Eugene is a hate-free zone. And also an irony free zone.

Sarah Palin gave a speech in Eugene, Oregon a couple days ago and was greeted by the city’s official welcoming committee.

As you can see, the pink sign in the foreground indicates that Eugene is a hate free zone. The sign directly behind it proves that it’s an irony free zone.

Notice that the pink sign is in the shape of a hand. A hand, get it. It’s supposed to be like notes written on the palm of a hand. Hahahahahahaha. Oh, god, that sophisticated left wing wit just cracks us up.

The editor of IHateTheMedia.com is a graduate of the University of Oregon (yeah, that journalism degree is really paying off now). He assures us that Eugene was full of left wing lunatics when he lived there and that it’s even worse now.

Screw you, Gene. (See, that was a clever way of saying Screw Eugene. Those lefty protestors aren’t the only ones who understand how to use that sophisticated wit stuff).

  • First off: That sign is taken out of context. Many read "Hate Free Zone" as meaning that it announces a set boundary area in which there is absence of any form of hatred or in which hate is not allowed to be expressed. This is not the correct Liberal reading. The sign would better be understood if it was fashioned thus: "Hate: Free Zone"!

That is a zone when all can freely spew hate! A zone of free action for all manners relating to hate and hating; a zone set aside for the use of hate. Hey, that view is the only way the picture shows and congruency with the various images.

"Hope She Chokes"? That had the Obama logo? That could only mean... That sign holder was making a threat toward Michelle Obama, wife of the man who that logo represents! Wait... I dd not hear any CNN/MSNBC crap about the 'nasty' tone at that protest and about the vicious crowd and its 'going too far' threats! How could that be?

If its directed at Palin it gets a pass from the media spotlight I guess.

That 'choke' sign was not a threat at all. It was simply advertising the Chuck Palahniuk book in contrast to Palin's own best seller. Right?

Or... It was saying, again since it had the Barry Obama logo, that all you will get with Obamacare is the Heimlich Maneuver and some used dental floss as your 'coverage' (total price tag- $430K for the tax payers to soak up) with that plan. Assuming that you qualify of course by first choking.

I bet that liberal party crasher "IMA Teabagger" from Boston was out there too! Good old Ima...

Eugene, OR might be a self professed 'hate free' zone but I saw no protester holding up a sign that read "Stupidity Free Zone" There are laws against false advertising after all...

    • Great Points JPT! You have nailed it, OOPS! Did I just hate on some progressive haters? Did I just threaten to "Nail Them" to the proverbial wall? I better not say that I have to "Reload my Nail Gun"...

No! What I did was use a "Figure of Speech or Pun"... Liberals, that's when you use a phrase that means two different things but just sounds better than Sarah saying "We have to regroup, restart, gather our strengths, martial our allies", etc... .

The deployment of euphemisms and figures of speech are a central aspect within the public application of political correctness. Conservatives can't even do that right it seems. PC is SO HARD!!!

  • The left runs the same predictable script day in and day out. Speech of any sort from the right is, well, hate speech unless it’s their hate speech. Intolerance is intolerable unless, of course, it’s their intolerance. The left lives in an up-side-down world where diversity and political dissent, whenever it’s not their own, are inexorably racist. It’s a world where a hard worker living better than a leftist is a sign of social injustice. If the leftist is living better than his neighbor, he’ll blame the evil of corporate America for holding down his neighbor. Wealth is evil except when it’s their wealth. More government is good even as it sells the future generations down the toilet, but bad when used to protect our national interests.

The typical leftist is a confused and convoluted hypocrite incapable of functioning in the real world; one in constant need to surround him/herself with like-minded mental contortionists; one incapable of living at all without being enabled by a political party that prostitutes itself for his/her vote.

  • Good post! Looks like a bunch of Birkenstock-wearing, granola-crunching nerds in Eugene. They were lucky to get a visit from superstar celebrity Sarah Palin.

  • I, too, am a Grad student and instructor at the U of O. I suppose one sees hatred where they choose to. Eugene is about the least hate filled city I've ever lived in. There were a couple of signs at the protest that were over the top. There always are (BTW, I'm the one holding the 'Hopey Changey working just fine, you betcha' sign in the background).

