Incoming House Speaker John Boehner’s office (R-Ohio) pointedly vowed on Tuesday to push ahead with legislation repealing healthcare reform.
Boehner’s office responded to a letter sent by the Senate’s top five Democrats, vowing to block a House bill repealing health reform, with a terse, 65-word note.

Thank you for reminding us – and the American people – of the backroom deal that you struck behind closed doors with ‘Big Pharma,’ resulting in bigger profits for the drug companies, and higher prescription drug costs for 33 million seniors enrolled in Medicare Part D, at a cost to the taxpayers of $42.6 billion.

Apparently, Schultz is an elitist and his real problem is that Boehner’s drink of choice isn’t something classy like Chivas and that Boehner doesn’t repeatedly embarrass himself in public like the Lion of the Senate did oh-so-many times.

We’re not implying that the New York Times would not recognize the truth if it bit them in their collective journalistic asses, but we are inferring it.
The New York Times has boldly broken the news that “Mr. Boehner, the House minority leader and would-be speaker if Republicans win the House in November … maintains especially tight ties with a circle of lobbyists and former aides representing some of the nation’s biggest businesses, including Goldman Sachs, Google, Citigroup, R. J. Reynolds, MillerCoors and UPS.”
What the rag fails to mention is the fact that The Most Honest and Righteous President In History also received a wee bit of help from these same groups.
According to Opensecrets.org, Obama collected a cool $994,795 from the evil Goldman Sachs, $695,132 from the nefarious J.P Morgan and a whopping $701,290 from the untrustworthy Citigroup.
According to the same website, during the 2009 – 2010 campaign cycle Boehner collected a grand total of $238,300 from Securities and Exchange and $164,000 and change from Commercial Banks. So who is tied to who exactly?
The Times also attempted some character assassination by describing Boehner as a “…a 60-year-old, perpetually tanned, sharply tailored, chain-smoking golfer.” Hey, take ten years off the age and that sounds like a certain president we know.
In regards to lobbyists, the Wall Street Journal reports that, “New campaign finance data shows that Democrats now receive far more campaign cash from lobbyists and corporate fund-raising arms than Republicans.
Lobbyists have donated twice as much to Democrats as Republicans this year -– and corporate PACs have sent 60% of their money to Democrats, according to the data.”.

The Ohio Republican told Good Morning America that both parties should work together to create jobs by cutting spending to 2008 levels and freezing all tax rates for two years.
“What I’d like to do is work on a bipartisan basis to do two things. First, instead of waiting until after the election to put together some big omnibus spending bill with a bunch of wasteful spending, why wouldn’t we do this? Why don’t we pass a bill this month at 2008 spending levels — before the TARP, before the bailouts, before the ‘stimulus’ — and let’s put some certainty in the economy. … Secondly, why wouldn’t we work together to make it clear that all current tax rates will be extended for the next two years? What that will do is help small businesses, who have no clue what the coming tax rates are going to be, and give them some certainty. If we’re able to do this together, I think we’ll show the American people that we understand what’s going on in the country and we’ll be able to get our economy moving again and get jobs growing in America.”
Of course, George Stephanopoulos looked at him like he had two heads. Which, of course, would be two more than the Democrats seem to have these days.

Here’s something we’ve never done before. We’re going to flat out quote from a Republican party press release. And due to today’s extreme circumstances, we’re happy to do it.
House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) requesting that the final health care votes be recorded by “call of the roll” so that every lawmaker is required to publicly announce their vote on the House floor.
“This weekend’s votes will be among the most consequential votes we will ever cast as Members of Congress,” Boehner says in the letter to Speaker Pelosi. “As such, it is my belief that every Member should stand before the American people and announce his or her vote as the final decision is made.”
According to the rules of the House of Representatives, “Unless the Speaker directs otherwise, the Clerk shall conduct a record vote or quorum call by electronic device. … The Speaker may direct the Clerk to conduct a record vote or quorum call by call of the roll. In such a case the Clerk shall call the names of Members, alphabetically by surname.”
The problem here is that Boehner addressed his letter to “The Honorable Nancy Pelosi” and the thinking here is that she may be confused by the term honorable.
Seriously. At what point does reality overwhelm tradition and hoary, honorific titles get relegated to the trash bin of history?

