Thanks to Wikileaks, we’ve finally found someone more traitorous than Wikileaks itself – President Obama.
According to newly released information, our Commander in Chief wanted the Russians to sign the dubious START Treaty so badly that he gave them the UK’s nuclear secrets as an incentive.
The Telegraph UK has the horrifying story:
The US secretly agreed to give the Russians sensitive information on Britain’s nuclear deterrent to persuade them to sign a key treaty, The Daily Telegraph can disclose.
Information about every Trident missile the US supplies to Britain will be given to Russia as part of an arms control deal signed by President Barack Obama next week.
Defence analysts claim the agreement risks undermining Britain’s policy of refusing to confirm the exact size of its nuclear arsenal.
The fact that the Americans used British nuclear secrets as a bargaining chip also sheds new light on the so-called “special relationship”, which is shown often to be a one-sided affair by US diplomatic communications obtained by the WikiLeaks website.
Details of the behind-the-scenes talks are contained in more than 1,400 US embassy cables published to date by the Telegraph, including almost 800 sent from the London Embassy, which are published online today. The documents also show that…
…A series of classified messages sent to Washington by US negotiators show how information on Britain’s nuclear capability was crucial to securing Russia’s support for the “New START” deal.
Although the treaty was not supposed to have any impact on Britain, the leaked cables show that Russia used the talks to demand more information about the UK’s Trident missiles, which are manufactured and maintained in the US.
Washington lobbied London in 2009 for permission to supply Moscow with detailed data about the performance of UK missiles. The UK refused, but the US agreed to hand over the serial numbers of Trident missiles it transfers to Britain.
This is what you call a win-win for Russia and a traitorous-traitorous for everyone else.

"(8) notification, no later than 48 hours after it has been completed, of the transfer of items to or from a third State in accordance with a pattern of cooperation existing at the time of signature of the Treaty referred to in Article XVI of the Treaty and the First Agreed Statement in the Annex to the Treaty on Agreed Statements. Such notification shall include: the number and type of items transferred; the date of transfer; and the location of transfer;"

Your point doesn't fit your argument since this item pertains to the transfer to a third state. Thus, US transfer to UK does not qualify. Further transfer requires disclosure.
I don't understand. You are saying UK is not a third state in this treaty between 2 states? Does this mean that all the U.S. players in this agreement agreed that Russia could quietly slip nukes to Cuba, but disclosure would only be required after Cuba passed them off the Canada? This is what we signed?

Many (most probably) here understand your disappointment with Britain's slide into socialism, but there are plenty of people there who are not only on our side, but at our side in the battlefield. Allies are like spouses that way, none are perfect, but loyalty is something to be desired.
Russia, on the other hand, may be sailing along under a flag of democracy, but it is a false flag. And capitalism and democracy are not the same thing. It can be argued that China is more capitalist than the US today, but certainly the principles of its government don't reflect what we want ours to be (again, someday, hopefully!).
Make no mistake, I would like to have Russia as an Allie in the war on terror, nothing would please me more than their sweeping through the tribal regions of Pakistan and securing the border, unfettered by the nonsensical ROE our troops have to die with.
But, aside from the Aussies and Kiwis, we have no better allie than Britain, and they deserve a hell of a lot better than His "O"lliness, as do we.
Russia and/or China will not need any allies on the war on terror. Their leaders have cajones. They will simply expel/execute terrorists when caught. They will close their borders to goat humpers. End of problem.
A waterboarding is the last thing a terrorist will have to worry about if caught in those countries. My guess is they will easily gather the needed intel very quickly.
Perversely I see the tide of Islamic terriorism as creating a return to a bi polar, except in this case tri-polar world. Russia is having problems with this and now China also are having big problems although they do not make public comments on the subject. So on this point I kind of agree, assuming that the future is modelled on capitalist interest we will be able to work with state governments much better than tribal leaders. This is certainly something to worked towards and it will not be paid by the US tax payer.

I do not believe that America has the obligation to support socialist nations around the globe. My knowledge of history is fine, thank you, does Athens still have a military pact with Ionia? No of course not, are we oblgated to defend Britain? Under NATO yes we are, so first thing is to pull out of NATO. We should not be paying for the protection of socialist welfare states in europe. We should be looking to create capitalist markets with Russia. So in a wider sense if passing a few secrets to Russia does that maybe it is to our benefit. I do not approve of agreeing to keep secrets and then breaking out word so we should pull out of socialist europe entirely...

Other than Britain the EU spends very little of it`s GDP on defence, this is what allows for the high spending per capita on welfare provisions. This has nothing to do with Russia, per se. It has nothing to do with the fact that any one country is socialist in nature. It has nothing to do with the EU and their defense spending (frankly, I could care less about the EU other than how it affects me personally - I spend a lot of time there).
This has everything to do with our allies and their ability to trust the US....and this incompetent administration blatently violated that trust. That's the fact, that's the issue...period.
