European Union Votes to Classify Natural Gas and Nuclear as ‘Green Energy’

Nuclear Power Plant

European Union Votes to Classify Natural Gas and Nuclear as ‘Green Energy.’ How long before the liberal-green brain trust in Washington, DC follows suit? Someone send Vlad Putin a thank you note for waking these green boneheads up.

The European Union voted on Wednesday to keep some specific uses of natural gas and nuclear energy in its taxonomy of sustainable sources of energy.

Europe’s taxonomy is its classification system for defining “environmentally sustainable economic activities” for investors, policymakers and companies. This official opinion of the EU matters because it affects funding for projects as the region charts its path to address climate change. In theory, the taxonomy “aims to boost green investments and prevent ‘greenwashing,’” according to the EU’s parliament.

The vote on natural gas and nuclear energy follows one that was passed in February, which amounted to a referendum on what had been a particularly controversial piece of the ruling. Natural gas emits 58.5% as much carbon dioxide as coal, according to the U.S. Energy Information Association. Nuclear power does not generate any emissions, though it draws criticism surrounding the problem of storing radioactive waste.

Eiffel Tower is shrouded by smoke as Paris burns into the night: Iconic landmark shines through choking black pall after Yellow Vest protesters set cars ablaze for the seventh weekend as they call on Macron to go

The streets of Paris have been set ablaze during 'yellow vests' protests in Paris this evening leaving the Eiffel Tower shrouded in thick black smoke, after riot police fired tear gas at crowds earlier today

How long before this happens in the US in places like Washington DC, Sacramento, San Francisco, Oakland, Seattle, Portland, etc.?

The anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD) stole huge amounts of votes off the established political parties in elections in central Germany, while a small neo-Nazi party won 17 percent in one district.

President Obama offers to bail out the Greeks by digging our own hole a little deeper

Obama just offered to borrow communist money we’re unable to repay to give to socialists who are unwilling to repay it.

While the media has busied itself with a Weiner roast, President Obama has quietly been focusing laser-like on the debt crisis. Not ours, the one in Greece.

While not one of the 57 states Obama needs for re-election in 2012, Greece is a “headwind” making his failing economic policies fail.

next-generation-hole
First official photo of the next generation trying to dig themselves out of the hole we dug for them

CNBC has the story:

President Barack Obama on Tuesday urged European countries and bondholders to prevent a “disastrous” default by Greece and pledged U.S. support to help tackle the country’s debt crisis.

Mr. Obama was quoted, “… we have pledged to cooperate fully in working through these issues, both on a bilateral basis but also through international and financial institutions like the IMF.”

Too many nuances there for our taste. Daniel J. Mitchell translates:

The story doesn’t have much detail, but it appears that Obama is willing to brutalize American taxpayers directly (which is what he means by “on a bilateral basis”) and indirectly (i.e., the reference to “international and financial institutions like the IMF”).

Brutalized by the IMF and we’re not even hotel maids. The 48% of us who pay taxes are used to that by now. And the money’s going for a good cause, right?

Another bailout will be a case of throwing good money after bad. And it will exacerbate the.economic damage by delaying the economic reforms that are needed to put Greece’s economy in better shape.

… the other insolvent European welfare states will look at what’s happening in Greece and conclude that they also can avoid necessary reforms and wait for handouts from American and German taxpayers.

Just as we thought.

Pot calls kettle red: EU spends more than $30 million a year pushing socialist schemes in USA

The clowns in Brussels decided to free up a little cash to promote similar success in the United States. And when we say “a little cash” we mean thirty million smackers a year.

The European Union, the political pipedream of one world European socialists, is a joke. It’s falling apart socially and economically. Nevertheless, the clowns in Brussels decided to free up a little cash to promote similar success in the United States. And when we say “a little cash” we mean thirty million smackers a year.

The Daily Mail UK has the story:

european-union
All together now: "We are the world, we are the children..."

