ashton Double Magnum cigars at $268.00 per box (totaling $3,216) and 12 boxes of Ashton Monarch Tubos cigars at $274.50 a box (totaling $3,294),” was among the purchases listed in court documents. The documents listed another $13,000 purchase invoiced to Pearson from the same store the following year, part of an alleged $60,000 on cigar- and tobacco-related purchases between 2014 and 2018.

The Times detailed how a “master account” was billed for over-the-top dinners, including one at LG’s Prime Steakhouse that ran over $6,500.

James Comey: ‘I was wrong’

James Comey: ‘I was wrong.’ Mr. Smug issues his mea culpa. Perhaps he should substitute ‘criminal’ for ‘wrong.’

After previously saying the FBI was vindicated by the Justice Department inspector general’s findings on the origins of the Russia investigation, former FBI Director James Comey said Sunday that he was “overconfident” in defending the FBI’s use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act in the investigation.

Fox News Host Bill O’Reilly Loses Custody of Both Children Amid Allegations of Abuse

Fox News Host Bill O’Reilly Loses Custody of Both Children Amid Allegations of Abuse. We quit watching O’Reilly on Fox a long time ago when he turned into the head bloviator. Based upon the link it looks like he’s turned into more than that at home.

Kossacks elated at Murdoch woes and a “world without Fox News”

Vyan at Daily Kos is getting giddy in a post headlined “Could we soon see a world without Fox News?”

There used to be a saying. “If you can’t beat them join them and change them from within.” While the President appears to be utilizing that tactic from the White House, the Kos Kooks are looking to employ a rather different technique in their plan for media monopoly.

That tactic can be summed up thusly: If you can’t beat them, hope they go to jail, or at least out of business.

angry-dog
Daily Kos readers are angry, yipping little creatures

Newsbusters busts a moves all over this story:

Vyan at Daily Kos is getting giddy in a post headlined “Could we soon see a world without Fox News?” It’s apparently all over for FNC: “In less than a week the News of the World Wiretapping and Bribery Scandal has quickly metastasized into a Multi-Headed Dragon of Death for Murdoch Empire and simply lopping off one head, doesn’t seem to be enough – the infection has already spread.”

Now that Fox-hating liberal interest groups, bloggers, and Democrat politicians are vowing to investigate, the Kosmonauts think Murdoch’s “criminal enterprise” is about to collapse…

Of course we all understand the left’s hatred of Fox. It’s hard to control the people when you no longer control all of the people’s information. But maybe this could be a good thing, because Fox has been getting a bit RINO over the years. Perhaps its time for them to be replaced by a truly conservative news network.

Say it ain’t so O: Emails show White House has anti-Fox bias

We are shocked – shocked, we tell you – to find out that the White House has an anti-Fox News bias.

We must admit a bit of discombobulation this morning. Just as Captain Renault was shocked (shocked) to find out there was gambling at Rick’s Cafe Americain we are shocked – shocked, we tell you – to find out that the White House has an anti-Fox News bias.

white-house-sunset
Sure as the sun sets in the west, the White House fears Fox News

Fox reports, we deride:

Internal Obama administration emails obtained by Judicial Watch provide evidence that FNC was specifically singled out for exclusion. According to one October 22, 2009, email exchange between Dag Vega, Director of Broadcast Media on the White House staff, to Jenni LeCompte, then-Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs in the Treasury Department, Vega informs LeCompte that “…we’d prefer if you skip Fox please.”

Regarding general anti-FNC bias within the Obama White House in an October 23, 2009, email exchange between Jennifer Psaki, Deputy White House Communications Director and LeCompte, Psaki writes, “I am putting some dead fish in the fox cubby – just cause.” In an email on the night of October 22, 2009, commenting on a report by Fox News Channel anchor Bret Baier noting the exclusion of the network from the pool, Psaki writes to Compte and fellow White House colleagues, “…brett baier just did a stupid piece on it — but he is a lunatic.”

Guess we now know why Obama never funneled any TARP funds to Fox’s parent company and even expected them to pay their taxes last year.

Lawrence O’Donnell demonstrates the left’s version of “fair and balanced”

Which cable news network is truly fair and balanced – Fox or MSNBC – was proven once again when the story was President Obama’s invitation to rapper Common for the White House Poetry Night.

Which cable news network is truly fair and balanced – Fox or MSNBC – was proven once again last Wednesday night (in other words, it was just like every other night of the week). The day’s top story was President Obama’s invitation to rapper Common to participate in Poetry Night at the White House.

