It’s been a bad week or so for MSNBC’s grating, obnoxious host substitute Lawrence O’Donnell. A really bad week.
He recently conducted what has been widely called “the worst interview in history” while filling in for Ed Schultz.
Apparently O’Donnell didn’t see the reviews, because he tried the same obnoxious, pushy tactics while filling in for Chris Matthews on Friday.
But this time the result was different. Republican Congressman John Culberson of Texas came out with all barrels blasting:
“You know, Lawrence, for your listeners, you’re illustrating why MSNBC’s viewership is in the tank. Because you don’t allow your people you’re interviewing to answer questions. And, you know, Lawrence, this is why Katie and everybody else is going to Facebook, everyone’s going to the Internet because why listen to MSNBC when you won’t even let the people you’re interviewing answer the question?”
Letting Republican congressmen make you look bad is no way to get a regular gig, Lawrence.

Heeey, what you saw with O'Donnell is WHY he has his job at BSNBC. He goes off all the time, & that's what they want at 30Rock.
Of course "Pittsburgh Z" is correct-- regardless of one's political beliefs, that was the worst TV interview I've ever seen conducted. O'Donnell must have attended the Robert Gibbs school of obnoxious interviewing--just talk over anyone or any answer you don't like in a pathetic attempt to control the dialogue.
The point that the Diegos and Pattys (and O'Donnell) don't seem to recognize is that "journalism" isn't supposed to be about injecting one's own opinion, much less trying to squelch someone else's repeatedly rudely and inappropriately.
I guess that's one of the main reasons no one I know with a brain in their head watches MSNBC any more--just a bunch of highly polarized Obama jocksniffers with an extremely contstricted Weltanschauung. (look it up Patty--you're obviously one too!)
Diego, +1 to your post. It reminded me of Hannity as well. I can't stand the tactic of interrupting an answer with "Answer the question!" It's the journalistic equivilant of moving your car forward while your buddy is trying to get in. "Ok, get in. Just kidding, I won't do it again. Oops. Ok, this time i promise... "
I'm no fan of O'Donnell or MSNBC, but I have to give him props for the question, but not for how he asked it. It reminded me of Hannity when he is on the phone with a liberal he's decided he doesn't like.
Culberson may have had a point with MSNBC tanking (and deservedly so) but he could not deal with the question, so I'll call it a draw.
He never got a chance to actually answer the question. Every time he tried, O'Donnell kept interrupting him.
dont you think that most of jouralists think they knew better? It is worldwide phenomena. They always say that Politics to it wrong - and they know how it should be done.
One day i asked famous polish journalist on meeting with him on my university about this - "you seem to know everything about everything so why dont you become prime minister and do everything right. You surely would have big support" - and what he said?
"No, i cant go in to politics. Im a journalist."
What the f...? Why they so bad for us, they can fix everything and wont do it! They just evil people i tell you!
No matter what you political views happen to be.....that was a horrible interview.

I don't get it. It sounds like this is a video of O'Donnell making a fool of the congressman. Everything is flipped 360 degrees around here.
