Matthews: I love to think with him

Not since Chris Mathews told us of the tingling sensation he gets up his leg when he hears Obama speak, has he shown off his Obama mancrush with such affection and enchantment as he did last night. If only he’d held back until this Saturday, Valentines Day, it would have been perfect.

During a special edition of Countdown, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews poured his heart out to Barack. He said that he was “very impressed with [Obama’s] amazing ability,” and told us that his guy was “at his best intellectually.” But, he really showed his affection with this comment: “What a mind he has, and I love his ability to do it on television. I love to think with him.”

Making sure not to leave out anyone else in his circle of friends, he added, “I think our breed looked pretty good tonight. I think the press looked very good tonight. I think they asked great questions. I loved, I would be very impressed with the press tonight.”

Love isn’t just in the air, it’s on the air.

Stimulus package “unstimulating”

We’ve got trouble in River City. And the river is the Potomac. And the city is Washington, DC.

Looks like even leftwing puppets Jim Cramer and Chris Matthews are questioning the stimulus bill’s meager infrastructure spending.

“Take the infrastructure number. Do you know that it’s $30 billion for infrastructure for bridges?” Cramer queried. “The ‘Big Dig’ cost $22 billion…and it only put 5,000 to work…It’s not gonna put a lot of people to work.”

“Why in the world aren’t we doing what they said they were going to do – build bridges, factory jobs, replace the smell of decay with the smell of construction?” Matthews said.

Matthews went on to say other things — many other things, in fact — interrupting Cramer and other guests and complete strangers, but it was all so incoherent that we won’t bother quoting it here.

Hell, we’re still wondering what “the smell of construction” might be.

Chris Matthews hates witches. And the Constitution

You could fill one of those big, heavy 3-ring binders with a list of nutty comments made by Chris Matthews, host of CNBC’s “Hardball.” But his latest comment may just earn him a ticket straight to the Wacko Wing in the Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

Matthews was discussing a call by Rep. John Conyers (D-Michigan) for a war crimes trial for Bush administration officials and terrorist detainee interrogators.

“Why,” Matthews asked, “would a show trial or witch hunt be bad?”

To that, we say absolutely nothing, Chris. Nothing at all wrong with a little witch hunt. We say that darn constitution is more than 200 years old now and it’s about time we get a new one. Let’s ask the Chinese if they have an extra one they’ll sell us.
