Yale monkey to join Obama economic team?

One can’t watch this TED lecture from Yale psychology Professor Laurie Santos without coming to the conclusion that a monkey’s understanding of the free market is just as irrational as President Obama’s.

Uh-oh. We tread on very thin ice when we compare President Obama to a monkey. As we recall from the New York Post cartoon controversy, that quickly gets you labeled as a racist.

And yet one can’t watch this TED lecture from Yale psychology Professor Laurie Santos without coming to the conclusion that a monkey’s understanding of the free market is just as irrational as President Obama’s.

She taught our primate relatives to use currency and discovered that “monkeynomics” is very similar to Obamanomics because the primates also continue to repeat the same irrational mistakes over and over again.

Out: “Jobs created or saved.” In: “Lives touched.”

Looks the Obama Administration has now given up on the much-derided term “jobs created or saved” and moved on to the even sillier “lives touched.”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnPTx7lM1ngIf the Obama administration was half as creative about creating jobs as it is about creating new doublespeak, unemployment would be a thing of the past.

Looks like they’ve now given up on the much-derided term “jobs created or saved” and moved on to the even sillier “lives touched.”

Oregon’s KVTZ has Obama’s latest nonsense:

While DOE reports that it created 10,018 jobs through May of this year, the department has also used a more unorthodox methodology to inflate job creation in some of its reports, a methodology the GAO says may mislead the public. For example, using the method GAO was critical of, the agency reports roughly 20,000 jobs created through May of this year, counting the number of “lives touched” in some documents.

We’re pretty sure most Americans would agree with the Tubes and say, “Don’t touch me there.”

Top 25 things President Obama is teaching his daughters about money

Starry-eyed ABC reporter Elisabeth Leamy had a chance to interview President Obama and actually asked him, “What are you and the First Lady teaching your daughters about money.

Starry-eyed ABC reporter Elisabeth Leamy had a chance to interview President Obama and actually asked him, “What are you and the First Lady teaching your daughters about money?”

The President is terribly pressed for time what with all the TV interviews and magazine cover photo sessions and golf games and vacations and laser-like focus on the economy and equally laser-like focus on the gulf oil spill, so he didn’t have time to fully answer Leamy’s question. If he had, we’re pretty sure that these are the important life lessons he’s teaching Sasha and Malia:

1. The more ice cream you eat, the less chance there is for poor children to become obese.

2. There’s no shame in being on welfare. That’s how Daddy buys votes.

3. Ask your mother. She makes all the policy decisions.

4. When I was your age, I had to walk to the madrassa uphill. In both directions.

Obama stands alone: G20 allies abandon Barackononics

Looks like Barack Obama has only two remaining allies in his theory that you can spend your way out of debt – John Maynard Keynes, who’s been dead for 64 years, and Greece, which will soon assume economic room temperature.

We've turned our economy over to a guy who makes Bernie Madoff look like an amateur

Looks like Barack Obama has only two remaining allies in his theory that you can spend your way out of debt – John Maynard Keynes, who’s been dead for 64 years, and Greece, which will soon assume economic room temperature.

The Financial Times reports the G20’s return to reality:

The communiqué of the meeting made it clear that the G20 no longer thought that expansionary fiscal policy was sustainable or effective in fostering an economic recovery because investors were no longer confident about some countries’ public finances. “The recent events highlight the importance of sustainable public finances and the need for our countries to put in place credible, growth-friendly measures, to deliver fiscal sustainability,” the communiqué stated.

“Those countries with serious fiscal challenges need to accelerate the pace of consolidation,” it added. “We welcome the recent announcements by some countries to reduce their deficits in 2010 and strengthen their fiscal frameworks and institutions”.

These words were in marked contrast to the G20’s previous communiqué from late April, which called for fiscal support to “be maintained until the recovery is firmly driven by the private sector and becomes more entrenched”.

Ronald Reagan explains economics to White House reporter

In this short clip White House reporter Sam Donaldson asks Ronald Reagan if he bears any responsibility for the ballooning deficit.

In this short clip White House reporter Sam Donaldson asks Ronald Reagan if he bears any responsibility for the ballooning deficit. The answer is hilarious. Ronald Reagan at his ad libbing best.

Sadly, Reagan’s answer is just as valid today.

Obama’s version of the War on Terror aimed at productive, loyal Americans

We really like CNBC economist Larry Kudlow because he calls ‘em as he sees ‘em and, not so coincidentally, as we see ‘em.

“Let me be very clear on the economics of President Obama’s State of the Union speech and his budget,” he said in a recent article. “He is declaring war on investors, entrepreneurs, small businesses, large corporations, and private-equity and venture-capital funds.”

“That is the meaning of his anti-growth tax-hike proposals, which make absolutely no sense at all — either for this recession or from the standpoint of expanding our economy’s long-run potential to grow.”

Read the rest of Kudlow’s hard-hitting opinion piece.

While you’re reading it, please pretend we wrote it, because it’s really good and we wish we had.
