President Obama just nominated a character named Harold Koh to be the State Department’s top legal advisors. He sounds more dangerous than unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers.
According to the New York Post, Koh believes:
Judges should interpret the Constitution according to other nations’ legal “norms.” Sharia law could apply to disputes in US courts. The United States constitutes an “axis of disobedience” along with North Korea and Saddam-era Iraq.
Until he was nominated for the State Department position, Koh was dean of the Yale Law School. He believes in a “transnational legal process.” That is, he believes the distinctions between United States law and international law should be eliminated.
What would this look like in a practical sense? Well, California voters have overruled their courts, which had imposed same-sex marriage on the state. Koh would like to see such matters go up the chain through federal courts — which, in turn, should look to the rest of the world. If Canada, the European Human Rights Commission and the United Nations all say gay marriage should be legal — well, then, it should be legal in California too, regardless of what the state’s voters and elected representatives might say.

every time I read this stuff, I just heave a deep sigh...and hope I awake from the nightmare.

not so fast! if we adopt other country's laws, we have to take the whole "shootin" match.
-- homosexuals are shot or beheaded -- don't even talk about gay marriage. Makes prop 8 seem pretty egalitarian by comparison
-- many countries do not let their citizens feed at the public trough. no work no eat, pretty simple.
-- drug addicts are executed in sharia law, or left to rot in a cell till their demonds destroy them. that would have two purposes, no taxpayer funded rehab centers, and no US market to fund drug cartels in mexico.
With appointments like this one, the administration isn't hiding their intentions now like they did throughout the campaign. Dayum.

Thank you for going out each day to find the hypocrisy in the media that makes us chuckle through the pain of today's reality. I am sure this is a great risk on your part, as there is so much to provoke pain rather than mirth. The new administration is tragic rather than funny. My students are watching a video on the causes of, and beginning of the War Between the States. I am almost horrified by the parallels to our situation today. Since you see this daily it is a wonder you are still sane. Keep up the search, as you know that some days are better than others. Many of us appreciate your effort, we really do. Because of stories like this, we need your take on news, or all of the days will be bad days.