The EU Human Rights Fund is intended to help promote Western values in the developing world. But a shock report has found at least £17million of cash – around £2million from British taxpayers’ – has been ploughed into promoting the pet causes of Eurocrats in the U.S.

It is being spent on promoting abolition of the death penalty, discussion of climate change, green energy, and the International Criminal Court – all controversial subjects in the U.S.

The study by the Heritage Foundation, a centre-right Washington think-tank, found a further £4million has been ploughed into pro-EU propaganda in the U.S., including funds for advertising and publicity material.

More than £3million has been funnelled to American universities to promote the benefits of European integration and a further £3million to think-tanks who want to study EU affairs.

The European Commission’s own accounts show millions have also been paid to unnamed individual opinion formers in the U.S.

The report’s British author Sally McNamara said: ‘It is impossible to justify EU human rights budgets being spent in one of the world’s freest nations.’

Tory MP Douglas Carswell said: ‘The U.S. was founded by North Americans fed up with Europeans interfering in its internal affairs.

Just think, if these efforts are successful the United States can look forward to having the freedom of speech of the Dutch, the well-integrated Muslim population of the French, the ingenius political system of the Italians and the economy of the Greeks.

On second thought…

The Eurocrats are at it again. Now they want to ban cars from all European cities.

Eurocrats have decided they can cut CO2 emissions by 60 percent by 2050 by outlawing internal combustion engine cars in all European cities.

Eurocrats is such a perfect name for the nameless, faceless and seemingly senseless bureaucrats who people the European Union. Now these geniuses have decided they can cut CO2 emissions by 60 percent by 2050 by outlawing internal combustion engine cars in all European cities.

bonnie-and-clyde-car
When cars are outlawed, only outlaws will have cars

The Telegraph UK has the story:

The European Commission on Monday unveiled a “single European transport area” aimed at enforcing “a profound shift in transport patterns for passengers” by 2050 …

Top of the EU’s list to cut climate change emissions is a target of “zero” for the number of petrol and diesel-driven cars and lorries in the EU’s future cities.

Siim Kallas, the EU transport commission, insisted that Brussels directives and new taxation of fuel would be used to force people out of their cars and onto “alternative” means of transport.

“That means no more conventionally fuelled cars in our city centres,” he said. “Action will follow, legislation, real action to change behaviour.”

The Association of British Drivers rejected the proposal to ban cars as economically disastrous and as a “crazy” restriction on mobility.

“I suggest that he goes and finds himself a space in the local mental asylum,” said Hugh Bladon, a spokesman for the BDA.

Too late, Hugh. He already works for the European Commission, which may not be a mental asylum, but is virtually indistinguishable from one.

Obama sells out America’s best ally, gives Russia UK’s nuke secrets to get dubious deal

According to newly released information, our Commander in Chief wanted the Russians to sign the dubious START Treaty so badly that he gave them the UK’s nuclear secrets as an incentive.

Thanks to Wikileaks, we’ve finally found someone more traitorous than Wikileaks itself – President Obama.

According to newly released information, our Commander in Chief wanted the Russians to sign the dubious START Treaty so badly that he gave them the UK’s nuclear secrets as an incentive.

trident-missile
The lesson to be learned: America can't be trusted by her friends

The Telegraph UK has the horrifying story:

The US secretly agreed to give the Russians sensitive information on Britain’s nuclear deterrent to persuade them to sign a key treaty, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.

Information about every Trident missile the US supplies to Britain will be given to Russia as part of an arms control deal signed by President Barack Obama next week.

Defence analysts claim the agreement risks undermining Britain’s policy of refusing to confirm the exact size of its nuclear arsenal.

The fact that the Americans used British nuclear secrets as a bargaining chip also sheds new light on the so-called “special relationship”, which is shown often to be a one-sided affair by US diplomatic communications obtained by the WikiLeaks website.

Details of the behind-the-scenes talks are contained in more than 1,400 US embassy cables published to date by the Telegraph, including almost 800 sent from the London Embassy, which are published online today. The documents also show that…

…A series of classified messages sent to Washington by US negotiators show how information on Britain’s nuclear capability was crucial to securing Russia’s support for the “New START” deal.

