No one’s ever accused Wikipedia of being impartial nor even particularly accurate. But Lawrence Solomon’s story in the National Post reveals how one global warming cultist, William Connolley, (PHOTO, RIGHT) single-handedly twisted the truth in more than 5,000 Wikipedia articles on global warming:
Connolley took control of all things climate in the most used information source the world has ever known – Wikipedia. Starting in February 2003, just when opposition to the claims of the band members were beginning to gel, Connolley set to work on the Wikipedia site. He rewrote Wikipedia’s articles on global warming, on the greenhouse effect, on the instrumental temperature record, on the urban heat island, on climate models, on global cooling. On Feb. 14, he began to erase the Little Ice Age; on Aug.11, the Medieval Warm Period. In October, he turned his attention to the hockey stick graph. He rewrote articles on the politics of global warming and on the scientists who were skeptical of the band. Richard Lindzen and Fred Singer, two of the world’s most distinguished climate scientists, were among his early targets, followed by others that the band especially hated, such as Willie Soon and Sallie Baliunas of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, authorities on the Medieval Warm Period.
All told, Connolley created or rewrote 5,428 unique Wikipedia articles. His control over Wikipedia was greater still, however, through the role he obtained at Wikipedia as a website administrator, which allowed him to act with virtual impunity. When Connolley didn’t like the subject of a certain article, he removed it — more than 500 articles of various descriptions disappeared at his hand. When he disapproved of the arguments that others were making, he often had them barred — over 2,000 Wikipedia contributors who ran afoul of him found themselves blocked from making further contributions. Acolytes whose writing conformed to Connolley’s global warming views, in contrast, were rewarded with Wikipedia’s blessings. In these ways, Connolley turned Wikipedia into the missionary wing of the global warming movement.

Connolley holds a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oxford for his work on numerical analysis. Connolley has authored and co-authored many articles in the field of climatological research.
Connolley served as a parish councillor in the village of Coton (near Cambridge, England) until May 2007. He stood as a Green Party candidate for either South Cambridgeshire District Council or Cambridgeshire County Council every year from 2001 to 2005.
Of course, Connolley probably wrote his own Wikipedia bio, so we have no idea if any of it is true.

well, this seems to be their m.o.. don't like the argument, change it so only one side is presented. take over wikipedia, so the kids can say there is overwheming support for global warming. of course, there is. but of course, anyone in academia never cites or rely on wikipedia, so let's do the same with peer reviews. take over editorials, magazines,threaten any dissenting voices with job loss or funding and bingo the perfect storm is created--global warming scam--the storm of the century.

Wikipedia is a 'first run' source of information. Its what one can look at first to get a snapshot of information but not all the details one might fully need. Its not complete nor of course accurate, information wise. Hell, Wikipedia says Obama was born in HI. LOL!
Its a nice site to share a link on a topic with others BECAUSE IT ACTS LIKE A BASIC INFORMATION AGGREGATOR of what has been posted by others. As for the veracity of said information... its hit and miss.
If you are going to Wikipedia to learn your science- you are a f*cking idiot! LOL! Its a user submitted catalog of information; its a internet forum with some variable level of quality control. Who the users are and how they play internet politics on that site will bias the quality of the data.

Climate prediction.
All average global temperatures since 1895 are predicted by a simple model. There was no need to consider change to the level of CO2 or any other greenhouse gas.

This model predicted the ongoing temperature decline trend. None of the 20 or so models that the IPCC uses do.

Interestingly, I looked for other photos of him in Google Images, and other than his Wikipedia photo, and another where he is with a couple kids (so I won't publish that one) there are no other photos of him I could find. Weird, for someone of his "stature." Does he also control Image Search?

Weird, but not wholly unexpected because of this one reason: they love being the guy behind the curtain.
Overall a lot of a$$holes can get away with being insipid, uneducated and vulgar in the internet because of anonymity. The idea of someone being behind the curtain and spewing what they deem to be gospel truly exemplifies what type of people they are. they want to assert what they say is true but wont show their faces. Those that do like Al Gore they may make a lot of money and get a lot of recognition but also get the brunt of the jokes, investigations etc

It is so bad over at Wikipedia, my school, and many others have banned it as a research source. A student of my earned an F on a recent paper for citing Wikipedia. Thanks for the evidence of the bias we have seen for years.