On Fox, O’Reilly brought on not one but two liberal radio talk show hosts to present the leftist point of view. MSNBC’s Larry “The Cable News Guy” O’Donnell brought on one liberal to parrot his talking points.

Might this be why the latest ratings reveal The Factor more than triples The Last Word’s number of viewers?

While attacking Republicans for speaking out against the invitation, O’Donnell singled out the line, “Tell the law my Uzi weighs a ton” as the reason for the Republican’s objection.

Larry purposely, conveniently omitted what Republicans made very clear as their objection: lyrics about burning President Bush, and defending cop killer Joanne Chesimard.

The straw man that O’Donnell and his guest offered as substitute? Racism. Being MSNBC, would you expect anything else?

Shamelessly substituting lies for truth with phony righteous indignation: Larry O’Donnell – a proud graduate of the Edward R. Olbermann School of Yellow Journalism.

Obama administration boycotts Fox News, but admits it has “a great relationship” with Al-Jazeera

The Obama administration, which refuses to allow any of its representatives to appear on Fox News, proudly boasts that it has “a great relationship” with the anti-American Al-Jazeera television network.

Figures. The Obama administration, which refuses to allow any of its representatives to appear on Fox News, proudly boasts that it has “a great relationship” with the anti-American Al-Jazeera television network.

emir-qatar-obama
"Excellent," the Emir of Qatar thought. "He said it just the way I told him to."

Politicom.com has the defining story:

Seven years after then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld called the broadcaster’s reporting “vicious, inaccurate and inexcusable” and President George W. Bush joked about bombing it, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton praised it as “real news” in her recent Senate testimony.

Not only that, her staffers, as well as those of the CIA and the Obama White House, were attending the Congressional Correspondents’ Dinner as Al-Jazeera’s guests.

“They are a really important media entity, and we have a really great relationship with them,” said Dana Shell Smith, the State Department’s deputy assistant secretary for international media engagement, who speaks Arabic and has frequently appeared on the channel. “This administration has empowered those of us who actually do the communicating to be in a close relationship with Al-Jazeera. They understand that the relationship can’t consist of complaining to each other about the differences we have.”

… “The emir of Qatar come by the Oval Office today, and he owns Al-Jazeera basically,” Obama said in remarks recorded by CBS News’s Mark Knoller. “Pretty influential guy. He is a big booster, big promoter of democracy all throughout the Middle East. Reform, reform, reform. You’re seeing it on Al-Jazeera.”

Re-write that last paragraph thusly:

“Rupert Murdoch came by the Oval Office today and he owns Fox News basically,” Obama said. “Pretty influential guy. He’s a big booster, big promoter of democracy all throughout America. Reform, reform, reform. You’re seeing it all on Fox.”

We feel confident in saying that’s not going to happen anytime soon. The target of the reform rarely endorses the reformer.

News Flash: Hot Fox News chick goes on air wearing skirt that covers her knees

We are sad to report that Heather Nauert appeared on Fox News’ America’s Newsroom on Thursday morning wearing a skirt that actually covered her knees.

We’re not saying it merely grazed her knees nor that it reached her knees. No, at the :18 mark of this video clip, it covered them like Katie Couric covers a Republican sex scandal.

This, of course, is in direct violation of Fox News’ strict dress code. We anticipate that Nauert’s blatant disregard for the high standards in short skirts that we’ve come to expect from Fox News hot news chicks will be dealt with harshly by the network’s programming executives.

Did those bastards at Fox News lie by showing palm trees in a story about violent Wisconsin protests?

The leftwing blogosphere is atwitter about the fact that those bastards at Fox News lied by trying to pass off a violent protest in California as a violent protest in Madison, Wisconsin.

The leftwing blogosphere is atwitter about the fact that those bastards at Fox News lied by trying to pass off a violent protest in California as a violent protest in Madison, Wisconsin. IHateTheMedia.com even picked up a new troll who made repeated references to “the Fox News palm tree lie.”

Here’s the video clip that started the whole brouhaha:

And here’s the description that accompanied that clip at YouTube:

Fox News is at it again! Here’s a clip form tonights O’Rielly show with reporter Mike Tobin. They are still lying and deceiving people! You’ve gotta see this. They spliced in a clip from some place else to make it seem as though there was a rowdy crowd in Madison Wisconsin. Look closely for the palm trees in the background (I have yet to see a palm tree in Madison). UNBELIEVABLE!! FOX NEWS LIES AGAIN!

So did Fox lie? Based on that clip, it sure look like it. Ahhh, but not so fast. Mediaite took a look at the whole story and reached a different conclusion.

While, in the 43-second clip that’s being linked to on YouTube, it does look like Fox News lied, but watching the entire segment for context makes it clear that they did not.

