Latest U.N. actions would be laughable if they weren’t so contemptible

LIBYA was elected overnight to the United Nations Human Rights Council despite numerous complaints that the country was unfit to serve on the international rights body.,, But the appeal fell on deaf ears, and a General Assembly secret ballot produced 155 votes in favor of adding Libya to the council, significantly more than the 97 votes needed.

And last month:

Without fanfare, the United Nations this week elected Iran to its Commission on the Status of Women, handing a four-year seat on the influential human rights body to a theocratic state in which stoning is enshrined in law and lashings are required for women judged “immodest.”

The United Nations has become everything it was designed to fight. We’d say it’s become a joke, but there’s nothing funny about this corrupt gaggle of tin horn dictators and theocratic thugs.

Get US out of the U.N. and its corollary, get the U.N. out of the U.S.

U.S. House Speaker and dim bulb Nancy Pelosi is visiting China. Rumor has it that she made the sudden trip only after getting a fortune cookie that said, “Chinese reporters don’t ask you about waterboarding.”

While speaking at Tsinghua University, Pelosi tried to link human rights and environmental justice and confused those who speak English just as badly as she confused those who speak Chinese.

“I do see this opportunity for climate change to be … a game-changer,” she declared. “It’s a place where human rights — looking out for the needs of the poor in terms of climate change and healthy environment — are a human right.”

She then turned to the president of the university and asked for an order of fried rice, orange peel chicken and pot stickers.

Wouldn’t surprise you, would it?

Glover has an article in MiddleEastOnline.com titled “Race and the Obama Administration.” He excoriates the Bush administration for walking out on a 2001 U.N. anti-racism conference. He “urges the Obama administration to commit to participation at the U.N.’s Durban Review Conference against racism and intolerance – and to reclaim American leadership in the struggle for human rights.”

Glover paints a pretty picture of the peace and love and harmony that would have ruled the previous conference if only the evil Bush and the even more evil Israelis hadn’t walked out and ruined any chance of approval for the dandy resolution the delegates had written.

You already know everything you need to know about Glover. He pals around with Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez and never misses an opportunity to bash America.

The 2001 conference was an exercise in reparations lovin’, Israeli hatin’, American loathin’ and wealth redistributin’. You can read more about it here.

French attorney Yassine Bouzrou has entered a complaint in Paris on behalf of the ”Collective Against Islamophobia.”

Horrors! Bouzrou accuses Dutch politician Geert Wilders of uttering these scandalous words these words during a speech in New York:

“Paris is now surrounded by a ring of Muslim neighborhoods” and “Many neighborhoods in France are no-go areas for women without head scarves.”

As MediaWatchWatch.org said, “The idea that a Dutchman can be prosecuted in France for saying something perfectly legal in the United States is simply too absurd to contemplate.”

“If this goes through, the United States should issue speeding tickets to every driver in France.”

Coalition of dictatorships says China is democratic wonderland

The U.N. Human Rights Council has just rejected allegations that China suppressed dissent, restricted free speech and repressed minorities in Tibet and Xinjiang.

In fact, China won praise from some of the world’s most oppressive regimes — including Sudan, Cuba, Iran, Burma, Egypt and Zimbabwe.

“There is no censorship in China,” a Chinese representative insisted. Then he added that Chinese citizens are free to worship and to follow whatever religion they choose.

Chinese envoy Li Baodong angrily stated that Western and Latin American nations that had raised allegations of abuse were merely politicizing human rights issues.

In related news, the U.N. Human Rights Council softball league announced that Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had been voted Most Valuable Player and that Libyan strongman Moammar Khadafi was named Comeback Player of the Year.