Although the treaty was not supposed to have any impact on Britain, the leaked cables show that Russia used the talks to demand more information about the UK’s Trident missiles, which are manufactured and maintained in the US.

Washington lobbied London in 2009 for permission to supply Moscow with detailed data about the performance of UK missiles. The UK refused, but the US agreed to hand over the serial numbers of Trident missiles it transfers to Britain.

This is what you call a win-win for Russia and a traitorous-traitorous for everyone else.

British member of European Parliament rants, “Who the hell do you think you are? The Euro game is up!”

The scene is European Parliament in Strasbourg on November 24. Nigel Farage, a member of the European Parliament representing the United Kingdom, is involved in a debate about economic governance when he loses it.

This is classic. Consider it the European equivalent to that moment that moment when Rick Santelli erupted on CNBC and the Tea Party was created.

“We don’t want that flag, we don’t want the anthem, we don’t want this political class. We want the whole thing consigned to the dust bin of history … You are very, very dangerous people indeed. Your obsession with creating this Euro-state means that you’re happy to destroy democracy. You appear to be happy for millions and millions of people to be unemployed and to be poor. Untold millions must suffer so that your Euro-dream can continue ….”

It sounded like about half a dozen people applauded when he was done. That’s more than we would have expected.

Nigel Farage is willing to tell the truth, which won’t get him anywhere in politics.

The New York Times bids a fond farewell to a dear old friend: European socialism

European socialism is dead. Even the New York Times can no longer deny it. Of course, that doesn’t stop the Times from promoting the same failed system here in the United States, but that’s another story.

Stalin believed in cradle-to-grave care, but put added emphasis on the grave part of the equation.

European socialism is dead. Even the New York Times can no longer deny it. Of course, that doesn’t stop the Times from promoting the same failed system here in the United States, but that’s another story.

Across Western Europe, the “lifestyle superpower,” the assumptions and gains of a lifetime are suddenly in doubt. The deficit crisis that threatens the euro has also undermined the sustainability of the European standard of social welfare, built by left-leaning governments since the end of World War II.

Europeans have boasted about their social model, with its generous vacations and early retirements, its national health care systems and extensive welfare benefits, contrasting it with the comparative harshness of American capitalism.

Europeans have benefited from low military spending, protected by NATO and the American nuclear umbrella. They have also translated higher taxes into a cradle-to-grave safety net. “The Europe that protects” is a slogan of the European Union.

But all over Europe governments with big budgets, falling tax revenues and aging populations are experiencing rising deficits, with more bad news ahead.

With low growth, low birthrates and longer life expectancies, Europe can no longer afford its comfortable lifestyle, at least not without a period of austerity and significant changes. The countries are trying to reassure investors by cutting salaries, raising legal retirement ages, increasing work hours and reducing health benefits and pensions.

The most important sentence in that excerpt are, “Europeans have benefited from low military spending, protected by NATO and the American nuclear umbrella.”

Yes, your tax dollars enabled the Europeans to believe the world was a real life Candyland and convinced them they could spend foolishly on unsustainable social folderol.

But the folderol has come home to roost.

Duh! Pence tells House that Americans shouldn’t bail out Europe’s failed socialist states.

Of course, liberals will undoubtedly disagree with Republican leader Mike Pence, because they seem to think it’s the American taxpayers’ responsibility to subsidize friends, foes, strangers, aliens from other planets and even California.

Of course, liberals will undoubtedly disagree with Republican leader Mike Pence, because they seem to think it’s the American taxpayers’ responsibility to subsidize friends, foes, strangers, aliens from other planets and even California.

Here’s one of the reasons Pence 2012 bumper stickers are popping up around the country:

“Our country is weary of borrowing and spending and bailouts from Washington, D.C. so the American people deserve to know we are bailing out Greece and future Americans may be picking up the tab for as much as $50 billion in additional loan guarantees for the rest of Europe in the form of a bailout.

