Of course, liberals will undoubtedly disagree with Republican leader Mike Pence, because they seem to think it’s the American taxpayers’ responsibility to subsidize friends, foes, strangers, aliens from other planets and even California.
Here’s one of the reasons Pence 2012 bumper stickers are popping up around the country:
“Our country is weary of borrowing and spending and bailouts from Washington, D.C. so the American people deserve to know we are bailing out Greece and future Americans may be picking up the tab for as much as $50 billion in additional loan guarantees for the rest of Europe in the form of a bailout.
“Here’s how it works. The European Union’s members and the IMF recently pledged $145 billion in the Greek bailout. Forty billion dollars of that came from the International Monetary Fund. Since the United States pays 17 percent, we are the largest contributor to the IMF. American taxpayers are on the hook for $6.8 billion in loan guarantees from the IMF and it may just be a down payment.
“The EU this last weekend talked about a $1 trillion bailout plan that could put U.S. taxpayers on the hook for $50 billion in additional loan guarantees to bail out Europe.
“Look, the EU was formed to compete with the U.S.A., economically. It is simply not right to ask the people of the United States of America to provide loan guarantees to bail out an economic competitor in Europe. Nobody wants to see the EU fail, but we are not asking their help in New Jersey or California. They shouldn’t be asking our help with Portugal, Spain, or Greece.”
American taxpayers shouldn’t support Europe’s faild socialist states? Why this Pence person is obviously a right wing wacko.

I'm not trying to pick on Pence, I'm just saying that he's my nominee for the 2010 Mr. Obvious Award.
I am proud to say that Pence is my Representative. There was some scuttlebutt that he would consider running for Bayh's senatorial seat, but he has since said that he would not seek it. I'm really, really hoping that he's gearing up for a run at the White House. He's the brightest light in American politics.
If socialism is so great let them help themselves. What is wrong with that? They are socialist and WANT to remain socialists then let them come up with solution within the socialist parameters, asking a non socialist country (well for now) to help out is hypocritical and completly against their dogma isn't?
Well, not exactly... their dogma states that they have a right to take from those that have to give to those who don't. Then they point to christian values such as charity to justify it. They never seem to realize that charity is when an individual chooses freely to give to one in need and socialism is the taking of private property by force to give to those in need, which is theft and not charity.

Bailing out socialist governments only perpetuates the myth among the people that socialism works. Failed ideas must be allowed to fail. That's the best way of dissuading others from taking up those same failed ideas.
Isn't there a point and time where people stop, and take inventory of what's going on? This country is in shambles, the job market is dead, thousands of people that once worked are reduced to living on welfare, and yet, we're supposed to bail out Greece? Libs, insanity is thy mentality.
I really think we ought to tell the rest of the world "Hey, we got our own issues, and they come first." Then, if there's anything left after we pick ourselves up, we can help others. A generous nation can only be generous so long. I'm sorry Greece is falling apart, but when my neighborhood is falling apart, and I'm unable to afford my own bills, why the hell would I pay someone else's bills?
The problem here is that America has a reputation of helping the underdog or those in need. Something that is both lauded and despised by nations worldwide. Even if nations around the world actually hate America for being so compassionate (envy) and ridicule it at the same time, they would actually expect the US to come through with help and if the US decides to be understandably "selfish" and take care of its own first, then the world would cry that the US being truly selfish and self interested and that our actions of the past were hypocritical and only was due to the fact that we had a surplus and now that we don't have that surplus we don't have the ability to dig deep and be sacrificial and help a brother out. It is sick and it IS insane and I would even say evil for people to have these mentality.
I think post WWII, we sort of became, or elected ourselves as the world police force. Granted, I think it was rightfully so back then, as we had the ability and means to wage a massive war on two fronts, spanning easily 1/3 the globe.
But, times are different now. NATO is basically a toothless dog on a leash, no real power. The old Soviet bloc is pretty much gone (but Putin kinda worries me). Our biggest threat isn't major warfare anymore, but rather terrorism in the name of Islam. You are right, they hate us no matter what we do.
So, screw 'em. We need to help ourselves LONG before we go back to being the world's piggy bank and police force.
It's stupid to send 50 billion to Europe for a bailout. You know why? Does anyone with a brain think Europe would send 2 cents to bail out the USA? No, becuase they hate us. Unless we're giving them 50 billion, then they love us, until 2 seconds after the check is cashed, then they go back to hating us.
Exactly. It is always that way. US comes in to get them out of the grips of Hitler and Nazism... America is awesome. A month later Americans go home. Europe is an awesome continent in the fact that it is beautiful and has a lot of history and what not but the Europeans are pretty sucky people especially the French.
