The Associated Press reports that insurance premiums will jump by 17% for young adults under ObamaCare. But AP has, we think, under-calculated the real increase.
Considering that young adults commonly go without insurance and then considering the fact that ObamaCare will now force them to buy insurance they don’t want, it seems to us that a more accurate description of the premium increase would be 117%.
The Associated Press reports the premium prognostication:
Under the health care overhaul, young adults who buy their own insurance will carry a heavier burden of the medical costs of older Americans — a shift expected to raise insurance premiums for young people when the plan takes full effect.
Beginning in 2014, most Americans will be required to buy insurance or pay a tax penalty. That’s when premiums for young adults seeking coverage on the individual market would likely climb by 17 percent on average, or roughly $42 a month, according to an analysis of the plan conducted for The Associated Press. The analysis did not factor in tax credits to help offset the increase.
The higher costs will pinch many people in their 20s and early 30s who are struggling to start or advance their careers with the highest unemployment rate in 26 years.
So welcome aboard the ObamaCare Express, young Americans. You voted for the guy and now you’ll be forced to pay more for a service you don’t want and can’t afford.
Ahhh, the glories of socialism.

I am 30. I was having a talk with two pals of mine who are each 24 and 25. They are fun guys and good friends but they are not always on top of what is taking place in real life.
"Obama is not going to make me get anything. Obamacare is there if I want it. That is how I understand it." said my one buddy.
After some talking and pulling up a website on the old Crackberry I showed him that he DOES have to buy it in a few short years. Like this was now news to me friend! LMAO!
"Why would Obama trick us like that?" Gee, the corrupt dishonest SOB would do something less then honest that is also corrupt? Who knew?!
Anyway... Funny thing is that even many on the Left are against this push but for different reasons then those on the Right (or Libertarians) oppose it.

Way to piss off even the left Dems!
I have insurance (like 80% of America does already! Dems and the scare tactic that so many don't have it) and I don't care for it (for my own reasons- there are many good things about western medicine and much crap) nor the system is pushes. In case of a car wreck: Nice to have. The other 99% of life... Nah!
My views and my choice. I won't tell you how to live (do as you will), I don't want the Gov, or others, to tell me how to live.
My personal stance aside, forcing people to buy coverage is flat wrong! At the State level I think that it is incorrect- at the Federal level it is ridiculous!
Expect there to be less money for video games, iTunes, new ringtones and oh- for other REAL expenses and wants that people (old and young) have.
This will cut into the already boned economy in a way not yet accounted for. Less money to spend... Not good. Not good at all for this 'social progress' that the Dems are pushing. Then again they are pushing for things to move in the opposite direction of what is positive and worthwhile.
When you can't chose how to spend your money or not- that is a big violation of government power crossing into personal lives of citizens. Its all talk until 2014 (unless its undone by then- and I think it will be) when the youth feel the backlash of what they chose hit home. Cause and effect... Not just the youth though; Barry spreads the s*it all over.
A life lesson in the making for some starry eyed Obama fans? Sure...

Don't look at me. I'm 19 and I didn't vote for him. And I'll go to prison before I buy into Obamacare.
Excuse me... I didn't vote for the guy. That is a gross generalization. Not all young people are stupid like that. I don't have insurance because my employer does not offer it, is true, however, even so I do not want insurance because I need to be able to use my money the way I want to use it. Is it perhaps reckless for me to not have insurance? Perhaps it is, but it is my choice. It doesn't affect anyone else. If I need to go to the doctor I take the money that I make and find one and pay him or her to do what he or she needs to do. I many cases, in most actually, the doctor and I can come to an understanding on pricing. It is actually for many docs preferable to deal with me personally and get cash than to have to do paperwork for insurance. Usually insurance is an hindrance more than anything and in many cases when I did have it I ended up paying anyway so why bother?
With all of that said it is necessary to have health care reform, but not like this where I AM FORCED to get it and if I don't want to or cannot afford it then I have to get the socialist version by the government... that sucks big time.
its ok though, its all for the better of the country, the economy will prosper. it'll be like christmas, we'll all get our checks, pay our bills and we'll be fine... *nose grows 2 feet*
