Army covered up failures of faulty rifle for more than a decade

U.S. Army covered up failures of faulty rifle for more than a decade. As if it’s not bad enough sending men over there with rules of engagement so restrictive they can’t do their jobs, we also give them a rifle that jams as soon as they’re in a firefight. The money quote:

“Why does the world’s greatest superpower have less capable small arms than the enemy? For whatever reasons, we are perfectly happy to give soldiers and Marines crappy small arms and not pay any attention to it.”

American media blacks out Snowden interview

American media blacks out Snowden interview. On Sunday there was a major political event in the rest of the world: NSA contractor Edward Snowden sat down for an interview with a German television network. No one covered the event in the U.S. and YouTube keeps taking down the video as fast as it’s posted. Welcome to the (Dis) Information Age.

New Fatwa warns Muslims not to go live on Mars

Mars.jpg
New Fatwa warns Muslims not to go live on Mars. The General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowment in the United Arab Emirates says the trip is so dangerous it’s suicidal and people who commit suicide do not fare well in the hereafter. Meanwhile, of course, while these religious geniuses ponder and pontificate about Mars, nary a day passes without some idiot Muslim killing himself with a suicide bomb somewhere.

Heavy winter snows revive U.S. interest in Skijoring

Skijoring.jpg
Heavy winter snows revive U.S. interest in Skijoring. A demonstration sport in the 1928 Winter Olympics that fell out of favor, Skijoring involves being pulled by an animal (any animal) while wearing skis, slaloming through gates at 40 mph while plucking rings as you pass, and going over jumps. Hey, it doesn’t sound any more ridiculous than ice dancing or curling.

Bill Nye the (anti-) Science Guy can’t tell South Pole from North Pole

BillNye.jpg
Bill Nye the (anti-) Science Guy can’t tell South Pole from North Pole. Bill Nye as defender of the Global Warming scam is the best friend skeptics have. This time, on NBC’s Meet the Press, he held up a picture of the Arctic and asked, “‘Would you say that the Antarctic has less ice than it used to?”

Ninth grade biology class question

Ninth grade biology class question: “Who’s the baby daddy?”

“The sister of the mom above also had issues with finding out who the father of her baby was. She had the state take a blood test of potential fathers. Based on the information in this table, why was the baby taken away by the state after the test?”

Possibilities listed in the table included the cable guy, a bartender, the mailman, a cab driver, or some guy she met at a club. So at least she narrowed it down.

Honoring President Alexander Hamilton

US10DollarBill.jpg
Honoring President Alexander Hamilton:.

“Starting tomorrow, Groupon will be kicking off Presidents Day weekend by giving customers 10 dollars off 40 dollars… The $10 bill, as everyone knows, features President Alexander Hamilton – undeniably one of our greatest presidents…”

It’s been a discouraging week. Federal judges confusing the Declaration of Independence with the Constitution, a survey that says 25% of Americans don’t know the planet circles the sun, Republicans giving Obama a blank check… and now this.

A disturbing discovery by researchers

CrocodileInTree.jpg
A disturbing discovery by researchers. Look closely at the photo. Yes, that’s an American alligator about ten feet over the water, up in a tree. It turns out crocodiles and alligators can climb trees – something residents who live near the critters all around the world have been trying to tell the “experts” for years.

When stupid people are federal judges

ArendaWrightAllen.jpg
When stupid people are federal judges… they end up looking silly. Judge Arenda Wright Allen ruled Virginia’s ban on same-sex marriages unconstitutional today, on Valentine’s Day, and made a fool of herself with the first sentence of the second paragraph of her ruling:

“Our Constitution declares that ‘all men’ are created equal. Surely this means all of us…”

One would think a judge ruling on constitutionality would actually be familiar with the Constitution. Can you guess which president appointed this ninny?