The segment in question occurred during The O’Reilly Factor as Bill O’Reilly was discussing the anger in the union protests. At the top of the piece, he rolled footage of a number of the “union thug” videos that have become so popular on Right Wing news sites in the past few weeks. O’Reilly clearly identified the videos as collectively coming from “all over the country.” … this B-roll footage was replayed again during the rest of the segment, including during an interview with Mike Tobin, Fox News’ reporter who’s been on the ground in Wisconsin.

Here’s the unedited video:

Obviously, someone’s lying here. But it doesn’t appear to be Fox News.

Great Moments In Wisconsin Protest History: Socialists enter, stage left, just as union thug denies socialist involvement

A Faux News reporter interviewing a Wisconsin union thug who mocks Fox News and Glenn Beck for reporting the crazy – absolutely crazy – story that socialists, communist and other leftist thugs are all involved in the Madison protests.

What cut ups. What cards. What wacky, crazy guys. This clip shows the hilarious juxtaposition of a Faux News reporter interviewing a Wisconsin union thug who mocks Fox News and Glenn Beck for reporting the crazy – absolutely crazy – story that socialists, communist and other leftist thugs are all involved in the Madison protests.

Unfortunately, his argument loses some impact when a band of socialists march by.

Moronic Media Matters claims Wisconsin protests and Tea Party protests are the same thing

In what amounts to an amazing display of left wing lunacy even by Media Matters standards, the Soros-backed scandal sheet has attacked Fox News yet again.

In what amounts to an amazing display of left wing lunacy even by Media Matters standards, the Soros-backed scandal sheet has attacked Fox News yet again.

What has the evil Fox done now? According to Media Matters, “Fox News’ coverage of the Wisconsin protests over Gov. Scott Walker’s proposal to eliminate public employees’ collective bargaining rights, among other things, has been marked with repeated attacks on the protesters. However, by contrast, Fox has relentlessly promoted and even encouraged viewers to participate in tea party and “Tax Day” protests over the past few years.”

As much as we hate to admit it, Media Matters may have a point. The two events are exactly alike if you overlook the fact that the Tea Party was a grassroots movement that was entirely lawful, while the strike in Wisconsin is an illegal strike by teachers, or the fact that “doctors” wrote phony sick notes for the Wisconsin teachers which were not really necessary for the Tea Party members as once again THEY WERE NOT ACTING ILLEGALLY!

The liberal left, who consider themselves to be intellectual giants, seems to have a hard time with the word “illegal” as in “illegal strike” or “illegal immigrant.”

Speaking of hypocrisy however, why doesn’t Media Matters show some of the signs from Wisconsin portraying the Governor as Hitler and showing him in crosshairs? Wasn’t that the same “violent rhetoric” that the left was condemning mere weeks ago?

On second thought, Media Matters doesn’t have a point after all.

Party time at Fox: Conservative network had more total viewers in 2010 than MSNBC, CNN and HLN combined

Fox News’ total viewers for the year exceeded MSNBC, HLN, and CNN combined. That dominance came primarily at the expense of CNN which lost 29% of its total viewership.

A little decorum is in order, Mr. Murdoch. Please refrain from dancing on your competitors’ graves while the cameras are rolling.

A special message for CNN, MSNBC and HLN

BusinessInsider.com has details of the decimation:

The ratings are out for 2010.

Perhaps not surprisingly Fox News continued its march of dominance through the cablesphere, clocking its second-highest rated year ever in total viewers.

It was also the only news channel to hit the top 10 in cable networks, ranking fourth in Primetime behind USA, ESPN and TNT.

Want some context for that? Fox News’ total viewers for the year exceeded MSNBC, HLN, and CNN combined.

That dominance came primarily at the expense of CNN which lost 29% of its total viewership in 2010 and 34% of its prime time viewers. Yes, you read that right.

MSNBC, meanwhile stayed the course in total day total viewers – it was the only news channel not to drop in that category — but dropped 5% year over year in prime time total viewers and 9% in the prime time demo.

At MSNBC, Keith Olbermann is reportedly figuring out how to staunch the loss of viewers by consulting with the ghost of James Thurber. At CNN, Anderson Cooper knows he’s doomed because he’s starting 2011 by teaming up again with Kathy Griffin to host the annual New Year’s Eve broadcast. And on HLN … well, we really don’t know what’s going on there because like the rest of the American people, we don’t even know what channel they’re on.

