Eric Holder says Black Panther voter intimidation case demeans his people

To tell the truth, when we heard that Attorney General Eric Holder had uttered the phrase “my people,” we kind of hoped that he was talking about average Americans. Or justice department attorneys. Or socialists. Or even guys who look like guys who starred in the old Barney Miller TV show.

No such luck. The man sworn to protect and defend the Constitution was talking about black people.

Shit, meet fan: Imagine if a white Attorney General had spoken of "my people"

Politico reports Holder’s rather racist rant:

Attorney General Eric Holder finally got fed up Tuesday with claims that the Justice Department went easy in a voting rights case against members of the New Black Panther Party because they are African American.

Holder’s frustration over the criticism became evident during a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing as Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) accused the Justice Department of failing to cooperate with a Civil Rights Commission investigation into the handling of the 2008 incident in which Black Panthers in intimidating outfits and wielding a club stood outside a polling place in Philadelphia.

The Attorney General seemed to take personal offense at a comment Culberson read in which former Democratic activist Bartle Bull called the incident the most serious act of voter intimidation he had witnessed in his career.

“Think about that,” Holder said. “When you compare what people endured in the South in the 60s to try to get the right to vote for African Americans, and to compare what people were subjected to there to what happened in Philadelphia—which was inappropriate, certainly that…to describe it in those terms I think does a great disservice to people who put their lives on the line, who risked all, for my people,” said Holder, who is black.

Lord, set my people free. And when we say “my people,” we’re talking about moron bloggers. And guys who sit around in their underwear making smartass politic comments. And, oh yeah, outraged Americans.

  • well, i was going to say take the post down because it's over the top. however, I'm getting such a chuckle from the comments on it that maybe it should just stay up.

I have not seen either the editor or the administrator in their underwear. Mrs. Editor and Mrs. Administrator have that responsibility and presumably do a handy job of it.

  • "Lord, set my people free. And when we say “my people,” we’re talking about moron bloggers. And guys who sit around in their underwear making smartass politic comments. And, oh yeah, outraged Americans."

Dear Administrator: I am offended by your racist comments. I am not a "moron blogger", I can prove my I.Q. is two points above the moron requirements.

I also demand you apologize for accusing me of wearing underwear while making pubic comments. I don't wear underwear when commenting in private either so don't accuse me of doing something I don't do.

A smartass, angry American? I'll give you credit for that one, because that is what I are. The only thing you left out is we Americans, regardless of race, are angry and post smartass comments because we are tired of the politics as usual crap coming from our nations elected leaders. And the fools they appoint.

    • "we Americans, regardless of race, are angry and post smartass comments because we are tired of the politics as usual crap coming from our nations elected leaders. And the fools they appoint."

      Here, here.

    • Settle down, Whiskey. Those comments about moron bloggers in their underwear referred to The Editor and the Administrator when we're putting this IHTM thing together at 3:30 a.m. every morning. And by the way, we are both in our own homes when we're our respective underwears. I have no interest in seeing the Administrator in his underwear. I also have no interest in seeing him without his underwear. We had lunch today and I'm happy to report that he was fully clothed.

      • As one smartass to another I salute you! A good reply is always welcome reading.

And, I am glad you and the Administrator do not have to look at each other in your undies while getting your day started. I would think that could be distracting and we readers might not find such quality posts on this site. Not to mention the gag reflex if we had a visual of you two together, sans underwear, creating your daily genious.

  • Steadman finally admits that he didn't want to do anything because they were black. The whistle blower that came up and told this months and months ago (who is white) got creamed by the media for telling the truth. I wonder how the media is going to spin this if they talk about it at all. Pathetic.

      • You are right. The main media did not touch this story at all. Only a few and most conservative in nature. It is amazing the amount of power that the liberal media still has on this country. It is truly pathetic.

      • To the idiot thumbs down: Next time place a reason. The entire Obama administration as well as people like Sharpton do demean people. You are idiot if you don't agree, because it is actually plain to see.

        • Amen KimmyQueen. Just keep preaching the truth and beating the drum. Sooner or later it will get thru to the thicked skulled ones.

  • This guy is an inept, racist, POS, but then that describes pretty much everybody working for Barry.

  • Remember all those WILD internet rumors about what an Obama regime would look lie?

    Seriously underestimated in retrospect.
