Shrill accusations, false testimony, over-emotional bleating. Hey, wait a second. Are we describing the Salem Witch Trials or today’s political landscape?
According to salemwitchtrial.com, “In January of 1692, the daughter and niece of Reverend Samuel Parris of Salem Village became ill. When they failed to improve, the village doctor, William Griggs, was called in. His diagnosis of bewitchment put into motion the forces that would ultimately result in the death by hanging of nineteen men and women. In addition, one man was crushed to death; seven others died in prison, and the lives of many were irrevocably changed.”
Horrible, to be sure, but what was the burden of proof on the accusers? You couldn’t just yell “Witch!” and get someone you didn’t like killed. Or could you? Apparently the ‘proof’ was “Their names had been ‘cried out’ by tormented young girls as the cause of their pain.”
Well, there you have it.
Today’s political landscape sounds eerily similar, with Democrats filling the role of the tormented young girls. For example:
Democratic Congressman “Dick” Winder says “Palin Is Stoking Liberal Hate!!”
New York Times Columnist and MSNBC Talking Head Frank Rich says “Opposition to Obamacare is Racism”
Democratic Congressman Alan Grayson “Compares Republicans to Nazis”
The shrill accusations go on and on. In a thinly-veiled attempt to discredit the right and in a preview of what to expect in the upcoming mid-term elections, the left has launched an all-out media blitz crying “Witch, Witch, Witch!” and the media, hoping some real trials and maybe an actual death or two might result, provide wall-to-wall 24-hour a day coverage of the tormented young girls leftists.
All you need is a left wing sound bite and poof, instant witches ready for trial.
Good thing they didn’t have cable in Salem the death toll would have been considerably higher.

Whoever Dugg the article, thanks. But, as usual, the anti-free speech "bury patrol" at Digg "buried" it. Got to 150 Diggs in hours and was made "Popular" but now it's invisible to the Digg index.
If someone here wants to piss off some more lefties, and you have some followers over at Reddit, go submit it there, and then come back here and give us the link so we can go vote it up over there. Same crazy crowd there as Digg, but at least they don't have "burys."

I'm sorry, but what media are we talking about? Are we talking about the countless hours of Right wing riot rallying coming out of Fox news and other Murdoch Affiliates? Or perhaps we are discussing how many of the more conservative members of congress openly support characters such as Glenn Beck, who spend a majority portion of every Broadcast calling officials on all government levels Communists, Nazis, Maoists, and Fascists. These men and women live on breading fear and blinding the general public to the actual extremity of their plight, the individual issues, and what can be done to improve the lives of every American Citizen. I agree that Rick, Winder, and Grayson are out of line. This kind of straw man tactic is weak and puts massive holes in argument against the issue of media slander and the call to arms coming out of conservative punditry. But this article only tells half the story. No one here is in the right, there is not victory to be had pointing fingers and assigning blame, it simply fuels the fires of hate and aggression we struggle with Daily in the modern America. Great change always comes with a price and a fight, but the best way for our country to grow, one way or another, is to work together to bridge the gaps we have created for ourselves. We must speak out on both sides to find a middle ground. We are all working toward the same goals, toward peace, prosperity, and most importantly happiness, for ourselves, our family, our friends, and our country. Before we start pointing fingers at other people, lets think on how much we are to blame. We all have an equal state in this, this is our country, we all love and cherish what we have here, in our freedoms and in our responsibilities toward each other. America can stand as a beacon of hope, from within and without, but that light has been darkened by fear and apathy. But violence will only throw us further into darkness, and this blame tossing on both sides can only get worse unless we start to speak out against it, not with anger, but with hope and compassion for the other. The truth will set us free, seek it, not only from your enemies but from yourselves and we may begin to grow toward a brighter tomorrow.
The main difference between Salem and now..is that the Democrats are telling the truth. What happened in Salem was based on lies...in this case the Repugs are doing exactly what the Dems accuse them of...