“Here’s how it works. The European Union’s members and the IMF recently pledged $145 billion in the Greek bailout. Forty billion dollars of that came from the International Monetary Fund. Since the United States pays 17 percent, we are the largest contributor to the IMF. American taxpayers are on the hook for $6.8 billion in loan guarantees from the IMF and it may just be a down payment.

“The EU this last weekend talked about a $1 trillion bailout plan that could put U.S. taxpayers on the hook for $50 billion in additional loan guarantees to bail out Europe.

“Look, the EU was formed to compete with the U.S.A., economically. It is simply not right to ask the people of the United States of America to provide loan guarantees to bail out an economic competitor in Europe. Nobody wants to see the EU fail, but we are not asking their help in New Jersey or California. They shouldn’t be asking our help with Portugal, Spain, or Greece.”

American taxpayers shouldn’t support Europe’s faild socialist states? Why this Pence person is obviously a right wing wacko.

Paul Ryan sums it up: “What we’re seeing is the failure of European socialism and the social welfare states”

Damn, we love this guy. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) guested on Up Front with Mike Gousha this weekend. Here’s what he had to say about the Greek meltdown and the ongoing European financial crisis.

Damn, we love this guy.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) guested on Up Front with Mike Gousha this weekend. Here’s what he had to say about the Greek meltdown and the ongoing European financial crisis:

“I am enormously concerned. First of all, Greek contagion can spread to some of these other countries like you said. What this basically is… It is so ironic coming from the cradle of Western Civilization. What we are seeing is the failure of European socialism and social welfare states. What is basically happening here is this sovereign debt crisis could come over and spread to us. We’ve got to make sure we put in the right kind of fiscal controls, the right kind of balancing to prevent this from happening. Because what’s happening is the markets are questioning the viablility of sovereign debt. The markets are questioning whether or not governments are going to be able to live up to all the promises and debt that they have racked up… Sooner or later you run out of spending other people’s money with welfare states.”

Ryan 2012. Or maybe Ryan 2016.

Get the bumper stickers ready.

Now this is what the ObamaCare summit should have sounded like

All that phony civility on display at the ObamaCare Summit was boring. And horribly insincere. Here’s how it should have looked and sounded. It doesn’t look like European MP Nigel Farage cares much for the Belgian President of the European Parliament.

It doesn’t look like European MP Nigel Farage cares much for the Belgian President of the European Parliament.

“…I don’t want to be rude – but, you know, really, you have the charisma of a damp rag and the appearance of a low-grade bank clerk. And the question that I want to ask … the question that I want to ask is: Who are you? I’d never heard of you. Nobody in Europe has ever heard of you. I would like to ask you, president, who voted for you?”

And it goes downhill from there.

Eurocrats spend $272,000 to portray themselves as comic book heroes

Bureaucrats in the European Union have blown through $272,000 to create and distribute a comic book graphic novel in which they are portrayed as larger than life heroes.

What took the Eurocrats so long? We had an Obama-as-super-hero comic a year ago.

Consider this an omen of things to come in America. Bureaucrats in the European Union have blown through $272,000 to create and distribute a comic book graphic novel in which they are portrayed as larger than life heroes.

The Telegraph UK reports the super good news:

“… European Commission officials have had their revenge – by producing a lavish comic book portraying themselves as heroes battling to save the world.

More than 300,000 copies of the glossy hardback–printed in five languages at a cost of £200,000–are being sent to homes and schools in the UK and across the Continent.

The graphic novel follows the ‘adventures’ of Zana, Max et al at the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid Department – known as ECHO – as they struggle to secure funding for the fictional sate of Borduvia, which has been devastated by an earthquake.

Written by a Belgian graphic novelist Erik Bongers, Hidden … contains such immortal dialogue as: “We must inform the Commissioner! She’s briefing the European Parliament on the earthquake tomorrow.”

The book’s heroine Zana, a feisty, beautiful aid worker whose uniform consists of a safari jacket with the European Union flag emblazoned upon it, is then dispatched to Borduvia by bearded and besuited bureaucrats to sort out the humanitarian crisis.

