Authorities are concerned that a man sought in connection with a bizarre shooting incident on the Washington Mall last week may pose a threat to President Obama. Secret Service believes the suspect, Oscar Ramiro Ortega of Idaho, fired a bullet which hit the White House and was stopped by ballistic glass. He may be mentally ill, has a long police record and seems to have been fixated on the White House. “U.S. Park police say Ortega may have spent time blending in with Occupy D.C. protesters.” Sarah Palin has not been questioned yet. A NY judge has upheld the city’s dismantling of the Occupy Wall Street encampment, saying that the protesters’ first amendment rights don’t entitle them to camp out indefinitely in the plaza. “The judge upheld the city’s effective eviction of the protesters after an emergency appeal by the National Lawyers Guild.” Zuccotti Park, where OWS has been squatting (literally and figuratively) is privately owned. If it were ours, we’d quickly put a bunch of foot-long steel spikes in the ground to make sure OWS gets the point about not squatting there.

Unconsicously ironic remark of the day: Obama calls for national “soul searching” in wake of Penn State abuse scandal. President Nothing-Is-My-Fault hectors millions of people who had nothing to do with any of it to examine their role in the tragedy. And how about what Obama’s “safe schools czar” once said to a 15-yr old gay boy who met an older man in a bathroom (“I hope you knew to use a condom.”) We’d respond that Obama should go for some “soul searching” too but we’re sure it would be a total waste of precious golf time.

Rabble roused: NYPD arrests 200 protesters, clears OWS out of Zuccotti Park. But, there’s a fly in the filthy ointment: “This morning the National Lawyers Guild announced it had received a restraining order against the city ordering the mobs be allowed back in along with their tents and sleeping bags.” Sure, their constitutional right to make trouble and harrass others! It’s right there in the Commerce Clause.
