The University of Colorado Health hospital sent a letter to Leilani Lutali, 56, who was set to receive a kidney from Jaimee Fougner, 45,  informing her that the procedure could not be done until both women were vaccinated against COVID-19.  

‘I feel coerced. I feel like my life is being held in their hands in exchange for a shot, and the attitude is just take the shot,’ Lutali told Denver7.  

Fougner told CBS, ‘Here I am, willing to be a direct donor to her. It does not affect any other patient on the transplant list. How can I sit here and allow them to murder my friend when I’ve got a perfectly good kidney and can save her life?’

Ellume is recalling nearly 200,000 rapid at-home COVID-19 antigen tests out of concerns over an abnormally high rate of false positives observed from certain lots of its tests.

Roughly 427,000 test kits, including thousands sent to retailers and some provided to the Department of Defense, have been impacted by the issue.

According to the Telegraph, leaked documents filed with the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), show an international team of scientists were planning to grow a new virus by combining the genetic material of various other strains.

The documents appear to show scientists had planned to take the genetic sequences of known coronavirus strains to combine them into a new generation of virus.

The proposal reads: “We will compile sequence/RNAseq data from a panel of closely related strains and compare full-length genomes, scanning for unique SNPs representing sequencing errors.

Authors Amy Maxmen and Smriti Mallapaty noted the virus could have emerged from a lab “in theory” and the theory cannot be entirely ruled out but “many infectious-disease researchers agree that the most probable scenario is that the virus evolved naturally and spread from a bat either directly to a person or through an intermediate animal”
