• Neither voted for, nor care for President Obama.
  But I refuse to perpetuate false stories because I always try to be honest.
  I was shocked by yesterday's headline & after some research found Tapper's (mis?lol) clarification. So I requested the editor's pull the story since it was completely false. I prefer to be able to share links with people and have them know that what I am sharing is most likely factual. You start forwarding all those false stories simply because you hope to destroy someone else & you end up destroying your own credibility. You are your word & if no one believes it???
  I was glad to see the editor's update, & then update the update. This is a great site & I didn't want it looked upon in a negative light.

  • Thanks, KG. Fact is, as someone said earlier in this thread, the story was just so damned easy to believe considering some of Obama's past actions (i.e., not putting his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance, removing is American flag lapel pin, etc.).

    Unlike the Obama administration, we're always happy to correct our mistakes. Well, unless it gets in the way of a good laugh, that is.

• Malkin's first article posted was "Just wondering: Why was the American Flag removed from Ground Zero." She based her article on a tweet Tapper wrote at 6:30 PM. In the picture Malkin used for her post you can see "they" are removing the flag - the crane and workers. You can see that the thousands of people that were there much earlier in the day are gone. You can tell by the shadows on the building the it was taken at the end of the day and not the beginning. The ceremony was carried Live and the flag was very much in sight. Pictures of the event with the flag were all over the internet.
  Malkin didn't defend the President. Were you joking?
  Malkin updated her false article with a phony apology and she also removed remarks she had posted earlier.
  The conservatives weren't defending the President and Tapper wasn't dinging the President.
  The day at Ground Zero was to pay respect to the victims and their families. The conservatives should be ashamed of what they tried to do.

• No surprise this America hating shitbird would do that. he wouldn't want to ruin his record of batting .1000 where hating the country he is the President of is concerned. What is a story here is that no one had the stones to say phuch you barry, we are putting the flag back up-it has flown here since 9/11 and no America hating islamo-fascist is going to take it down.

  • matthew s harrison: Where can you go and live where so called writers can lie about their President? That's the freedom of the Press that we enjoy. Lies on TV, radio and press. We live in the greatest country. We just need to get our own facts and not believe everything we read or hear.
    If you have a young child ask him or her what happens to the flag in the evening. Most children know that the American Flag is taken down and put up the next day. It happens at their school ever day. It's the law. That is what the crane and the workers are doing. They are taking the American Flag down about 6:30 PM hours after the Ground Zero event.
    Ask a small child about the shadows in the picture with the American Flag and the tall buildings. Some children have learned to tell time by the length of the shadows. The shadows in the picture indicates that it is towards evening not morning.
    Is there a large crowd in the picture. No. Tappers tweet was at 6:30 pm. Hours after the event at Ground Zero.
    The event was life and carried on TV and the American Flag was very visible. There are many still pictures of the flag visible on the internet.

• Obama is a lot of things, however, he is certainly not a suicidal person. He I am sure would know that sucha thing would get out. I cannot believe that Obama would be THAT stupid.

  • hisham: Many Americans can now do their own fact checking. This false story was so pathetic a young child could see the holes in it.
    The group of people who believed this lie/story already dislike the President. They didn't like him in 2008 and they didn't vote for him. But he win anyway. This is something that is very hard for some to accept.
    False stories written to taint the President as dumb as this one are not going to gain the respect of the voting public. If anything some could decide that it's part of the party that no longer represents them as they walk away.
    Being desperate enough to take the ceremony at Ground Zero and to twist the facts just to try to destroy the President with words showed a total lack of concern for the real purpose of the day. The purpose was to provide some comfort to the families of the 9/11 victims.
    The conservatives used the Ground Zero event to dig and find a speck, in this case the smallest speck of a tweet to build a lie to taint the President. Unfortunately the conservatives also found a willing audience for their made up lie story.
    Yes, I think God found this lie/false story offensive.

      • No, OP didn't have the disclaimer up originally. I would estimate that went up sometime after KG insisted the story be taken down. I saw Malkin's retraction yesterday--even then it was probably a day old. The headlines were hard to swallow IMHO
