Remember that time long ago and far away when Presidents had balls?

Ronald Reagan Day, celebrated every year by standing up to our enemies in the morning and by firing union scum in the afternoon

What a remarkable difference between Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan.

While Barack Obama issued a timid statement on Libya that never quite got around to mentioning the dictator by name, Reagan had no problem saying exactly what he thought of Gaddafi. Need proof? Here’s a White House press conference from the 1980s where Ronaldus Magnus makes it all very clear:

“Well, we know that this mad dog of the Middle East has a goal of a world revolution, Muslim fundamentalist revolution, which is targeted on many of his own Arab compatriots.”

The other cool thing about this clip is seeing Helen Thomas squatting in the front row, 30 years younger, but surely as vile as she is today. Reagan’s condemnation of an Arab leader must have damn near given her a heart attack. And wouldn’t the world be better off today if they had?

  • It almost seems unfair that he is dead and that she is alive.

I have said it once and I will say it again. It may be another name that is most appropriate, however he as far as I am concerned was a prophet. Even decades before this he just KNEW that something like Obama and his Obamacare would take over if people did not pay attention. It is amazing.

    • You don't need foresight to see the narcissistic hippie generation would grow up to bring some douche like Obama to power.

p.s. go checkout a documentary called "Generation Zero"

Touches many of the political and socio-economic forces behind where we are today.

  • I remember this like it was yesterday! I had just recently re-enlisted in the Army and at the time was stationed at Ft. Meade, Maryland and was getting ready to transfer to an intelligence site in Greece of all places! The trouble in Lebanon was heating up and the same rent-a-mob mobs you see in the Arab streets today were in the streets then...Ahhhh, it was a good time to be...well, I digress. Just had some pleasant old-timers flights of fancy, when men were men, women were women, and presidents had stones!

  • I used to sell some machines into India, Pakistan, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, etc in the late eighties. The owner of the company told me that when negotiating with these people you could not show weakness, only strength. He called it a Mediterranean attitude. He said strength was all they understood or respected. If you showed weakness, you might not get the sale and if you did it would be steeply discounted.

The ME leaders have seen nothing but weakness and have ZERO respect for the jug earred Kenyan and by extension the USA. This will not turn out well, we will not enjoy it, and it will last a long time.

  • I remember the times very well. I had moved to Arizona, due to the actions of our Goobernor, Toney Annoya, there were no jobs in New Mexico, and all the talk was about how President Reagan did not back down, did not wiffle-waffle around, he sent ships and aircraft in to bomb the crap out of him and his sorry country. Anyone notice how quiet the Murrmerer has been the last 25 years?

  • I remember this - sort of. Being a kid at the time, I didn't exactly pay attention to the details. However I do remember when the USA bombed the crap out of Libya.

That takes juevos and the current President is, unfortunately, a enuch.
