Pakistan blocks anti-Islamic sites. To that, we say screw you and the camel you rode in on, Muhammad.

Muhammad Cartoon for Pakistan

IHateTheMedia.com is not an anti-Islamic site. Not even close. Sure, we occasionally run stories on Islamic extremists and lunacy they engage in around the world, but that’s just reporting reality.

That being said, we would consider it an honor to be monitored and blocked by Pakistan’s Islamic extremists. It would be, perhaps, the highest honor that can be bestowed in the blogosphere.

The Associated Press reports on Pakistan’s preemptory perfidy:

Pakistan will monitor seven major websites, including Google and Yahoo, to block anti-Islamic links and content, an official said Friday. Seventeen lesser-known sites are being blocked outright for alleged blasphemous material.

The moves follow Pakistan’s temporary ban imposed on Facebook in May that drew both praise and condemnation in a country that has long struggled to figure out how strict a version of Islam it should follow.

Both the Facebook ban and the move announced Friday were in response to court orders. The sites to be monitored include those of Yahoo Inc., Google Inc. and its YouTube service, Amazon.com Inc. and MSN, Hotmail and Bing from Microsoft Corp., said Pakistan Telecommunication Authority spokesman Khurram Mehran.

“If any particular link with offensive content appears on these websites, the (link) shall be blocked immediately without disturbing the main website,” Mehran said.

Have we mentioned that Muhammad was a child molester?

  • Please remain informed that this our Great & beloved Prophet of ours was subjected to tremendous criticism & humiliation during his life time, so much so he was forced to migrate from his home town of makah. But what were the subsequent results.Islam reached to every corner of the world & muslims love their
prophet the most, more than their everything. We don't mind what enemies of muslims say or write about our relegion or our prophet or saints, this will only measure the lunacy of those writers.Muslim intellectuals do mark such hatred against islam with concern. We will only pray that the writers who write such blasphemous stuff against the messengers of God should become wiser & should realize by writing such disheartening content ,what service is being rendered by them.We believe they are crazy about the might usa & its european allies have attained in the unipolar world of today. This is for sure nothing before God's power. We should remember history has adored men like Lincoln, Cromewel,M.Luther King, Gandhi and not the despots like Hitler who had so much of power. Let healthy senses prevail upon these writers & stop contributing to hate writings.Give peace in our times,O: Lord.

    • Oh, great. Another Muslim loon. Go peddle that crap on a different corner, buddy. We're not buying it here.

      • yes i agree with you and yes muslims say that not all are the same there was a muslim man that said that there are no extreme muslims there are non practicing muslims so in other words the muslims that are not extreme are not muslims at all

  • Many Islamic schools here in the west are using halagate software to block urls that are considered as anti-Islamic or they feel do promote doctrines that are contrary to Muslim values. like gay sites, dating sites and such. they proclaim halal-internet is the goal. an internet tailored to Muslim community.

    • Arabs are people from certain parts of the world, Sam. And I happen to know personally a number of people from that part of the world who are good people. They came here to Southern California to escape exactly what we are talking about here. Because of their Christian faith, they were in fear of their lives because of the power that Islam has in their home countries. So, I agree with your sentiments towards Pakistan and Islam, but there are good people in all nationalities, and we should respect all good people.

  • I agree. And that is exactly how it is. Muhammad's character is open to debate, to criticism and discussion. But the images above are anything but that.

    • Perhaps Muhammod was a great leader. Afterall, he was a murderer, thief, drunk, plagarist and pedifile. All these qualities make for great leadership in the muslim world.

  • check this site. they are selling a software halalgate to block all anti islamic sites. including facebook myspace youtube chat gay sites etc etc etc. they just allow sites that are compliant with islamic beliefs and values. the rest of sites will be beheaded. someone who is using it says "halalgate make the internet the way it should be" and he claim he is a christian but he loves it. go figure

  • Considering the many things that Pakistan should be blocking (camel porn ewww) these people are not just hypocritical but disgusting as well.

  • i m using switchvpn to bypass the restriction very good speed and i am able to access all websites its not free though but its worth it.their vpn starts from $4.95

    switchvpn[dot]com

  • Fundamentalists are morons. Very true. But this is a breed sadly not just limited to Muslims. Jews, Christians and Buddhists, Hindus etc all have extremist factions embedded in their rank and file. I spent 3 years working in Tel Aviv and realized one thing and one thing alone. Blowing up people (Jan) and throwing insults at people (editor) wont resolve anything. 'Jan' you can't take the moral high by preaching respect for religion. It doesn't work that way. Walk the talk pal. Editor, I love this site dude and Ive always thought it made a rational call to my mind... almost everytime. However Im surprised some 'moron' sitting in some office in Pakistan decides to police what goes in and goes out of his country and IHTM falls for it !

    • Religion is not the problem. Fundamentalist are not the problem, either. Radicalism is. Those that chose to be radical, no matter what religion they subscribe to, is an enemy of rational thought. As such they deserve no consideration, but only ridicule. Jan (and Pakistan's radical element) is an icon of radicalism and a natural target of vehement and deserved ridicule. The editor, on the other hand, is only using this forum as a conduit to show the ridiculousness of radicalism

      • I have no reason to disagree with you. Albeit I do think we differ in the way we look at this.

If you would permit me Thallus ... Radicalism by definition is a desire to see change in society, which is rampant everywhere in the world where change is seen as an epitome of progress. So Radicalism is not essentially characteristically Religious in nature. This is why I agree with you and I do think unless there are radical elements in a society, there will be indifference. Case in point. Obama. Green Peace. et cetera. So Radicals only seem the enemy of rational thought because we are programmed to ‘not’ accept certain things. Remember when we started calling french fries "Freedom Fries" !! I am embarrassed to admit my government did things it did. It invaded countries and toppled governments. Massacred millions. Hiroshima. However I still dont agree with the post 9/11 NWO. Its a sad mad world today and we, the US should have given it a little more thought before flexing our muscles. After all, we are the most powerful nation on the planet. Ask anyone, are we safer today ? No. We should have listened to our allies.

        I digress.

Fundamentalism however is interpretation of contemporary society through a religious prism. He is someone who takes his sacred text in a literal, non-metaphorical manner. A flawed logic indeed. Now these are present everywhere and only an internal accountability and discourse will quell this breed.

As far as IHTM being used as a conduit is concerned, traditionally editors edit and not contribute. I do believe it is wrong on many levels since to start off with , it makes IHTM a biased source of media. And I see many low ratings for Jan which he/she deserves for the filth spewed forth. So there will be many here who will comment and express themselves. And protect our ‘way of life’ so to speak.

Oh and ridicule is a form of extremism . So says the great Noam Chomsky. Is it not extremism that IHTM will post an image which is clearly offensive to a religion, and then proceed to ridicule its followers. I am afraid we are not the great nation we once used to be. And we deliberately did this to ourselves when we didn’t question the legality of a war waged for oil. We should have. We still can. And If we don’t, we will fail our generations to come. To be great again, we need to listen again. If we don’t ‘communicate’ with the likes of Jan, we will never see anything but orange alert.
