We have to give Jon Stewart a little bit of credit here. Despite being reliably liberal, he occasionally find fault with those on the left.
Take this video clip for example. Stewart begins by making fun of preposterous liberal depictions of Paul Ryan. Funny thing is, the audience doesn’t seem to realize that Stewart’s making fun of liberals when he says Ryan’s plan includes beating seniors to death with an Ayn Rand novel.
Then Stewart turns his guns (please pardon the violent rhetoric) on Obama’s newly-minted phrase “spending reductions in the tax code.” Stewart uses a couple colorful analogies to explain exactly what it means.
The audience was undoubtedly confused by Stewart’s criticism of Obama, but they surely rationalized it to themselves by thinking, “Heh-heh-heh. Must be funny. Heard dirty words.”

I have known very smart people who watch Jon Stewart and think that he is liberal but he does point out when the liberals are talking out their ass. I personally don't think the richer elements of ut society, excuse me "Job creators", should have to pay any less of a percentage than we do, I am not saying they should pay more, but they shouldn't be getting away with paying less of a percentage just because they are all greedy bastards.
And Stewart beats Fox News at least there is only ONE biased "Reporter" on Jon Stewart, where as tere is 12 or more on Fox, all the snide comments they always make, the fact that they rarely have anyone on their programs that praise any liberal action.
Its no wonder you people think your beliefs are in the majority, if this is the tripe you watch I'd believe it to.
And no I do not watch CNN either, neither Fox nor CNN are trustworthy to bring unbiased news, though Fox is far moreso, but your not going to agree with me, because they report how YOU see the world and your so damn self absorbed and biased you cannot see the differance.

Your part about Bush and Obama being criticized is laughable. I have seen both in drag, both with Hitler mustaches, and both holding a hammer and sickle. I also spent about a good three months of my life rallying against Bush and his overspending.

Why is Ryan's plan a joke? He wants to eliminate the special deductions the rich get, and by doing so would make them pay more. Also he wants to lower the tax rate which hurts small business (I believe by 25%). Lastly he said he wants to keep the tax revenue the same. I think if you eliminate the loop-holes i.e.: GE paid no tax, the government will increase revenue without raising taxes.
I can see that you're one of the people that still believes that corporations pay taxes. Corporations COLLECT taxes from the end consumer, and pass them on to the government. Corporate taxes are just another way of hiding from the individual the real level of taxation that is being squeezed from us. ALL taxes are paid by the individual. If you increase the corporate tax rate, or close loopholes, the shareholders and CEOs don't dig into their pockets and pay the taxes. They increase the retail price to the consumer. Creating more hidden taxation. Economics 101. Don't feel bad, though. The President didn't pass that class either.
There is no business tax that gets paid by the business? Of course there isn't! Everything ever paid by a business is paid with money that came from the purchase of their goods or service. If a business gets a tax increase the people that pay the increase will be those paying the increased price of those goods or services. Like RHG and virtually every other regular here, at least the ones that can draw a straight line without being hooked up to an EEG, this is easy to understand. Cost of doing business determines price of product. Taxes are part of the cost of business and when they increase the price goes up accordingly, else the business fails.

Most companies have a net profit % in the low single digits. Net profits, after paying employees, taxes, and other expenses. If taxes get raised the money either comes from the company raising prices, OR from the company lowering their net profits. Oftentimes a company is UNABLE to raise prices because of competition. Actually I would say almost always. Lowering business profits results in less expansion as almost always profits are used to fund expansion. If you aren't reinvesting in your business, your competitor will and you will be left behind. Few choices on that one, I know from personal experience. Lower profits means lower or no wage increases, no or lower benefits etc. The idea that massive amounts of money pile up in the owners pockets is simply wrong. A few obvious exceptions to that rule is what colors everyone's opinions.
But yes, ultimately, one way or another, the consumer bears the brunt of *any* increase in taxes. They just don't notice it when its priced into products they buy and services they use or wage increases they failed to receive.
BTW: Hong Kong used to have a flat tax of 17%. The government was collecting TOO MUCH money and therefore reduced it to its current rate of 15%. Its time to get rid of corporate welfare and subsidies that allow GE not only to avoid paying taxes but to get BILLIONS in tax credits!
Good idea, raise taxes. Yeah, that'll solve our problems. Gas is skyrocketing, food prices will follow suit shortly after, jobs are still ultra scarce, people can barely afford to pay their bills right now, but hell yeah, let's just take even more from the people.

Serious question. Does Stewart really have an audience? I thought that was the ole reliable laugh track. Of course I havent watched him in years, my tv's skip the misnamed "Comedy" Channel. (Nothing is funny on it.) But in the past when channel surfing I'd wonder, "Who is this asshole?" I was sure it was a laugh track.