Compare this speech with the inflammatory rhetoric about 'reloading' that Sarah Palin is using then go visit a conservative political website (like this one apparently) and then come talk to me about hate speech. Irony? The name of this site is "I HATE the Media"

The really funny thing is that Ms. Palin wags the media to bilk the conservative movement out of $12 million and she isn't even a political candidate. Gotta love her, though. She's driving the Republican party to it's destruction almost single handedly.

    • What other places have you lived, Shangri-La and Lollipop Land? You are in a daze Mr. Universe and, oh and by the way, I am not a Grad student as your post presumes, and I may sit on your Thesis Defense there Buddy, so you might want to ease up on the bias and complete ignorance they sometimes shine when you don't want them to. Tough being a Progressive these days...

He thinks he's safe because he goes to U of O in Eugene? Things ARE changing but just not the way you expected Mr. Universe. Oh, and how about the Million Dollars that Goldman Sacs gave BO, does that mean anything to you? Probably NOT!!! Talk about Wagging the Media... Bo is the Professor on that score, because he sure never was a Constitutional Professor, he was a Grad student Teachers Assistant like you.

One more thing, there are web pages by the hundreds showing Progressive Hate Speech you guys have cornered the market... I mean REAL HATE speech.

      • Wow, they really let you teach at the U of O? Astounding. I hope it's something innocuous like accounting. Or, I'm guessing Phys Ed. No analytical thought required there.

Didn't mean to imply you were a grad student. I should have reversed the terms to say "I, too, am an instructor as well as a grad student at the U of O". Not sure why you were insulted by the prospect of being a grad student. Unless of course, you're threatened by higher education. My advisory committee is already in place. Fortunately, I'm pretty sure you aren't one of them.

You said, "Tough being a Progressive these days…" You know, not really. The conservatives are doing a fine job imploding in upon themselves without any help from me. In fact, I am just fine with the way things are going. You guys keep talking about a 'bloodbath of epic proportions' in November, and 'we'll take back the House and Senate and out country!'. Best 'o luck with that boys. Yeah, they'll be some losses. Always have been after an election (see 2006). But as long as you guys keep bringing the crazy...I'm not losing a lot of sleep over it.

(entire second paragraph you wrote) Okay, now I think you're a liar. You just dropped your pants and the girls are all giggling. There is no way that you would be allowed near an institution of higher learning with that stream of nonsense. And if you can't see the complete racist vitriol calling for the second Civil War going on over at Red State, Freeperland. then I suggest you take a looooong hard look in the mirror and tell me what hatred looks like.

        @Administrator

I do not wish to master the universe, only to understand it. But I will direct my students to your prayers. They can probably give an unqualified opinion about my class and your website and your condescension.

        • Just curious but when does the right's protesting pass your leftist muster? When they burn effigies of soldiers like scumbags in Portland did? Or maybe when they try and set bombs to kill federal employees like Barry's buddies did? I got maybe they should start a group like Democrats did that uses racism to try and keep people down, you may have heard of it it is called the Klan.

You and your ilk try so hard to pin so much hate on the right that you overlook your own. Your hypocricy would almost be funny if it wasn't so digustingly pathetic.

    • Mr Master of the Universe,

I don't recall that we ever billed I Hate The Media as a hate-free zone, as does Eugene. Perhaps after you acquire more higher level degrees at your institution of bias learning, you will be able to see the distinction.

      We pray for your students.

      • Don't really need a degree to make the distinction. It's patently obvious. I think you could just stop after 'I Hate'. That would do just fine.

  • I went to college in Eugene back in the mid 1980s. It was hateful for all things conservative then, too.

    • Sad to say, but I was there for the Summer of Love in '67 and the winter of '68-69 when a snowstorm closed the University for the first time in its history and we were told that the next ice age was upon us. I was also there during the Vietnam war riots in 1970 when a group of leftist dolts took over the President's office.

I remember a display set up in the lobby of a very large, stadium-style seating lecture hall. It was a Malthusian display of the continents and every day they added more cockroaches to each continent to show how the world was becoming overcrowded. Eventually each continent was completely covered with cockroaches crawling over each other. I thought cockroaches were the perfect choice to demonstrate what the left really thinks of humanity.

  • I love how it's five people and there were no doubt thousands at the rally supporting Palin.

  • Not only am I a graduate of the University of Oregon I teach there and I can tell you that Eugene is a Hate full Zone!!! Get it Lefty's... Hateful!!!