Shock of the week: Time defends Fox News

Media Matters is at it again. They tried yet again to drum up a faux Fox News controversy and this one fell so flat that even Time Magazine leapt to the conservative cable news network’s defense.

megyn-kelly-fox-news
Megyn Kelly really has nothing to do with this story, but we like looking at pictures of her

An internal Fox memo told its anchors to stop using the phrase “public option” when discussing ObamaCare and to begin using the phrase “government option.” Media Matters got its hands on that memo and was shocked – shocked, we tell you – by that supposedly blatant manipulation of the truth.

Hard as this may be to believe, Time magazine – liberal Time magazine – offered up this defense of Fox:

Here’s what Kurtz and Media Matters fail to note: Most Americans did not understand what the “public option” was. The term, in fact, seemed almost intentionally non-descriptive. Scores of journalists asked me during the health care debate to explain to them what the public option was – and these were folks interested in the news and paying attention to the issue.

The public option would have been a government-run insurance plan some Americans could have purchased. It would have been supported by premiums with no government subsidization and would be been purely voluntary. Like Medicare, the reimbursements paid by the public option would have been set by the government. Also like Medicare, the plan would not have needed to turn a profit, making it cost less than private insurance. It would have therefore provided tough competition for private insurers and pushed down premiums throughout the marketplace.

There’s a reason they call themselves Media Matters and not Truth Matters.

When you have an irrational hatred for Sarah Palin and Fox News, you’ll believe irrational things about them

When Media Matters saw this clip of Sarah Palin punching out former aide Nicole Wallace on Fox News, they immediately put it up on the Media Matters website and accused Fox of producing it.

If there’s one thing the morons at Media Matters hate more than Sarah Palin, it’s Fox News. When they can combine them both in one story, well, now that’s the jackpot, damn it.

So when Media Matters saw this clip of Sarah Palin punching out former aide Nicole Wallace on Fox News, they immediately put it up on the Media Matters website and accused Fox of producing it.

Oops. Looks like someone explained reality to them and they had to run the following correction.

*CORRECTION: This clip’s original headline stated that “Fox’s Special Report creates special video of Sarah Palin punching Nicolle Wallace.” The video Special Report ran was originally from NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Media Matters regrets the error.

Ahhh, what the hell, Media Matters. Why bother with a correction? Your original headline was as close to being accurate as you’ve come in a long time.

Chris Wallace exposes Howard Dean as a liar, Howard Dean exposes Howard Dean as a moron

One-time Presidential hopeful Howard Dean guested on FOX News Sunday and accused the network of racism for its coverage of the Shirley Sherrod and Black Panthers stories. That’s when Chris Wallace came out swinging.

President. Howard. Dean. Pardon us while we shudder at the mere thought of the combination of those three words.

One-time Presidential hopeful Howard Dean guested on FOX News Sunday and accused the network of racism for its coverage of the Shirley Sherrod and Black Panthers stories.

That’s when Chris Wallace came out swinging, pointing out that Sherrod had been fired by the White House before Fox News ever aired the woman’s name.

“Facts be damned,” Dean seemed to say, “I have a liberal meme to communicate here.”

The video is a classic.

Rachel Maddow lies: Fox had absolutely nothing to do with the Shirley Sherrod story

Smug, smirking, smarmy Rachel Maddow took what passes at MSNBC as an in-depth look at the Shirley Sherrod incident and laid the entire blame at the feet of Fox News. Of course, she was lying, but that was probably Fox News’ fault, too.

Smug, smirking, smarmy Rachel Maddow took what passes at MSNBC as an in-depth look at the Shirley Sherrod incident and laid the entire blame at the feet of Fox News. Of course, she was lying, but that was probably Fox News’ fault, too.

Turns out that Fox never mentioned the story until after Sherrod had already resigned her position with the USDA. And that is proven by the very clips that Maddow used to condemn Fox.

Fact is, a closer look at the three Fox video clips Madow uses as “evidence” prove exactly the opposite of what she thinks they prove. The on-screen captions in those three clips read:

  • USDA official resigns over racially-charged remarks
  • Moments ago Sec. Vilsack accepted Sherrod’s resignation
  • USDA official resigns over controversial remarks

(If you can’t stomach watching the entire clip, go to the 4:10 mark to see the clips):

Each of those graphics indicate that Sherrod had resigned before Fox reported the story. Yet Maddow smugly comments, “How’s that for efficient! How’s that for action! Fox News and a conservative website uncover what they say is an admitted racist in the Obama administration and she is forced to resign immediately.”

To summarize: Fox reports that Sherrod has already resigned, yet Maddow uses them as “evidence” that she resigned because of Fox News.

Don’t look now, Rachel, but your effect preceded your cause.

Perry Mason you ain’t.
