Barack Obama claims that he hasn’t seen any plans from Republicans. How about this one from House Republican leader John Boehner.
The Ohio Republican told Good Morning America that both parties should work together to create jobs by cutting spending to 2008 levels and freezing all tax rates for two years.
“What I’d like to do is work on a bipartisan basis to do two things. First, instead of waiting until after the election to put together some big omnibus spending bill with a bunch of wasteful spending, why wouldn’t we do this? Why don’t we pass a bill this month at 2008 spending levels — before the TARP, before the bailouts, before the ‘stimulus’ — and let’s put some certainty in the economy. … Secondly, why wouldn’t we work together to make it clear that all current tax rates will be extended for the next two years? What that will do is help small businesses, who have no clue what the coming tax rates are going to be, and give them some certainty. If we’re able to do this together, I think we’ll show the American people that we understand what’s going on in the country and we’ll be able to get our economy moving again and get jobs growing in America.”
Of course, George Stephanopoulos looked at him like he had two heads. Which, of course, would be two more than the Democrats seem to have these days.

You just don't get it . In Obamaspeak, bi partisan means to follow and support everything he and his minions come up with. If you don't you are a teabagger, and one of a party of no. The concept that bi partison actually means working to gether and compromising a little if necessary to come to a solution is completely foreign to them.
I'd propose to severely cut back on the number of work visas issued for foreigners that come (legally) into this country. No one can tell me that there are not qualified Americans that can do the job that they are...I've heard the visa number is in the vicinity of 125,000 a month.
If that's anywhere near true, THAT is a disgrace given the current economic climate!
Cut back? Hell, I go as far as REVOKE. American jobs for American Citizens.
Are we supposed to take ABC and Good Morning America seriously when they conduct polls about someone's tanning practices?
In the mean time our Half-Cracker™ POTUS continues to go around the country in full campaign mode spouting off that the Republicans have NEVER offered any suggestions or ideas ( at none that Congress ever listened to ) .
When Democrats like Jerry Brown say "Cut spending" they mean for us to cut spending and lower our expectations.
When Republicans say it they mean cut government spending.
Lets spend more money on a stimulus bill- more reckless spending- more time waster- ummmm no. Why should our kids be taking the hit for our stupidity?

You're kidding, right? Boehner voted *FOR* the bailout-- TWICE. Remember, it failed in the House the first time, then came back for a second vote. Boehner voted in favor of the TARP *both* times.
Yeah, he postured in December 2009 to stop it. Too damned late.
Both decisions-- his original two "yes" votes and the subsequent backpedaling-- have nothing to do with principles and everything to do with what will sell in the next election.
BTW I just googled his Democrat opponent in November. The Democrat actually looks pretty OK-- Justin Coussoule, West Point graduate, former US Army captain. And he seems to have the same horrible barber as Bill Gates.
Coussoule's been tricked into thinking that cap-and-trade is a good idea, but seems to understand the concept of national debt. I wonder how he would have voted on TARP if phone calls to his congressional office were running 100:1 to 300:1 against passage? Coussoule's cap-and-trade stance is unfortunate, but I bet he could be educated on the climate change claptrap and persuaded that cap-and-trade is a fraud.

The unanimous vote by House Republicans against President Obama's stimulus plan provided an early indication that the GOP hopes to regain power by becoming the champion of small government, a reputation many felt slipped away during the high-spending Bush years.
The bill passed easily despite the opposition of all 177 Republican House members, but party leaders delighted in what they considered a victory after two straight electoral drubbings and much soul-searching about what the party stands for.
Let me get this straight. You hang out on political websites and don't even know the difference between the TARP (September/October 2008, Bush presidency) and the Stimulus Bill (January 2009, Obama presidency)?
You are confusing the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (House Resolution 1424, which authorized the Secretary of the Treasury to create the Troubled Asset Relief Program, i.e., the TARP, a.k.a., the bailout) and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (i.e., the stimulus bill).
No Republicans in the House voted for the *stimulus* bill in 2009. The stimulus bill is not the TARP. Lots and lots of House Republicans voted for the TARP-- 65 Republicans did in round one (HR3997, last week of September 2008, which was originally a bill for helping the armed forces. The TARP bit got tacked on only as an emergency provision, so when you google HR3997 it doesn't immediately look like the TARP) and then 91 House Republicans voted for it in round two (HR1424, first week of October 2008).
Calls to most lawmakers' offices were running between 100:1 and 300:1 AGAINST the TARP. Boehner voted FOR the TARP, *twice*.

You don't know the difference between the TARP (pre-election 2008... McCain even suspended his campaign to go back to Washington... surely you remember that?) and the stimulus bill (Obama White House). If people who hang out on political sites don't even know the difference, what hope is there for the rest of the country?
This is really a "do or die" for the Republicans should they take the house. They need ot back up their position of No on the following:
cap and trade, anymore stimulus, healthcare, etc. Then they need to repeal the heatlhcare debacel and start over with some of their ideas, they need to look at some solid tax cutting measures for small business and most importatnly, cutting spending. By the way, they should be overusing the line from Pelosi, "we have to pass it to see what's in it" to paint the dems as power hungry mongrels who care nothing about "we the people" and only about the power they wield.
