If you read the bios of all of the “journalists” at the Huffington Post you might believe them all to be brilliant political strategists, what with “Director” of this and “Professor” of that associated with their names. And Marty Kaplan would fit that mold exactly.

Why is it then that in writing “The Vitriol in Our National Bloodstream” Kaplan feels justified in making up his own facts?
In writing about the horrors that occurred in Tucson, his focus was “violent rhetoric” and it wasn’t just any old violent rhetoric that had Kaplan’s liberal knickers in a knot, but the horrible, evil of “the inflammatory rhetoric of McCain/Palin events in 2008” and “the ugly confrontations at congressional town halls in the summer of 2009.”
It’s kind of amazing how liberal memories work. Which “McCain/Palin events” is the author referring to? If our memory serves correctly, the only examples of violence during the 2009 town hall meetings attributed to the left, such as the infamous SEIU beating of an African-American vendor.
Going even further down the deluded liberal path, Kaplan finds the tragedy in Tucson the perfect opportunity to score political points against “right-wing anarchism” and the ridiculous individuals who “accord scriptural authority to the Constitution” and don’t believe as the author does that “The Constitution isn’t holy writ; it’s a living document whose text and meaning have evolved through the centuries” which essentially means that people like Kaplan can make it mean anything they want it to mean.
The author also wants this tragedy to be “a teachable moment.” That’s a noble sentiment, but unfortunately, he only wants it to teach something that is not true.
The right, whether speaking of Republicans, Conservatives or Tea Party, has no interest in “tearing down the government,” but merely in limiting it.
That became a crime when, Professor Kaplan?

This story reminds me of another story, from 2009. Back then, Carlos Watson, who had a show on BSNBC for about 3 hours, claimed that socialist is the N word...
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2009/08/10/msnbc-anchor-socialist-becoming-new-n-word
...which is bullsh!t. But taking Watson's "rational" to the next level, we have people like MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell & VT Senator Bernie Sanders are self proclaimed socialists. They admit it, they are proud to say it, & they carry the flag for socialism. But by no reasonable standard would anyone who uses the "n-word"(is there really a "reasonable standard" for using the "n-word"?), would any of them, black or white, consider either O'Donnell or Sanders a "n-word"? Hardly, & that is 1 way of exposing Carlos Watson for what he is, an entry level political hack. The same thing goes for Marty Kaplin, who just another in a long line(which is getting longer by the hour)of leftist hacks who say whatever they want & expect you buy it, who get rejected, & don't understand why. Marty Kaplin is an idiot, & is less of a teacher then Gabe Kaplin was in "Welcome Back Kotter". Plus, Gabe was an excelent poker player too, gotta respect that.
If Kaplan wishes to make the Constitution into a living and brething document so be it. When his free speech is then stopped he will have no one to whine to or blame other than himsefl and his like minded friends. I doubt if Mr. Kaplan has even bothered to read it or visit The National Archives to see it. When I saw it, I failed to see it's lungs rise and fall or move in any manner. Therefore, it's not a living breathing document. Its the foundation of this nation and it says exactly what it says. It is some what difficult to read for simple minded individuals that have a hard time understand the Queens English.
Stupid is as stupid does.
The Constitution is a contract between the people and the Federal Government. Contracts are NOT living documents. They say, and mean, the same things today as the day they were written. Can you go to bank that wrote the loan for your car, and tell them that the contract is living, and doesn't mean the same thing as when it was written? That you should only pay half of the payments, and still get title to the car? At the end of the contract, when you've paid it in full, can the bank just arbitrarily say that this contract specified that they would give you title to the car, but times have changed, social morals have changed, and now they just don't think it's the right thing to do? Only if liberals have their way.
When something tragic or momentous happens and progressives start pointing fingers, one must always remember to consider the source.
I got to be real... why should I care what this guy has got to say and who is this guy?
If Kaplan taught math at USC: 2+2 = 5... because he believes it to be true.
It seems to me that those acting in opposition to The Constitution are the very ones that are "tearing down the government".
The moron referred to in this article provides another example of why the 'education' system needs to have its funding cut, institutions are filled with carbon copies of this guy and we are forced to support their narrow-minded idiot views.
Funding cuts would force these institutions to focus on professional programs and scientific research, not waste money on these 'sociologists' who provide no benefit to society.
Students themselves don't benefit by borrowing thousands of dollars to achieve a run-of-the-mill Arts degree. A handful of exceptional students should study those subjects, but not the thousands that do now.
Absolutely agreed on the funding cuts, Philanthropist, only one problem. If you cut funding to the institution in general, they won't dump these morons. They'll dump even more of the real education. The funding cuts would have to be targeted, by law, at these kinds of idiots, and I just don't see that ever happening.
