Oh, sure, now he tells us. Evan Thomas, who once waxed poetically about Barack Obama being god-like, has lost his religion. Cover your ears, because his words are blasphemous.
The Daily Caller has the undeified details:
Newsweek columnist Evan Thomas, once an editor at the magazine with a long track record of having liberal positions (even once having likened President Barack Obama to a deity), noted the modest improvement in the unemployment number reported on Friday. However, nearly a year after Obamacare was passed and signed into law, he admitted Republicans were right for voicing their opposition of it.
“It ain’t because of Congress,” Thomas said. “The unemployment will go down a little bit but the game in Washington will still be this unreal game. Health care though – I got to say, is one place where I think where Republicans are right.”
Back in November 2009, Thomas admitted the health care reform bill had flaws, but still voiced his support for it. Now he has proclaimed it a failure.
“The health care bill is a disaster,” Thomas continued. “We’re sort of slowly learning – it’s not working. It’s interesting – they’re implementing it and it’s not working out at all as people anticipated. There’s all sorts of wildly wrong projections. As it’s being practiced – it’s failed.”
As we used to say when we were kids, “No shit, Sherlock. Where’d you get your first clue?”

Wow.
Obama's adherents are peeling off now.
Well, some of them, anyway.
Man (the name not the gender) will ALWAYS, Always dissapoint. The trick here is to know it and not go crazy when the dissapointment comes. So, if he is having issues, I hope that he is seeing someone to talk him through these moments.
If Thomas had done his background work before kissing the ass of liberalism he wouldn't have to eat crow now.
He could have read Henry Morgenthua Jr's speech in May 1939 to fellow democrats on the House Ways and Means committee. Since he didn't I'll quote it for him just in case he wants to do some real reporting:
"We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and if I am wrong...somebody else can have my job.
We have not made good on our promises... I say after 8 years of this Administration (FDR) we have just as much unemployment as when we started...And an enormous debt to boot!"
From Morgenthau Diary, May 9th, 1939 , Roosevelt Presidential Library...
It's just pathetic and sad to listen to these johnny come lately types admit what we already knew to be true. We wouldn't have this ten ton obstacle hanging over our heads if we had had a better dungeon master...with all the talent out there, we ended up with Igor!
Sooner or later, Americans (at least those with a functional brain) will come to realize that the health care bill isn't about health care at all-- it's about income redistribution. Had the Democrats been honestly concerned about controlling health care costs and making health insurance more affordable, they would have taken the time to thoroughly investigate a variety of options, and would have worked with opponents to develop a legitimate solution. Instead, they simply took their typical "we know best" approach and rammed the legislation through without reading it.
If I put trillions of dollars on a credit card, I bet I could get the unemployment rate to go down a little bit, too.
Yeah but could you get it to go up like the world's mostest smarterest president of all the universe?
No, that take a real talent to screw up. For crying out load the stimulus could have given each and every citizen almost $3,000 each. I think that would have been much better. However, not wastefully spending the money would have meant we were on our way to REAL RECOVERY last August. Now no recovery until Obama is gone.
I've also heard - so take this for what it's worth - that they could have eliminated all federal income taxes for 18 months for the cost of the stimulus. I think that would have done more for the economy, too, but it would have meant less money for Democrat constituencies.
Nothing to control costs.
Nothing to make the system more efficient.
Lots of new taxes.
Lots of new regulations.
Huh, sounds like most legislation our govt pushes through.
Hmmm. Another loon has got a firm hold on both of his ears and pulled his head partially out of his ass. Pull a little more, there's light out here.
Actually the health care bill is working out exactly like a lot of people predicted...
Yes it is. In New Mexico you cannot buy private insurance for your child. That's right, if you want to buy health insurance for your family in this state you cannot add your child to the policy. Heatlh insurance spokemen are saying that they cannot provide insurance for kids until they have finished wading through the thousands of pages in the Obummercare bill, with all its changes, rules and regulations, because they have no idea of what to charge customers who have children. This does not have any effect on parents with employer provided health insurance which, of course, covers fewer than 1/3rd of the kids in this state.
That is insanity...
Arizona voted to not be part of the Obamacare network. Even so, it is still effecting us because of so many national health care providers.
AZ only opted out because they are a racist state, though. ;)
We also love our guns! Don't forget that.
Racists Gun toting antiamericans that force innocent non crazy people in to bad situations. Poor poor us...
If he had said this on Fox News where there are actual viewers then PBS would have canned his ass already a la Juan Williams.
