When President Obama promised “change,” no one knew he wanted to change the names of things that are clearly understood to names that are…well…clearly not understood.
“Global War on Terror” became “overseas contingency operation.” “Terrorism” became “man-caused disaster.” Now the Treasury wants “toxic assets” to be called “legacy assets” name and the CDC wants “swine flu” to be called “H1N1.”
Unfortunately, no one’s buying these names. Not even the biased liberal media. When was the last time you heard Katie Couric report an overseas contingency operation?
Eric Swartz, the San Francisco-based TaglineGuru, wants to help. So he came up with some ideas to help the Obama administration rebrand other policy terms. Some of his suggestions:
Detainees: Custodial informants
Terrorists: Improvised ideologues
Deficit: Long shortfall (or inverted surplus)
One trillion dollars: Nth power financing
Border violence: Territorial imperative
Torture: Non-verbal questioning
Taxes: Income tweaks
We like it. Or as they might say in the Obama administration, it’s favorability enhanced.

Transparent Government: Whatever the president says, he is in fact doing just the opposite.
Your article is correct on all counts except one. The CDC has requested that "swine flu" be call by its correct scientific name because uneducated, hysterical media buffoons were "breaking news" that swine flu was caused by swine, even "tracing" the "first" case to a little boy who live 8 kilomters from a pig farm in Mexico. If such was the case, every hard working hog farm in Nebraska or Iowa would have been dead years ago and all their families. The "news" also had carefully edited video of pigs being held in tiny "pens", unable to stand. Those were birthing crates used to prevent sows from lying on the newborn piglets. They do not "live" in those crates. The reason that the CDC responded was because "smart" city folks were afraid to eat pork. Hard working hog farmers were seeing prices drop. Unless the rest of the nation has found some way to physically sustain themselves on technology, television, movies, automobiles, fashion, oil, etc., I must remind you that you still NEED agriculture. Agriculture has every right to be protected from lies, gross misrepresentation, and general urban "stupidity" by the CDC or who ever has brains enough to know the truth. It is H1N1 flu in conservative, enlightened Nebraska--"the happiest people" in the country, definitely not Obama country. I have lived in large cities in the USA and overseas. Generally I would say that our urban population is much more ignorant about rural issues, than rural people are about urban issues. I dislike Obama also, but please don't give him credit for being smart enough to know that "swine flu" is H1N1.