For his part, President Obama comes to the table with the same massive government takeover of health care that the American people have already rejected. In effect, the president’s proposal actually takes the 2,733-page bill that the Senate passed on Christmas Eve and manages to make it worse. Even more Medicare cuts. Even more tax hikes. Plenty of special-interest deals still in place. A trillion-dollar price tag.
This latest Democrats-only backroom deal snuffed out any chance that this summit could serve as the starting point for a bipartisan consensus. Democrats are instead hoping that this media event can be the gateway to a final push that involves circumventing the will of the people and jamming a bill through using parliamentary tricks.
This is the same arrogance and overreaching that the American people are so fed up with. It’s why Massachusetts happened. It’s why Americans waited for hours in the August heat to get into town hall meetings and make sure their voices were heard.
Indeed, we’ve been here before. Shortly after Labor Day, the president gave an address to Congress designed to resuscitate his proposed government takeover of health care. That speech was followed by an all-out media blitz. It was described as a “last-ditch effort,” “an opportunity to take back the initiative.” Nearly six months later, still no health care bill has been signed into law, tens of thousands more have lost their jobs and unemployment is still near 10 percent.
All this uncertainty is hurting small businesses, the engine of job creation in our country, while Americans are rightly asking: “Where are the jobs?”
The president’s health care media blitz was based on the notion that the more the American people learn about his plan, the more they would come to like it. Now that just the opposite has occurred, the president has chosen to limit participation in the Thursday summit to administration officials and congressional leaders. America’s governors and state legislatures have been excluded. Their perspective from the front lines about the damage this massive government takeover of health care would do to cash-strapped states is apparently not welcome. That’s greatly disappointing, considering that measures have been introduced in at least 36 state legislatures opting out of a federal takeover of health care.Also excluded from today’s summit is Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., co-author of a House-passed amendment barring federal funding of abortion. The Stupak-Pitts amendment — which reflects the will of the American people on the issue of federal funding of abortion — is supported by a bipartisan majority in the House, but was excluded from the president’s proposal. Pro-life Democrats in the House have already pledged to vote against this provision. Health care reform should be an opportunity to protect human life — not end it. This fundamental issue isn’t even listed as a topic for discussion at the summit.
The president can hold all the summits he wants, but the toothpaste is out of the tube: The American people don’t want this massive government takeover of health care. No summit or speech or sales pitch can fix a fundamentally flawed 2,000-plus-page health care bill that spends money we don’t have and kills the jobs we need to get our economy moving again.
Let’s listen to the American people and let’s start over.

Top Republican calls Obama’s General Motors plans “lunacy”
House Republican Leader John Boehner is not a fan of President Obama plans for General Motors. In fact, he calls them “lunacy.”
“When the government got involved with helping Chrysler in the late 1970’s,” Boehner noted, “there were hearings, there were oversight hearings afterward and we ought to have the same thing happen here.”
Boehner seems justifiably upset that Obama’s hand will exert too much unfettered control over the new GM.
“…one only has to look at what happened several weeks ago when the government basically coerced the auto companies to stand there and agree to a CAFE (corporate average fuel economy) standard that cannot be met unless the auto companies force Americans to buy cars that they don’t want to buy.”
“This is lunacy! And all of this is going to get stuck on the backs of middle-class taxpayers,” Boehner continued. “Not only are they going to have to pay for the [auto] bailout, but they’re going to pay much higher prices for these cars they don’t want to buy because of the mandates that are coming from the government.”
As we recall, central planning didn’t work out too well in the old Soviet Union. But Barack Obama gives a much better speech than Joe Stalin and that makes all the difference in the world.

Rush Limbaugh stated the obvious when he said Obama is “obviously more frightened of me than he is Mitch McConnell. He’s more frightened of me, than he is of, say, John Boehner, which doesn’t say much about our party.”
Ass-kissing Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga., jumped the the defense of these two losers:
“I think that our leadership, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, are taking the right approach,” Gingrey said. “I mean, it’s easy if you’re Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks…But when it comes to true leadership, not that these people couldn’t be or wouldn’t be good leaders, they’re not in that position of John Boehner or Mitch McConnell.”
He then told reporters he’d love to stay and talk more, but was overdue for a ceremony at the Shrine of the Unknown Loser, where McConnell and Boehner were being enshrined.