Of course, Obama-as-super-hero comics have already been produced, but only by actual profit-making companies. Look for those firms to be among the last American companies to be nationalized by the Obama administration.

Our favorite European politician describes the horrors of European healthcare

European Member of Parliament Daniel Hannan appeared on the Glenn Beck Show last week and told the sad plight of European-style single payer healthcare.

You may recall Daniel Hannan, the European Member of Parliament who delivered a blistering (and hilarious) speech condemning British Prime Minister Gordon Brown a few months ago.

Hannan appeared on the Glenn Beck Show last week and told the sad plight of European-style single payer healthcare.

If you support ObamaCare, you need to hear what Hannan has to say.

If you don’t support ObamaCare, same instructions.

Why we celebrate Memorial Day. And why we apologize to no one.

Our American troops sacrificed everything for freedom and never felt it necessary to deliver any apology speeches. That, apparently, is President Obama’s job.

Some of our country’s greatest accomplishments have been saving Europe from tyranny in two world wars. Here, as a tribute to our fallen soldiers, are twenty European cemeteries dedicated to American soldiers who gave their lives so that freedom could live. Just take it in and contemplate what they did.

Western civilization: Doomed by demographics

Here at IHateTheMedia.com, we always think our glass is half full. We’re positive thinkers. We have sunny dispositions and smiles on our faces. We can’t wait to get up every morning so we can start enjoying another fabulous day.

Then we watched this video showing the growth of Islamic culture and the declining populations of western civilization. It scared the hell out of us.

It’s important to via by email or social networks.

37% say U.S. has been arrogant and dismissive of Europe. We say, “Who cares?”

22% of Americans want us to be more like Europe. We'll pass.
22% of Americans want us to be more like Europe. We'll pass.
Rasmussen Reports conducts some interesting surveys. One of their new national telephone surveys shows that 37% “of American voters agree that in dealing with its European allies over the years, the United States has shown arrogance, been dismissive, and even derisive.”

Luckily, the same survey found that 47% disagree with that statement. 16% are not sure. (We suspect that the answer to this question is not all they’re unsure of.)

The best part of the survey is that 54% of American voters think the world would be better off if Europe became more like the United States. 22% think the world would better off it we became more like Europe.

If that 22% is talking about topless beaches, we’re with ’em. But if they’re talking about lederhosen, forget it.

Times of London reports on Michelle Obama’s “falsies”

michelle_falsies There are subtle differences between American English and English English. (More significant differences, apparently, than the subtle differences only President Obama has picked up between German and Austrian.)

That being said, The Times of London has reported on Michelle Obama’s “falsies.” Consider it more evidence of England’s Obama burn-out:

I know, you’re fed up with reading about Michelle Obama. But let me just tempt you towards one last, tiny detail: the First Lady’s falsies. Michelle Obama is normally so natural looking, it’s surprising to find something about her that is so unapologetically fake.

Those eyelashes weren’t even trying to look real.

No, they were full-on, all-out diva lashes, the kind you normally find on D-list celebrities or in drag-act dressing rooms. The allure of the long lash is well-documented. They define and sexualise the gaze, making the eyes appear bigger (and therefore younger). Gazing up at someone through luscious lashes is considered an act of seduction; it’s even entered the vernacular: “you batted your eyelashes at him.”

Given that Mrs Obama’s intention was to seduce Europe, she chose those lashes well, making no attempt to conceal the artifice. She did not, for example, opt for lash extensions which give the most natural finish. These are bonded to the wearer’s own lashes, a painstaking process that nevertheless yields fantastic results. You can choose various degrees of amplification, from just a few extra lashes to a full-on fan. Suzie Lung (tel 07957 771503) does a mean set, or try Vaishaly (020-7224 6088).

London Telegraph on Obama: Isn’t it time for him to go home yet?

Uh-oh. The Brits are not true believers.
Uh-oh. The Brits are not true believers.
Rahm Emanuel better start including the London newspapers in his daily phone calls to the media. They’ve been brutal in their assessment of the Obamassiah’s European performance.

Like this, for example, from the London Telegraph:

Barack Obama really does go on a bit

Isn’t it time for him to go home yet? It is good, in theory, that the new President of the United States is taking so much time to tour Europe…But his long stay means that we are hearing rather a lot from him, way too much in fact.

His speeches have long under-delivered, usually leaving a faintly empty sensation in this listener even though I welcomed, moderately, his victory last year as offering the possibility of a fresh start and a boost to confidence.

The Telegraph continued:

His performance at the first press conference in London with Gordon Brown featured moments in which he sparkled – his riff on loving the Queen was a high-point. But most of the serious answers that I listened to were interminable, windy and not very impressive. At points there were pauses so long that it appeared he had simply lost his train of thought.

Today, we were treated to another set-piece Obama speech, and my didn’t he go on a bit? The crowd in Prague was huge, and initially wildly enthusiastic, but what he served up was not any more impressive than his damp squib in Berlin last year…

The Telegraph concluded with this stinging assessment:

The Obamas have handled their trip well and in their public appearances have been a credit to their country. But I’ll wager that within a year or so he’ll be marked down as a wind-bag.

We were surprised to learn that President Obama delivered damp squib in Berlin last year. Perhaps that’s why the Brits are upset. They only got some DVDs and iPods.

Europe’s euphoria for Obama cooling

Shock! Horror! Disappointment! The Obamessiah is not who the Europeans thought he was.
Shock! Horror! Disappointment! The Obamessiah is not who the Europeans thought he was.
Barack Obama’s inauguration was held January 21 in Washington, DC. But his coronation was held in Germany way back on July 24, 2008 in Berlin. Now the Europeans’ Obamamania may be cooling.

Here’s how the German magazine Der Spiegel puts it:

Europe was ecstatic when Barack Obama got elected, but the enthusiasm has dampened since he took office in January. On the eve of his first visit to Europe as president, some here are wondering how seriously he takes the Continent.

The Der Spiegel article continued:

When Obama arrives in London on Tuesday for the start of his one-week visit to Europe, he’ll come as a friend, but as one who is still in some ways a stranger. Europe backed his election campaign more enthusiastically than most other parts of the world. But the White House has been too preoccupied coping with domestic crises to devote much attention to this region in the first two months of Obama’s presidency.

And later:

Still, the Obama skeptics in Europe are having a field day. “The notion that Europe is going to rally around this administration is being exploded,” Nile Gardiner, director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at the Heritage Foundation, told the Washington Post. Indeed, a feeling of skepticism regarding Obama’s new Afghanistan strategy and his proposals for solving the financial crisis has been making itself felt.

Hillary Clinton read the Der Spiegel article and said, “No problem, Barack. Just take ‘em another one of those reset buttons. They really love those things over there.”

“The devalued Prime Minister of a devalued government.” Sounds eerily familiar.

Looks like Daniel Hannan is Great Britain’s answer to Thaddeus McCotter, our favorite congressman.

Here’s a speech the MEP from South East England delivered during British Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s appearance before the European Parliament.

Hmmmm. When he says the word “Prime Minister” and “Great Britain” pretend he’s saying “President” and “United States” and it all makes sense. In a terrifying sort of way.

Hillary makes mistakes, Reuters makes excuses

Hillary Clinton
The media searches for Republican gaffes, but searches for excuses for Hillary's gaffes.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton got off to a rocky start in Europe yesterday when she mispronounced the names of her European counterparts and then followed that up by re-writing history.

But never fear. Reuters excused the accident prone Secretary of State’s gaffes with these two paragraphs:

“Clinton has set herself a grueling pace on visits to Egypt, Israel and Brussels soon after touring the Far East, attending dozens of meetings and giving speech after speech, with little time worked into her schedule for sleep.”

“Tiredness appeared to show Friday when she answered questions in front of 500 young Europeans at the European Parliament…”
